Nov 22, 2010

I've got this repeater on My .aspx page :

[Code].....

The question is, how can i get the Dropdownlist value from the repeater ? And the dropdownlist value is executed within a method(let's say : "private void InsertDatabase()")

This code purpose is to insert the Dropdownlist value to the database, and it's fired when the Button is clicked (I put the ""private void InsertDatabase()" on the "Click" event of the button.

DropDownList Event Not Firing Within Repeater?

Nov 13, 2010

I have a custom DropDownList control, SDropDownList. I am trying to register and fire the 'SelectedIndexChanged' event. I obviously started by adding the OnSelectedIndexChanged="method" attribute to the markup but it would not fire the event. I also tried registering it programmatically in the OnBound event of the Repeater

protected void rptrSection1_Bound(object sender, RepeaterItemEventArgs e)
{
var ctl = e.Item.FindControl("ddlS1") as SDropDownList;
ctl.SelectedIndexChanged += new EventHandler(ddlS1_SelectedIndexChanged);
}

Dropdownlist Inside A Repeater On Screen

Aug 10, 2011

I have a drop down list inside a repeater on a screen. I have no problems populating the list with all of the options at the time of binding. Everything works out fine EXCEPT the load time.

All of the options are there so it's fine. But my users would like me to fill the drop down list with the values at the time they click on the drop down list.

The repeater itself is inside an AJAX Update panel.

So I am trying to figure out how would I fill the drop down list with the actual values when they click on the drop down list inside the repeater inside the update panel?

Forms Data Controls :: How To Bind A DropDownList Inside A Repeater

Oct 29, 2010

I am new to ASP.NET, trying to learn it. I am using ASP.NET 3.5 with VB for scripting. Also read some books. I just can't figure out how to bind a DropDown List inside a Repeater Control. I saw a few examples but none were clear enough and explained all the details. I want to populate the Drop-Down using values from a Database inside the repeater.

I also read this article [URL] but still can't understand how to bind dropdown in a repeater.

I want to display 2 things inside the Repeater Control.

1. User Selected Values (which comes in the form of an Arraylist) from a previous page using "PostBackUrl" method.

2. Then allow users to select values from a Dropdown list corresponding to each design code they selected on previous page. (the dropdown values here must come from a backend db)

Also, I want to control the number or rows displayed inside the repeater control. It should be equal to the number of "design codes" selected by the user on a previous page.

Here is my code so far ....

ASPX Code:

Forms Data Controls :: Understanding Dropdownlist Within A Repeater Control

Sep 26, 2010

Asp.net 3.5 using code behind I am using a repeater control. My datasource appears in code behind. I decided to NOT have my listitems populate from the database. I want the user to select a value, send it to the database via an update statement, and then when the user returns to the page (on pageload), have the user's previous selections appear on the screen. note the following:

When I use textboxes and labels, ALL of my data appears within the table of the repeater control. However, when I replaced one of the text boxes (originally used for testing purposes only) with a dropdownlist, I get the following error message'ddlDDuring' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items.Parameter name: value My Repeater1_ItemCommandI updates the data within the repeater perfectly. On page load, I want the data from the database to display as the dropdownlist's selected value (or selected item.text). Here is my Asp code

<asp:Repeater ID="Repeater1" runat="server"
onitemcommand="Repeater1_ItemCommand">
---
<
td><asp:Dropdownlist ID="ddlDDuring" runat=server SelectedValue ='<%#Bind("DueDuring")%>' >
<asp:ListItem Value="-select-" Text="-select-" />
<asp:ListItem Value="1st half" Text="1st half" />
<asp:ListItem Value="2nd half" Text="2nd half" />
<asp:ListItem Value="Split" Text="Split" />
</asp:Dropdownlist> </td>
---
C# code behind
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!Page.IsPostBack)
{
---
string myConnectString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString;
myConnection = new SqlConnection(myConnectString);
strSelect = "SELECT * FROM UserExpenses WHERE UserId=@UserId";
mySqlCmd = new SqlCommand(strSelect, myConnection);
myConnection.Open();
mySqlCmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@UserId", LoggedOnUserId);
myReader = mySqlCmd.ExecuteReader();
Repeater1.DataSource = myReader;
Repeater1.DataBind();
myReader.Close();
myReader = mySqlCmd.ExecuteReader();
while (myReader.Read())
{
ExpAmount = Convert.ToDouble(myReader["Amount"]);
TotExp += ExpAmount;
---

I tried the following code changes on asp page: I changed "SelectedValue" to "Text" and still get the same error message I changed "SelectedValue" to "SelectedItem" and don't get the error message, but dropdown is not populated I set AppendDataBoundItems = true Set first list item value = "" Verified that every field in the table column matched the items in the dropdown list. There were NO null fields in the database.

