on link click i am using window.open of javascript to open aspx page.
but i want to open new aspx page in ajax controlkit's modal pop-up, because there could be a chance of disabling the pop-up's (window.open) in browsers.
How we can open a new aspx page in update panel embedded on current page. I want to open that page on some ajax event...

I am trying to open .chm file from server. When i download the file from server to my machine, it downloads it successfully but when i open the file it did not show any content in it. View 2 Repliesi have a fileupload control which i use to upload file to the server. after the upload is successful i enable a hyperlink with the name of the uploaded file.
i want the user to be able to view this file in the browser after the file has been uploaded.
i did try assigning the navigateurl for the hyperlink = HttpContext.Current.Request.MapPath(".") + "\folder1\" + fileName;
which dint work. all uploaded files are being stored in a folder inside my solution directory on the server.

what i want to do is that when i press a button i open a microsoft office word located on the c drive then i add some text to it using c# code
then i want to open the file (that i edited and located in memory) in mircosoft office word to see the text that i have added
everything works fine but when i press the button i get a prompt that says do you want to open the file or save it .
questions:
so how can i directly open the file (located in memory) in microsoft office word without this prompt
also if i choose open from the prompt the file opens in the read only mode and the title of the file in the microsoft word become the name of the aspx page which is Default.aspx
so what is going wrong here

I noticed this a week ago but on my Win7 Ultimate x64 computer VS 2008 will completely lock up whenever I open an aspx page in form view. It has no problems opening the code behind and web config file but it will not respond when I try to open the aspx page file. What's up with that?

View 2 RepliesModal Popup user control (its a message box) on top of a modal popup with javascript that maintains postback on a scrollable div all inside of an update panel causes my page to flash on postback of the user control. If any one of the peices (user control, modal popup, javascript) are missing everything works fine. The javascript is maintaing scrollback on a scrollable listview on the page. A modalpopup is shown on top of this main page that is for report parameters. The user control is used for validation and is displayed if a parameter is invalid. I know this may not be the best design, but it can't really change unless its a minor change. Heres the js if anyone wants to see popup or styles let me know.

i have a page with TWO modal popups. Both contain very similar elements.
Both update panels contains a datagrid. At first my update panel would close when i selected an item in the datagrid. I managed to fix this in the first one by properly putting the items that should not postback into an update panel. I cloned the first panel to create the second panel and yet, in the second panel, selecting an item closes the modalpopup.
I'm not seeing what is different about the two:

We have two installs of VS 2008. One on a machine that previously had 2005 installed and one on a new [clean] machine with no previous Visual Studio install.The clean machine install went fine, however when we open an aspx page in design view the layout is "scrunched" up. In source view the text matches the text in source view [of a copy of the same aspx page].In design view on the 2005/2008 VS installed machine, the layout is fine.Layout on the page is done in a "Table", with various text boxes, buttons, gridviews.
And just to reiterate, the aspx file in design view [using VS 2008 SP1] on the machine that has VS 2005/2008 installedlooks fine, no problem.The same page loaded in design view on the clean machine with VS 2008 SP1 installed is "scrunched" up.For example the gridview that should be at the top right of the page is in left-center of the page and the gridview that should be at the bottom-center of the page is also at the left-center, directly on top of the gridview that should be at the top right sideof the page.Have compared the config of VS 2008 on both machines and can't find a problem!
