Then I define my datasource's update parameters as such:

<UpdateParameters>
<asp:Parameter Name="ID" Type="Int32" />
<asp:Parameter Name="IsJustified" Type="Boolean" />

JavaScript Parameters Coming From View's Model Data?

Jul 29, 2010

I've seen/read plenty advocating "unobtrusive" JavaScript contained in separate files. I'm preparing to combine all my JavaScript from three partial views into a single file that I will then reference somewhere in my master.

My question is: is there any type of JavaScript that should remain behind in the html? One example that seems to me may present a problem would be something like:

<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#newQuoteLink').click(function () {[code]...

Am I correct in assuming this script would not work if loaded from a separate file?I mostly wanted to check if there were any caveats or other considerations prior to combining everything into this lone, separate file.

Forms Data Controls :: Update Gridview Command With Customized Parameters?

Mar 22, 2011

I have a asp.net gridview control on my page with several fields and a couple of command fields. However, the update command is giving me problems.

Here is what works. The update command works provided I put straight text into the textboxes that appear. I even have one field that contains a dropdown list which works fine.

Here's the problem. I have two fields that need to access their value programmatically. These fields will reflect the current datetime and the current loggedin user from active directory. I have already created public strings in the C# code.

When I run the edit command on the asp form the grid uses one "DataKeyNames" element. With this the grid can update the selectedrow. However, I haven't been able to access it programmatically in the C# code. I can access the selectedrow in the "selectedindexchanged" event but then I am not able to update my fields in the gridview itself. So, part one of my question is how to I access the "DataKeyNames" properties of a gridview control.

if I can't access the "DataKeyName" property perhaps I could set the label nested within the gridview to the "myCurrentUser()" public string. I am inserting my code to hopefully make this clearer.

AJAX :: Is It Possible To Update The Url When Coming Back From An Request

Mar 29, 2010

for SEO purposes, instead of refreshing the page every click of a product, is it possible to click on the product and when the server comes back with the response, to change the URL of the page to reflect the new link to information currently on page?

point is to have ajax redraw the product details portion of the page but have SEO friendly url's displayed so if people want to bookmark the currently selected product, it will bookmark the right url instead of the generic one to access the products page..

For example... here's my entry point:

Products.aspx

product1product2product3 If I were to click product1, the request goes to the server with roducts.aspx?id=product1 but the url is still products.aspx on the response meaning that when people bookmark the product1 item, and they send the link to a friend, the friend always gets the generic product.aspx page.

I'm trying to get around this without refreshing the full page (postback).

Asp.net - How To Populate GridView.DataKeyNames, Constructing Array From Within A Loop

Mar 10, 2010

I have to set GridView.DataKeyNames(This is really a question about the syntax for a string array, in VB.Net.)

I am discovering the PrimaryKey columns names from within a loop, ie:

For Each fld As IEntityField In Me.llbDataSource.EntityCollection(0).PrimaryKeyFields 'fld.Name ' this is where the column name is stored, so I have to get this into an array Next I can not use this syntax.

GridView.DataKeyNames = new string() { "PowRatHP", "Voltage", "Phases", "Poles", "Drive" }

So, basically, how does one declare a string array (as required by GridView.DataKeyNames), and then populate the elements of the array from within a loop?

The code looks like:

My question is:

How do I populate the DataKeyNames with the properties (FirstName, Surname) contained in the object that is contained in each element of the Generic List?

MultiView GridView DataKeyNames Link To Many View SQLDataSources?

Jun 7, 2010

I have a MultiView control with 3 View controls inside it.

View1 contains a GridView control with 2 DataKeyNames assigned.

View2 contains a FormView and a DetailsView control.

View3 contains several DetailsView controls.

When a row is selected in the Gridview I'd like to update View2 to show data relating to the selected row DataKeyName 1 and View3 to show data relating to the selected row DataKeyNames 1 and 2.

I have previously tried configuring the SQLDataSource to use a WHERE clause setting the Source Control to the GridView object but I couldn't get it to work. There was nowhere to state which DataKeyName to use as the parameter.

Forms Data Controls :: Two DataLists Bound To One GridView With Multiple DataKeyNames?

Mar 11, 2010

I have a gridView, with two DataKeyNames: MemberID, and CommitCustomerID.

One DataList has this sql statement:

SELECT * FROM [tblMemberProfile] WHERE MemberID = @MemberID

It pops up perfectly fine.

I also have another DataList with this statement:

SELECT * FROM [Incidents] WHERE CustomerID = @CommitCustomerID

I know this sql command works I have tested it with my data.

However I dont think the DataList is getting the proper value for the selected row in this DataLists case.

How can I make sure when I select the row in the GridView the proper parameters are going to the proper DataList sql statements?

Forms Data Controls :: Update Dropdownlist With Detailview Control - Set Update Parameters?

May 10, 2010

I searched a lot of threads but still couldn't get my problem fixed. I have to update the "regform" table with two fields: session_ and session2. These two fields are inside the detailview edititem template which bounded to dropdown list drpsession1, drpsession2 separately. I wanted to pass the update parameters to the update sql UPDATE dbo.regform SET session_=@session_, session2=@session2 where id=@id

the @session_ is bounded to a drpsession1 and @session2 is bounded to drpsession2. I used
ControlID="ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$DetailsView1$drpsession1" to access the dropdown list within the detailview, but still couldn't do the updates. What's wrong with my code? Do I have to use the code behind to specify the update parameters? and How to do it? TIA.