I just want to understand this error message, as I have exhausted all that I am doing. I also made an attempt to bind the dropdown list, but sine this can only be done within the loop of finding the repeater control, I would either get an error message, or it just would not work.

C# - Repeater - Save Data In Viewstate With The Dropdownlist Selection Change Action?

Mar 21, 2011

I need some help in the technical approach with the following scenario:-

1) A dropdownlist with some options. It has a postback action on the selectedIndexChange server side event handler. For example, lets say it contains language options such as english, french etc.

2) Repeater with a label and the textbox control. For example label is Emp Name and textbox is containing the Emp Designation. We have to save emp designation in the various languages.

3) Every time i pick something from the dropdown, i have to flip the textbox control and fill the form. Now i want to save the given data of the texbox in the viewstate. So that every time, the user changes the dropdown selection, he can see the repeater data corresponding to the dropdown selection.

4) I guess some kind of relationship between the dropdown option and the repeater data is needed. But how can we make this thing work.

Now which is the best technique to save the data on the server side? I have to keep it in the viewstate.

Forms Data Controls :: Retrieve Dropdownlist Value Inside Nested Repeater?

Jul 15, 2010

I'm having a problem trying to retrieve a dropdownlist value that is located within a nested repeater. Basically I'm trying to create a shopping cart that allows the user to select a shipping method and the shipping method is contained in the repeater. So my page structure looks something like this.

Gridview

[Code]....

To me this should work, but the problem I'm facing is that there are no repeater items. The Items.Count property in the repeater is 0. I am not calling DataBind on the Gridview nor the Repeater before this code is reached (this code is the first thing that happens in my button click event) and my binding is done inside a !IsPostBack statement in my page load. I've made sure databinding is not occurring by setting breakpoints on the code that databinds both the gridview and repeater.

It seems to me like the nested repeater is losing it's viewstate or something on a postback. If that's the case, how can I get the selected value of that dropdown control inside a nested repeater?

C# - Nesting Repeater In Gridview: Hiding Gridview Row And Repeater Header If Data Is Not There In Repeater?

Apr 21, 2010

I have nested a repeater control in Gridview. Right now it is showing gridview rows and repeater header for every case(whether data is there or not for that particular grid view row in the repeater control). I want to hide the gridview row and repeater control header when there is no data present for that particular gridview row. That case I handled at code level by filtering the resulted data table.

Now the another problem I am facing: I have allowed the paging on the gridview i.e. pagesize 3. When page loads it works fine, but when I go to page 2 then it generates following error: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index

Below is the code to fill the grid, paging and fill repeater on rowdatabound event of grid.

Forms Data Controls :: ImageButton Inside A Repeater That Is In Another Repeater & Events?

Jan 18, 2010

I have a user control that displays a shopping cart in an ecommerce application.

The main cart display is a repeater that renders as a html table. In one of those table columns, there is another repeater to display people associated with the products int he cart (it's a repeater in case there is a line item >1 with multiple people).

I've added an ImageButton that I want to use to change the person associated with the item. At first, when I'd click on it I was getting this error:

Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

So as an experiment I disabled EventValidation on the page (not the control it's self) and now I do not get an error, but I also do not ever hit the breakpoint I set in the innermost repeater's ItemCommand event.

So I wonder how I might do this without disabling EventValidation, because this control will show up on multiple pages and we don't want to edit them all. Also, I'll need to know not only the repeater containing the control's row that the event came from but also the row index of the repeater containg this one. Is this possible?

row3 tour2
row4 tour2
subtotal
total

Forms Data Controls :: Hiding A Repeater Div Using A Link Outside The Repeater?

I have links at the top of the page that are the letters A-Z. What I want to do is click on one of the letters, then show only the div IDs that start with that letter. I can't figure out how to do this since I'm dynamically creating the ID names. I had it set up nicely with Javascript and CSS, but the function call was inside the repeater.
