f I put the description meta tag in the cshtml for my page (below any code block), and I'm using a _SiteLayout page, the tag gets inserted at the bottom of the rendered page. How do I ensure that the meta description tag gets inserted into the <head> section. Is there a helper I'm missing

I have a number of .aspx pages inheriting from a common master page. I need to insert <meta> tags into the master page and this varies from page to page. What is easiest and fastest way to get this done. The thing is, my site is already developed so I dont want to rework/rewrite any of the code.

It has nothing to do with the fact that I don't know how to create them, but I think it has to do with the way we need to set up our site with our hosting company. Our hosting company requires that we have a page called Default.asp with a script that forwards requests to default.aspx which is currently set up as follows:

The Default.aspx page uses a master page. Our meta-tag is currently setup to index the default.asp page, but not to index or follow any other pages on the site. I also have a robot.txt file that states not index or follow any of the pages within the web site. Do I have the meta-tags in the wrong place? Should they be in the Default.aspx page or on the master page instead? If so, how do I format my tags, as if I just copy and paste them, get all sorts of issues.

I know it is possible to add custom headers via the httpProtocol >>customHeaders section of the web.config for 2.0+ sites but this is not allowed on 1.1. Is there an easy way to add meta tags to all pages of a site? I've already tried the httpHeaders tab in iis(6) but with no luck.

The trouble is that the Master Page webform's meta tags (description, keywords and author) is rendered for all web pages. Is there a way in the web-form's Page_Load() event to set this tag? I tried to set it using response.write(), but it added this tag at the beginning of the document, not inside the <head> tag where it is supposed to be? I have managed to do so however when I view the source page I find the meta tags at the end of the Head tag and everything else is before them like reference to JS files and CSS files. I want them to be right after the title tag and then everything else is listed after them: css, js, javascript functions, etc.
2 - I am also trying to create dynamic ASPX pages. Meaning for example: I have a client who has a dynamic website that consists of 3 pages: home page, about page and contact page. He wants to add more pages to his website in the CMS software I created for him. He wants to add History.aspx page for example which is simply created using an editor (no fancy coding like gallery, products, news, etc) but when he hits the save button, I want the new page to be saved as a stand alone page and I want the navigation menu to be updated to the new links which one of them would be history.aspx. I don't want the page to be displayed as page.aspx?Id=history. I want it to have its own name. How can this be possible especially when it is not compiled and I want to add other aspx features such as the caching feature like:

View 4 RepliesWe are observing some strange behaviour in our web server logs where where the Identity of the currently logged in user seems to be getting swapped with another user. I will describe our set up before explaining further.
We are running an asp.net web site (v3.5 of the framework) on 2 Windows 2008 web servers and use forms authentication.They are load balanced using a separate server running Apache 2.2 on Linux (Cent OS 5). The load balancing simply attaches a cookie to a user and directs them to a particular server for each subsequent request.
We notice on occasion patterns in the log like this (details obfuscated)

We are using forms authentication using the standard asp.net forms authentication framework (the standard login control and we implemented a custom membership provider).
The UserName is the Windows identity retrieved using "HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name" The UserId is the database Id set in the session. The sessionId is retrieved using "HttpContext.Current.Session.SessionID"
As you can see the same Windows identity is the same for 2 different users, under different IP addresses and with different session id's, hitting the site about the same time. We checked and the IP's were from totally different locations. The wrong windows identity seems to be getting recorded. UserId 2222 should have a different username recorded.
Since it happens very occasionally, the code is standard and has not changed substantially for some time we don't "think" it is a coding error. We presume either a problem with the load balancer or some problem in the web server. I have never heard of such problems in asp.net before.
The forms authentication entry in the web.config is

'm learning about reporting in VS2008 (no we haven't moved to 2010 yet!), and I like the idea of rdlc files because it seems you can deploy the report as part of a web app rather than mess around deploying it to a report server. Is this correct?We develop tiered apps that use LINQ to SQL, and the .dbml and LINQ queries are in a separate project to the web application. Also, depending on whether we are developing an internet or intranet web app, it will either reference that project directly, or call its methods via a WCF service. However I can't seem to hook up my rdlc to either. From what I've read, this could be because we create "web application" projects and not "web site" projects. So my question is, is it possible to create an rdlc report within a "web application" project and have it use either a business object or a WCF service as its data source?If I try and create a data source in my web app project, it simply creates an XSD, and don't know what to do with this! If I go through the report wizard, all I can do is choose a database data source (i.e. from what's listed in the VS2008 server explorer) - there is no option to choose an "object" or "service" data source, like you can when the rdlc resides in a report project.
View 2 RepliesI've found a Webmatrix help article that says MS Webmatrix "publishes the (SQL Server or MySQL) database by creating scripts that run in a database that has been created for you by your hosting provider." That is wonderful, except I can't get it to work when I'm trying to publish a MySQL database (backing wordpress) through FTP (my hosting provider does not support 'web deploy'). Again, no problem, since it is already documented that " FTP protocols cannot be used to publish MySQL database. " But this does not excuse Webmatrix from generating MySQL database install scripts for me. During the publishing step, no database install script is generated - at least that I can tell - and there is no manual option to create a database export / backup / install script.
In short, as Webmatrix goes, I'm dead in the water trying to get my database uploaded to my hosting provider. Does anyone know the trick to force Webmatrix to create the MySQL database install scripts on my local box? Once created, I can take-over the upload and install process.
I'm wondering if it is possible to include Microsoft.Data.Entity.CTP.dll reference to WebMatrix site and if the Compact edition of the database would support it? I'd kinda love use something like
code-first development in my WebMatrix project. I think is even easier than writing SQL-s into the code...
I started the Bakery site demo...everything runs fine on my local machine.When I publish the site to production server in w2k8r2+iis7.5 and with .net 4.0 (integrate) pool, my bakery apps not able to connect to the .sdf file.
