View 3 RepliesI have Template fields configured for Gridview. The gridview is using an objectdatabsource to bind itself. I have the gridview configured to use Templatefields which then contain tables to display the information. This works fine.
My question is, is it possible to change the text of the label if certain criteria is reached. If "NumberOfDwellings" is 1 then change the label to read, "1 Dwelling". Where-as if NumberOfDwellings has more than one then it's "3 Dwellings".

I've programatically created a DataView item by adding columns and rows to a table in the class file. Then I add that to my webform using a GridView. I'd like to hide some of the columns so that the end user doesn't see them but still be able to access their values.
How do I do this programatically? The table.Columns.Count returns the actually number of columns. Somehow when it converts into a DataView, it is only returning 1 column.

View 7 RepliesI have a registration page with some validation control. There is also a label that is invisible by default. When I click on a button and the page is valid the data is inserted to the database, the label becomes visible (there is text something like: The data has been inserted) and the textboxes become clear so the user can insert another row to the database. Now when I click on the button again and the page is not valid, I get some message kind of insert the name but the label with the text The data has been inserted stay visible. How can I hide the label when the page is not valid?
View 6 RepliesI am trying to programmatically set some lables inside a DetailsView that is populated by an ObjectDataSource. The detailsview is handled in an unusual way with one TemplateField that has one ItemTemplate that has one table that has two rows of significance and a boatload of bound items. I'll be working on the EditTemplate next. But now I need to set the top row lable values programmatically baised on the type of data that comes-up. I have scoured the Internet looking for ideas and found two possible approaches - neither worked. I get the error about something not being set to an instance of the object - or something like that.

View 1 RepliesI am having this issue with a web application. I have built a CMS that uses URL Routing, which I have loaded dynamicall from the database. My Global.asax File looks like this:

My code works just fine, but every time I change the table clr_SystemRoutes, (inserting a new route definition) I am forced to copy the global.asax file to the web server, even though it hasn't changed. I am assuming this causes some event that re-registers the RouteTable, but I'm not sure. What can I do to make the RouteTable something I can change without having to do that. Is there a way to re register the routes programmatically or is there an existing method to do this?
I do not want to show the instanceID field in my Gridview, however I need these values for each row in the final HTML so that I can use Javascript later on to lookup up for a specific instanceID in the whole document. Any way of doing that?

Anyway, ASP.NET doesn't like code interleaved with list items, so this is a no-go. I imagine that there's some C#-based way to handle this somehow, but I've been trying for a few days now with no luck.
Also, just to be clear, I'm seeking a server-side solution here. I'm well-versed with jQuery, but we're trying to keep most of the processing of this particular form off the client.
i m working on simple asp.net and in that i am using validators. my situation is like that i have used reaquired field validator its working fine. and after that if i ented data and fired insert query then data is inserted and sucessful message is displyed on the lable. but agin if i clik on submit button with empty fields then validator works but the lable of successful message does not disapper. how to hide that lable.

I have a sql data souce that returns several columns of data, and they are displayed in a DetailsView on a pretty simple vb.net page. I'm stuggling with one field though for the details view.
It's a template field, and if ClientType=1 (this value is determined else where on the page), then the label in the template field should have Text='<%# Bind("ClientName") %>', but if the ClientType = 0, then the label in the template field should have Text='<%# Bind("ClientTemporaryName") %>'
How do I tell the details view to set the text for ClientName to one or the other?
