C# - MembershipUser Class - Comments Method Doesn't Work?

I'm unable to set Comments property of a MembershipUser type objects.
E.g.
MembershipUser mu = Membership.GetUser(username);
mu.Comment = "someComments";
I'd expect this to set the Comment property of mu object to "someComments" and write changes to the database.
Later, I do a following check:
mu.Comment == "someComments";
Comment property is set to null. Is there anythign that I need to change in a web.config or...?

I've just discovered that the X-Requested-With header in IE is always "XMLHttpRequest, XMLHttpRequest" instead of just "XMLHttpRequest". I found the reason in MicrosoftMvcAjax.debug.js at line 280 (MVC 2.0). Seems there is no need to add this header again as it is already done in Microsoft AJAX Library. And because of this IsAjaxRequest extension method doesn't work anymore if there is no X-Requested-With param in the request body. And this make X-Requested-With header useless in IE.
In Firefox there is no problem as it doesn't append but replace the existing header value. Not tested in other browsers.

I am trying to use YAF with Umbraco. The newest version out changed enough where the old integration methods don't seem to work. I have gotten everything fairly far on my own but I have hit a brick wall with this error: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information.

I have a feeling that YAF is not starting up the database. In previous versions of YAF there was an INIT module that you loaded in your web.config file. This module is no longer there (YAF.Base.YAFInitModule).

i have a masterpage and other pages. i want to use findcontrol method to find a textbox (not on the master page) to check whether it is empty or not.

I have a menu (linked to a sitemap) wrapped in to a panel surrounded by a round control extender. The menu has StaticMenuItemStyle, StaticHoverStyle and StaticSelectedStyle. The first 2 works like a charm but not the StaticSelectedStyle. On click of the menu item the screen is redirected to appropriate page, but the menu item cssclass is set back to StaticMenuItemStyle. The background of the menu items are images. I tried some of the solutions from other posts, but no use.

I am porting my simple Role Based Auth to ASP.NET. It requires this check on each page:

If put in each page's OnLoad, it works fine. But when I add it to the masterpage, it doesn't work. Is there something about the ServerVariables or Session Object that would prevent using those in a masterpage? Is it an issue calling my class from a materpage?

I have problem to show method value on asp:Panel.

In this case, I can't show value myMethod at code behind to aspx file where this method is called.
If I use postBackTrigger in upControl updatePanel then the method(myMehod) will show on upShow updatePanel. But the updateProgress doesn't work.

I'm using the default SqlMembershipProvider,but I've created a custom MembershipUser class (SoeMembershipUser) because I needed a "DisplayName" property.All the DisplayName does is look at the UserName and format it differently.When I try to cast a MembershipUser to a SoeMembershipUser user I get an InvalidCastException.
Exact error is:
"Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.Security.MembershipUser' to type 'Soe.Tracker.SoeMembershipUser'."
Here is the code that fails:
SoeMembershipUser user = (SoeMembershipUser)Membership.GetUser(username); // invalid cast
I have also tried casting later like so:
MembershipUser user = Membershipship.GetUser(username); // ok

Writing a custom membership / role provider and have to validate user with extra parameter to Membership.Validate. So, instead of Membership.Validate(username, password) I need Membership.Validate(username, password, client).
Is this possible with the existing MembershipProvider? I would have liked to pass a new MembershipUser to the Validate method but didn't see anything that would work for that.

I have an ObjectDataSource that I want to perform updates using a business entity i.e. Type="Object"). Since the values for the entity are within a user control, I have stored a reference to the control in Session and in the updating event, set the new instance to the value of the entity from the user contol property (which also pulls values from the form viaother properties of the control):

My question is, how can I get the update method to pass this entity to the update method in my BLL class? It seems the Update method requires an ID or reference to the original object to use in determining whether any changes have taken place, but I don't really want to do this. In other words, I just want to use the Update event on my ObjectDataSource to pass my entity to the method ("Update") I set as a property and then let this business method handle the update of the data. Shown below, is the BLL update method I want to call:

last parameter in the list). Perhaps what I'm doing here is atypical to how the ODS is normally used?? Has anyone done something like this successfully?

Currently, only GenericOfflineCommentary's ExtractPageData() is firing. How can I modify this to first run OfflineFactsheetBase's ExtractPageData() and then GenericOfflineCommentary's?
edit: I'm trying to avoid having to call base.ExtractPageData() in every implementor.

I am a new to WCF. I have written ajax to use a web service before, but on this project I am trying to use ajax to WCF.After I build the project and wcf using ajax, I receive the return successfully. But, 10 or more minutes later I don't get a return, the ajax calls the error function, and the fiddler returns nothing.
If I rebuild the project without any source modifying, I receive the return successfully again.

I have a WindowsForm that has a DataGridView that shows output of my app. The class with the button is DriveRecursion_Results.cs. I want it so that once the button is pushed by the user, my method FileCleanUp() in my SanitizeFileNames class is called. I'm not quite sure how to do this though.Here is the code for both classes:

I'm just trying to teach myself a bit of CSS and it's pretty straight forward but I am getting something odd.
I built a css file, tried out various rules, all good.
Now I edit the css file. Everything compiles ok but it's still using the rules as they were before I edited them. I've even removed some of them from the css file and they're still being used. I tried removing the reference to the css file and the rules all stop being used (as I'd expect) but when I add the reference back in and the old rules reappear but not the new ones.
I'm guessing there's some 'built' version of the css file and that's what's actually being used. But rebuilding the website isn't causing the built css to refresh itself so my edits aren't being picked up.
edit> forget it, I was hitting f5 not ctrl f5. Just a bit of cuture shock switching from desktop dev.

I am trying to save an updated xml file to a url like this:

I am following though the examples in Professional ASP.Net MVC 2 and one of the examples doesn't work for me.
