is there any tutorial about how to run a unit testing on a web page (events...etc) in visual studio 2008? is it even possible? i can find anything to start with

I upgrade to windows 2008 R2 the project, and the cdo library seems to old (Windows 2000 library).
I would like to replace the library and I want to know what is the best library to use smtp sink event?
When writing up a codebehind in Visual Studio for ASP.NET web forms applications, I often use the dropdowns at the top of the window to autogenerate page event handlers (e.g. Page_Load, Page_PreRender). I've noticed that sometimes Visual Studio likes to add numbers to these function names like "Page_Load1" or "Page_PreRender2".
View 2 Repliesif a asp.net web site project is created using code behind as C# language then the Page and its controls events are not shown in the DropDown at top of the editable area in Visual Studio.But contrary to this if code behind is VB.NET then in the DropDown all Page events and its controls events are shown.
Is the same possible with code behind as C# language ?

When I double-click on a control in the designer screen to go to the vb code page so I can code on some events, the control does not show in the control dropdown which means I cannot get to all of the different events. The only way I can do this is to add a line like below inside the class at the top:

I am working with another project that does not have this problem. Is there a setting that changes this?

But when i go to Design View of the page (for creating the events automatically or for drag/drop any new control from toolbox, I don't want to type everything) the design view only shows the master page! the page controls are complete ignored!

Something happened on my work computer where the Start Page for a website is not saved. I now need to save the start page every time I open a web site project (which is quite annoying).
I have confirmed that this is happening by also seeing that the Property Pages do not retain the setting either. This happens for every web site project as well.
Where and how does .NET 2008 store the start page setting for a web project? I have looked in the solution file, but could not find it there.
I want to have 4 links in the sidebar of master page which every other form (content page) in my web application inherits.

This is the content in the master page as you can see there are 4 menu items i tried to form as sidebar and i tried to inherit in home.aspx(one of the content pages) as follows:

But unfortunately the sidebar is not at all getting displayed. I know i'm doing fundamentally wrong some where. My intention is to have web pages to have sidebar like this. It is a screenshot of my intended page.

Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]
In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.
I work in VS 2008. Whenver I add a server control(Label) and set it properties in aspx.vb and build the solution, I get the error "Label1 not declared". While analyzing this issue I noticed that the event handler statements for the Label1 where not added in the designer.asp.vb file. These statement would actually be added automatically when I drag and drop a control to my webpage.
I would also like to inform the scenario after which this problem came to me. I was working in VS 2008 , VS 2005 and VS 2003 in the same machine.Could this have caused the issue ?
Now each and everytime when I add a control, I am adding the "With Events" code in the designer page to make my build succesfull which makes me to spend more efforts.
this sound may too easy, but for a person who has no idea about the asp.net is not. I am using visual studio 2008 and I want to add a drop down menu in my page. does any body have any idea how to add this please? The dropdown menu should be linked to a table from an access database since I am going to collect the data with C# therefore I decided to post in in this forum.
View 3 RepliesI have an asp.net project in visual studio 2008I press F5 and the "test page" does not launch and I don't understand why.Looked at the properties for the site and "start action" is correctly set to "use current page"Similar question. assuming it automatically launched above, how does one open a 2nd instance of the current debug site (seems like their ought to be a "launch site" button?edit: I went back and launched VS as admin and it did launch the site. Maybe this is a security issue?

It was working fine for months & i formatted my comp & when i tried to reinstall it is not getting installed !
It shows the following error !
and the error log file seems to be like this...
BUT.,
I'm able to use Visual Studio & i'm able to work in it....
I'm re-installing since 2 days for more than 4 times...

How can I ensure that web application converted from 2003 visual studio to 2008 visual studio
to have two files as it is when create a web file in visual studio 2008.The web application is in Chsarp. I have converted these filesfrom 2003 to 2008 but they still have three files each.

Every thing i do in the code behind file is saved with out any problem, also if i edit the .aspx file but in sourceview, the changes are saved, but if i drag a control from the toolbox onto the page designer and set some properties and then save, nothing will have been saved when i close and re-open the page, all changes are lost.

I have been working on this project for weeks. Every thing was fine. But all of sudden today, I got this error: Page cannot be displayed when I was trying to debug as usual.
I searched online for solution. Only one solution was found at [URL]. But when I followed its steps, I found in my hosts file, it is already like this: 127.0.0.1 localhost
I cannot continue to work without testing finished form pages.
