I have a user control with a textbox. I am loading it at runtime on parent page with code behind.After click of button on a parent page i need the text of that usercontrol's textbox.
I tried with following code but it does not work for me
myusercontrol us = new myusercontrol(); TextBox textbox = (TextBox)us.FindControl("txtusercontrol"); string str = textbox.Text.ToString();
I'm trying to find a TextBox in the code-behind page, it's inside a nested master page and also then inside another control container (it's inside ctrlCheckoutShippingAddress also) .
I have created a web user control I want to change the iframe' src value when the user click on the link but the problem is that I dont have access to iframe inside the page from web user control I think there is a way because my control is in the page they have some relation perhaps I like to find something like this :
I have an asp.net usercontrol which represents a "popup" dialog. Basically, it's a wrapper for the jQuery UI dialog which can be subclassed to easily make dialogs.
As part of this control, I need to inject a div into the page the control is used on, either at the very top or very bottom of the form so that when the popup is instantiated, it's parent is changed to this div. This allows "nested" popups without the child popup being trapped inside the parent popup. The trouble is, I can't find a safe way to inject this div into the page. A usercontrol doesn't have a preinit event, so I can't do it there, and calling Page.Form.Controls.Add(...) in Init, Load or PreRender causes the standard exception "The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases."
... which seemed to work well normally, but recently a coworker tried putting an UpdatePanel inside the dialog and now she's getting the error "The script tag registered for type 'ASP.controls_order_viewzips_ascx' and key 'ctl00$ContentBody$OViewZips_Dialog_Div' has invalid characters outside of the script tags: . Only properly formatted script tags can be registered."
How are you supposed to add controls to the pages control collection from inside a user control?
I am developing a asp database that is linked with SQL Database. When I am tryind to Find Control (GridView2) inside of another control (Panel2) that sits in Item Template for DetailsView, I got an error message:
All I would like to be able to do is include one user control within another! Is this possible? I have spent the last hour searching the internet and it seems that I can't find a single thing.
In classic ASP it would be something like: <!--#include file="EditProject.ascx"-->
I tried this but no luck!
Parser Error Message:
There can be only one 'control' directive.
Source Error:

I have an aspx web application in which 1 aspx page and 1 web user controls exist. I added 4 instances of the user control in aspx page. There is a remove button in user control which is used to remove the control from the aspx page. If I click on remove button of the user control, how can I find that which user control's remove button is clicked from the aspx page.
So all I want to do is simply find a user control I load based on a drop down selection. I have the user control added but now I'm trying to find the control so I can access a couple properties off of it and I can't find the control for the life of me. I'm actually doing all of this in the master page and there is no code in the default.aspx page itself.
MasterPage.aspx
[Code]....
MasterPage.cs
protected void goToSelectedPage(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { temp1 ct = this.Page.Master.LoadControl("temp1.ascx") as temp1; ct.ID = "TestMe"; this.UpdatePanel1.ContentTemplateContainer.Controls.Add(ct); } //This is where I CANNOT SEEM TO FIND THE CONTROL //////////////////////////////////////// protected void lnkSave_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { UpdatePanel teest = this.FindControl("UpdatePanel1") as UpdatePanel; Control test2 = teest.ContentTemplateContainer.FindControl("ctl09") as Control; temp1 test3 = test2.FindControl("TestMe") as temp1; string maybe = test3.Col1TopTitle; }
Here I don't understand what it's telling me. for "par" I get "ctl09" and I have no idea how I am supposed to find this control. temp1.ascx.cs
how i can find a DataList which is inside the DataList control? Its giving the Error Object not set to an Instance. i am finding the control this way :
I have a web user control that represents a simple message box. It is used to display simple messages like "Item has been deleted", or "The item was saved successfully".
On the other hand, I have another web user control that represents the item in the form of an editable form (I made this a user control because this is used in two different pages). I want to embed an instance of the message box user control inside the editable form. I am writing this right after the @Control directive:
[Code]....
Instead of using @Register directives, I register the user controls in web.config and so far this has worked just fine.
With the above markup, the project compiles, but whenever I try to navigate to a page that contains this construct, I get an HttpParseException exception. Furthermore, Visual Studio states that the tack w7rc9:MessageBox doesn't represent a known control.
i would like to ask about how can i open user control page when i click a button on parent page, also, can i call parent's method from user control page and then refresh parent page?
Hello all i have this little issue getting this to work, i have a dropdownlist in asp.net inside a formview and jquery cant find the control im guessing because its inside a form, this is what i got and it works on another page without a formviewi get this errorName 'Country' is not declared
I have a really odd behavior here: I created a little popup dialog in jQuery UI, and in my test HTML page, it works flawlessly. When I click on the button, the popup comes up, covers the background, and remains on screen until I click on one of the two buttons (OK or Cancel) provided.
So now I wanted to add this into my ASP.NET 3.5 app. I wanted to add it to a GridView inside a user controls (ASCX), which is on a page (ASPX) contained inside a master page.The jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8.1 scripts are referenced on the master page:
Update: OK, one problem is solved - it appears that for whatever reason, the default MS Ajax stuff is adding some kind of an "observer" to my popup dialog and closes it right away after it shows up
So I changed the OnClientClick="showDialog();" to OnClientClick="showDialog(); return false;" and how that doesn't happen anymore - the dialog box pops up and stays there until I click on either of the two buttons (OK and Cancel).
I've got a web site that has a master page and that master page (mpMaster that has a user control ucControl1) which has a sub user control (ucControl2), this user control has a property which accepts a value. Now, I have a page that uses the master page and on this page I have another user control (ucPageControl), I need to find a way of setting the value in ucControl2 from ucPageControl. Is this possible at all?
I have a Listview that houses a FileUpload control. However, after using findcontrol the next line of code tries to convert the filename into a string and produces the familar error object reference not found.
Note: I have used identical code in a formview and it works fine.
I have a master page and content page and placeholders in one of the placeholders in the content page i programmatically add a custom control (with loads of controls inside it.) Basically once all te controls are populated i want click a submit buttom on the form and get all the vales from the controls in the cutom control.
