Web Forms :: Execute The Response And Update The Current Page?

I am generating Word docs from a gridview. The Word doc gets sent to the client using a Resposne object. However, I would also like to highlight the row in question and update a file generation log display (another gridview).
All the data fucntions on the server side fire fine, but any visual updates to the current page never hit the client. The Response object seems to take over the entire response.
Is there any way to accomplish both: execute the Response and update the current page?

I have a page that is used to add info from a gridview into a user's profile. I have explained my issues after all of the code. Here is the applicable code(s) involved:

Here is the problem that I am having: I have one specific item that allows user's to define their own price (for this item only). By putting this price in a session variable seems to be the easiest way to handle this (at least for me), but the session variable's value always "lags behind". By this I mean that the first time the items is entered, it uses the default value of cartItem.ItemPrice. The second time the same item is added (with the intention of a different price), this new item's cartItem.ItemPrice is set
as the first session("customPrice").
Because the user is selecting his/her own price for this item, I am not worried about lack of security involved with using query string to pass this price, but I can't get the string passed to the ShoppingCart class correctly (shows up null). Is there a way to append this customPrice to the current page's query string before the Response.Redirect takes place? If I understand this correctly, the Response portion "posts back" to the current page before the Redirect sends us on our merry way, right?

I have a logon/register control that is on several pages. Users are logged on with code: - FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(Userid, False) Response.Redirect(Request.Url.AbsoluteUri) ' Round trip is necessary to complete logon
All this was working OK, except that there was a problem with Internet Explorer users: if their browser had the default privacy setting the authorization cookie was rejected. There was no message, but they were not logged on. See [URL] To try to solve this problem I changed to cookieless authentication, but now the logon control doesn't work. The problem is that after cookieless authentication the URL changes from
[URL]
However Request.Url.AbsoluteUri remains http://localhost:3641/TestGDB/login_pages/home2.aspx even after the logon, and so with cookieless authentication the user is not logged on as there is no authentication ticket in the redirect URL.
The problem is "solved" by changing the Redirect statement to Response.Redirect("~/login_pages/home2.aspx") which works perfectly for this particular page, but is obviously wrong when the control is on other pages.
How do I write "Response.Redirect(current page)"?

I had written a piece of code in MVC 1.0 and the Response.Redirect worked flawlessly.I now have a new application and I decided to use MVC 2.0 but that same piece of code is now not working. After the Response.Redirect is called, the code STILL continues to execute. I have not seen this in any version of ASP.NET until now. Usually, after Response.Redirect is called, execution of all code is stopped.
Why is this now happening and how do I fix this? this is very frustrating to me and I cannot seem to find a solution.

I wanted to create a CurrentUser object to be accessible in every Action of Controller, I initialized it in Constructor but User.Identity was not available in Constructor. I followed the following link on stackoverflow:

But after inheriting my Controllers from BaseController, my Action methods are not even executed, the execution stops at Execute of BaseController and I get blank pages in the browser.

I am looking for a way to figure out the current URL that the page is currently on (NOT what the asp.net page currently is, but where the CODE is at). ie. My web app is located at: [URL] my code is: String page = [URL]

I am using 3.5 .NET VB. In a code behind I am calling a page using this approach:HttpContext.Current.Server.Execute("Survey.aspx").On the survey.aspx page I have several textboxes are varying sizes. If I run the survey.aspx page alone, the textbox appear on the screen in the correctsizesettings. However, when I use the HttpContext.Current.Server.Execute method to execute the survery.aspx page from another page, the textboxes always come back a fixed width of like 200px or so. It doesnt matter what I change the size of the width to in the survey.aspx page, they are always rendered the same size for every textbox on the page. The changes do show up if I view the survey.aspx page alone though without calling it through another page so I know my syntax for changing the width settings is correct.Does anyone have any idea what causes this and how to resolve it? I am stumped.

I am building in error-logging into my site, and want to be able to get hold of the current page name that the error occurred in, as well as the specific subroutine or function, to then pass to a VB.NET function. I monitored w3wp.exe (IIS) process, and it seems that the data is being written on memory instead of Stream.
When w3wp.exe memory usage riches a certain number, it releases the memory and nothing happens (no download).

If I use the following code, it pulls the current date from my database, I can then change the date (in the textbox), click update and the database is updated.

I'm trying to get the textbox to automatically populate with the current date and then update the database when I click update.
If I use the command below, I get the current date (in the textbox), but date shows as blank in the database.

How do I bind this so it updates my database?

In FormView EditTemplate I am trying to update record. All records are perfectly updating except one i.e. want to put CurrentDateTime (17/05/2010 10:23:00 AM). Secondly the updated Current DateTime should display in the DateTime Textbox("ClrDateTimeTextBox") in formview.

I have table A in database A , in table A i have trigger to insert record to database B table A, each update and insert of database A -table A, triiger fire and insert record in database B table A, when i try to update some times asp.net application gives error

I have a page, let's called that Parameter page, displaying data from a database table using GridView. (The database is a SQL database.) I allow editing of data in GridView. The GridView uses stored procedure to retrieve data and to update data. In my project, users need to log in before using my asp.net project. So at every page, I know who the current user is by using HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name. Now as requirement changes, I need to record who has changed what (row) in the Parameter page. The information is to be written to a new table - audit log. Therefore I do not expect to change the Parameter table structure.
I have modified the stored procedure retrieving data. It returns one more column - an empty column with name currentUser. So GridView will create one more column. After data bound, I have the GridView_DataBound() to popluate that column using HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name.
I debug it in Visual Studio and am able to see the name of current log in user as the last column in GridView. I change the update stored procedure to take in one more parameter. That parameter, currentUser, takes default value. The default value is an empty string. So if UI part fails to send in the current user name to stored procedure, it just write the empty string as the user name. I change the <asp:SqlDataSource>. I add a <asp:Parameter> for currentUser.

I have built a web app and want the user to be able to select, update, delete, add data as well as execute stored procedures, I thought that I would get this from the db_datareader and db_datawriter roles but I get an error when trying to select data etcFor instance I get an error when trying to run the stored procedure ups_AddCustomer when the user has the assigned roles db_datareader & db_datawriter but it works fine when the db_dbowner but i would rather not have the page user having full access to the database.
