View 4 RepliesIn asp.net we specify the redirect url when using forms authentications like this:
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms name="myApp" loginUrl="Login.aspx" protection="All" defaultUrl="default.aspx" path="/" requireSSL="false"/>
</authentication>
this means that when a user log in, will be redirected to "default.aspx" using this method
FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(IDTextBox.Text, RememberCheckBox.Checked);
Now is it possible to make the user choose which page to be redirected to prior to login? for example the user chooses from a list the page to login to prior to login then when authenticated be redirected to this page instead of the default.aspx page. is that possible and if so how can this be done?
I'm having an issue Redirecting to the same domain.
For example, the redirection takes place on ServerA.Domain.com/Folder/application.aspx. However, the program redirects me to ServerA/Folder/application.aspx.
The application works fine on this domain, but I'm forced to relogin.
What can I do to force the redirection to the same domain?
I am using asp.net 3.5
Added My Redirect looks as follows:
Response.Redirect("/Folder/application.aspx?");
Does a response.Redirect first postback to the page that's calling the redirect before actually redirecting? I don't think so but my debugging is showing me that it is.
I can see it doing so and that causes me a problem. The problem is this:
1) My page has an asp.net button on it
2) When the button is clicked, the page posts back of course. Then the following is called in the event handler method for that button:
Response.Redirect("Checkout?frpp=1"), true);
3) But I notice that when the redirect is called, it first goes back and hits the page load for this page, the page that's doing the redirecting. Well that is causing me problems because it's calling code that I don't want it to be calling again such as this:
if (!IsPostBackl)
ShowOrderItems();
so it's like I'm doing a 2nd postback:
first postback happens when you click the button, hits the event handler, runs my handler method which calls the Redirect. Redirect is called but it's doing another postback to the same page here..why?
I just observed something with the .net 3.5 VS2010 Login control. It seems to response.redirect is doing
something I cant explain:
[Code]....
after I hit the response.redirect all that is happening is that I stay on the login page and the URL
changes to http://localhost:50324/Account/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fAccount%2fAdmin%2fApproval.aspx
Why am I not properly redirected? I used server.transfer, that put me on the right page (Approval.aspx) BUT as soonas I clicked a button, I was back at Login.aspx.
I am using the AjaxControlToolkit 3.0.30930 (the most recent). I have a very simple page with an UpdatePanel. A button on the UpdatePanel invokes Response.Redirect and passes the URL of a Click Once application on the same server. This works well if I run the website on my local system (Windows 7, IIS 7.5).
If I run the website on a remote system (Windows Server 2008, IIS 7.5, same settings) the redirect simply does not work when invoking the page from remote (using the IP address). Instead a postback is executed. Even if I use the IP address of the webserver to invoke the website locally on the webserver, the redirect does not work. Using http://localhost on the webserver the redirect works well.
I tried another test page with no UpdatePanel: The redirect works well in all scenarios.
I tried out to invoke the ClickOnce application using a link instead of Response.Redirect: The redirect works well in all scenarios, even with an UpdatePanel.
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="TestWithUpdatePanel.aspx.cs" Inherits="TestWithUpdatePanel" %>

[Code]....
Even if setting EnablePartialRendering to false, the redirect works. This is a big clue, that the UpdatePanel causes the problem.
I have 3 roles set up and want to redirect user after login depending on userrole.
my code is:
[Code]....
It seems to hit the first if statement and redirects the admin to the right folder but the members do not get redirected. I am not sure what I am missing.. this seems to be a pretty simple thing to do but will not work right for some reason.
I have a registration page I enter the details of the customers and redirect to another page for capturing photo and I come back to the registration page. I want to retain all the values i entered when i land on the registration page.
View 1 RepliesWe would like to redirect a user to a different page based on his or her credentials.
In other words, if a user's credentials are authenticated, a user is presented with a dropdown list belonging to his/her group to select from.
So far, it doesn't matter what the user's credentials are, the user is not getting redirected.

In my application , i'm having a user agreement page which will get displayed when a user login for the first time, in the user agreement page if any user directly type the next page url, application will navigate to the successive pages without accepting the agreement. i want the user to navigated to the same page or login page when he directly type the URL in the agreement page.
View 3 RepliesFor some absurd reason, the create user wizard is not redirecting me to the home page, when I create a user account. My current code is:

It's strange because the ContinueDestinationPageUrl ="~/Default.aspx" is set.
I upgraded my site from asp to asp.net.This means that all of my previous asp files became obsolete.I don't want to lose my Google Ranking of the old pages.
What is the proper way to redirect?I tried to catch all of the old asp pages is my 404 and then to:
if Request.QueryString("aspxerrorpath").contains("index.asp") = true then
Response.Status = "301 Moved Permanently"
Response.AddHeader("Location", "http://www.domain.com/index.aspx")
Response.Redirect("/index.aspx")
end if
but it doesn't catch asp pages, only aspx.
after user loggs out if he clicks the browsers back button then users had to be redirected to login page

I have created a website which has Secure folder in which i have got a form which only "admin role" users can see. Now that form will appear if login is successful and it works great, if password or username is wrong then again the loginForm will appear which works great too.
Now the problem is if the users which are not in "admin role" enter the user name and password correctly, instead of coming back to the login page and showing them the "Not Authenticated" message, it gives me an error that myWebsite/login.aspx is not found. I think this is because the name for my login page is "AdminLoginPage.aspx" and which is not found and hence it shows me the error. I dont know where to change the login Page name to "AdminLoginPage.aspx"
I'm trying to push data to a form in ASPX, but I dont want to the user to be taken to the post page.
I.e
When a user registers on the site I need to push some data to a form and submit the form without the user being redirected.
Can I configure ASP.NET custom errors so that it would redirect to other site when error has occurred. Even more, I would like to redirect to different web page every time. Here is my simplified actual case: User opens my pages with query? urlpage=[URL] and I would like to redirect to this page when error occurs. How should I act in this scenario?

What I need to do is redirect the user if they are a member of "CD" or "Individual".
I have a list with 2 sorts of items. Items that have actual values (1,2,3,4 etc) and items that are like group headings so all their values are set to 0. If someone decides to select a group heading - which has a value of 0, is it possible to redirect them to my 'Select an item' item which has a value of ""?
If worse comes to worse, I can just reconstruct the entire list, although if possible I'd like to avoid it.
How to confirm a user to save changes whenever user do changes in one page before he/she transfer to another page?
View 1 RepliesI am using forms authentication and authorization through roleManager. I have two Roles - "Customers" and "Employees". The redirection to the default page for the "Customers" role is working fine, but I get an oledb error stating that one or more parameters are not being passed when I redirect a user from the "Employees" role. The following is the code in login.aspx that handles the authentication of the user:
If myReader.Read() Then ' We have a match
If myReader(1) Then ' This is true if an Employee and false otherwise
If Not Roles.IsUserInRole(logInUser.UserName, "Employees") Then
Roles.AddUserToRole(logInUser.UserName, "Employees")
End If
ElseIf Not Roles.IsUserInRole(logInUser.UserName, "Customers") Then
Roles.AddUserToRole(logInUser.UserName, "Customers")
End If
FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(logInUser.UserName, logInUser.RememberMeSet)
Else
Response.Write("Invalid credentials")
End If............................................
