Web Forms :: Detect Button Clicked In Page_Load Event?

How do I detect which button was clicked, early in the page lifetime cycle, before thecorresponding Click event handler is executed? I would like to suppress execution of certain expensive data retrieval/bounding code inPage_Load, if some "go to the next page" button was clicked.

Page_Load Event Is Not Revoked When Back Button Of Browser Is Clicked?
I have a very common problem with . I have designed a webpage that performs some action on its load event but whenever a user clicks on back button those actions are not performed as Page_Load event is not called.I have searched a lot of forums but wasn't able to get a exact answer. All I was able to know that it was happening due to cache memory maintained by browsers. I don't want to delete that cache. I want browser to work in normal way.

VS 2008 - When The PAGE_LOAD Event Fires How To Tell What Control Was Clicked
I've got a tree-view with items the user can click. In this event I trap the selected node of the TV changing

Now the user clicks the same branch in the TREEVIEW - the selected node does not change.

How can I tell in the PAGE_LOAD - when it runs prior to the SELECTED NODE CHANGE event - that the SELECTED NODE CHANGE event will never fire.

Or is it a better practice to "unselect" the node when they first click it so that each subsequence click of a node is always doing a "select change?"

Why Does Onclick Event Not Change The Button Text When The Button Is Clicked
Obviously I am a total noob and this is simple to some of you, but I can not figure out why the rest of the sub works, but the button1.Text="Uploading, Please Wait..." seems to be completely ignored.

The button is supposed to change text when clicked but no method I have tried works with my page.

Web Forms :: Pageload Event Not Firing When Gridrow Button Is Clicked Second Time
Gridrow Button click loads aspx Page1 which is a Modal window(window.showmodaldialog). It has an ascx in it called UC1. In my Page1 following is added.

<head><base target ='_self'/></head>(this was added to solve the problemof losing session data on load of Page1) I cannot do away without this code.

I am assuming this is avoiding Pageload event of Page1 when the same gridrow button, who opens up Page1, is clicked the second time. Please note thatafter second clickI can see the page1 with all it's controls but when I try to debug, I see that it does not raise the page load event the second time. It's as thought the page had been cached or the same frame is gettign loaded.

Problem is I want to raise the Page load event the second time also beacuse my dataload for Page1 happens only on page load. PS: Please note only the second click onwards page load doesn't happen. the first time pagelaod works. If I click a new row's button the first time it works.. later it stops doing a pageload

here is the code for my page

Web Forms :: ImageButton Always Calls Page_load Event?
I'm using ASP.NET 3.5 and C#.I load an SqlDataSource into a DataView on my Page_Load event. My SqlDataSource queries arandom record from the database. On my page I have an ImageButton, which when clicked uses a Response.Redirect("AnotherPage.aspx + "random id from database"). My problem is that when the button is clicked it fires the Page_Load event before the Response.Redirect takes place in the button_click event. This causes the current data(the users "id") that I had pulled from the database to be overwritten with new data(a different "id") from the database. So essentially the the page is redirecting to the 2nd random id that is queried from the db after the button is clicked and Page_Load is fired again, not the original id. Here's my code, hope it makes sense. Here's my Page_Load:

Then my Button_Click Event:

protected void btn1_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
Response.Redirect("~/Profile.aspx?id=" + id1);

Can I put my dataview in another event or method so it's not called when a user clicks an ImageButton. Also I want the DataView to be repopulated on a postback/page refresh, just not on button clicks.

Web Forms :: ContentPage Controls Null During Page_Load Event
So I'm having a bit of trouble - I have a Content Page inside a Nested MasterPage. This Content page contains several controls (labels, dropdownlists, etc.) that I cannot access during the Page_Load event of the Content Page, because they're null. What am I missing conceptually? Shouldn't these controls exist already?Just to clarify, I am NOT trying to access controls on either master page. I'm strictly trying to access controls within the content page itself.

When I debug, the LoadControl call is called once, however the Page_Load inside the user control is called twice. On each occasion, the postback property is false, so it seems somehow the Page_Load event is called outright 2 times and nothing to do with any postback?
