View 1 RepliesI am having two text boxes in a form (ASP) when I entered the value in text box it is passed to excel sheet .I am doing some calculation in excel-2003 for example(A+B=C).I am able to pass text box values to excel but I am unable to retrieve the calculated value from excel to the form. In Excel sheet the result is getting updated.

I have an small ASP.NET application that reads data from a table and sends it out as an excel attachment in an email message. The data is simply HTML table tr td tagged data. The way I am sending the message is by the following code:

This has been working fine in Excel 2003 but for some reason Excel 2007 keeps trying to convert the whole thing to a formula and I get a "Cell Data too Long" error. I've tried searching but couldn't really find anything specific about why this might be happening in 07 or a simple way to fix it. I know 07 probably handles data a little bit different than 03 but I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to reworking this app if possible.

I have what would seem like a fairly straightforward task: Export a report (GridView) to a spreadsheet, so that the client (user) can use the data elsewhere. I thought I found a very elegant solution. Here is the code:

With a little putsing I got it to work, which is good, EXCEPT that it precedes opening the spreadsheet with a warning that looks like this:

View 6 RepliesI'm really stuck tryign to figure this out. Converting XLS to CSV is no big deal or at least it seems that way. However, trying to go xlsx to csv seems to be more difficult. For grins, I grabbed some code that is supposed to read a sample xlsx file and convert that into a gridview called GridView1. I figure it can't be much different to turn that into CSV.

1st value (let's call it A)
2nd value (let's call it B)
3rd value (let's call it C)
4th value (let's call it D)
When the user clicks the submit button, it needs to work out the formula:
(A*4)+(B*3)+(C*4)+D+15
What is the easiest way to achieve this in .NET? Is it best to use a 'code-behind' model and have the calculations done on another page then displayed on the next webpage?

View 1 RepliesI'm a college intern at a small software company. I'm a novice when it comes to ASP.net and Expression Web, so sorry if these are obvious questions.
1. After figuring out how to get fields calculated before they get displayed (did this with SQL), I need to find a way to put certain characters before the output in the fields. I'm fairly certain this is done with a template field, but I have no idea how to touch those without making them blow up.
2. I would also like to have color in the GridViews rows or cells depending on a value returned from the database. Again, I think this would be done with template fields.
3. Thirdly, I need to be able to limit the characters in a few cells. I've searched and found some answers with this, but still Template fields go right over my head.

I need to add a column with a derived field which will be calculated every time the user is either entering a new row or editing the value of the weight field which is one of the fields of the gridview. This calculation is done in the fly and won't be saved in the database.
