C# - Open ID Restricted To Single Subdomain?

Mar 31, 2011

We have a website where user registration is very specific to sub domains, i.e if you get registered as usera to sub1.sample.com, then you can register with same user name usera with sub2.sample.com

Now we are planning to implement OpenID. How can I restrict this behavior if OpenID is implemented?

Redirect Subdomain To Subfolder Of Another Subdomain?

Nov 15, 2010

What I want to do is take traffic that is going to shop.mywebsite.com and redirect or rewrite (I'm not sure of the terminology) the domain to be www.mywebsite.com/shop. Both shop.* and www.* are separate web applications (nopCommerce and Umbraco respectively) that don't seem to cooperate when I've tried to nest them. Both applications are in a Server 2008 R2/IIS 7.5 environment.

I've searched around stackoverflow and what I've found is a lot of answers to mapping the other direction (ie subfolder to a subdomain) but that's not what I'm looking for as far as I understand the problem.

The end goal is to combine the SEO reputation of the shop subdomain into the www subdomain. I readily admit that I might have this all backwards and am willing to try any suggestions I'm offered.

Subdomain Cookie (parent And One Subdomain)

Jan 31, 2010

I have an app with multiple subdomains, subone.parent.com, subtwo.parent.com.

I have a logon page at parent.com/login. When a user logs in I redirect them to the proper domain based on which one they are a member of. This works fine.

FormsAuthenticationTicket ticket = new FormsAuth...
string encTicket = FormsAuthentication.Encrypt(ticket);
var cookie = new HttpCookie(FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName, encTicket);
cookie.Domain = subone.parent.com
Repsonse.Cookies.Add(cookie)

This properly authenticates the user for subone.parent.com and not subtwo.parent.com. However I would like to do the following.

If the user goes back to parent.com, I would like to know that they are logged in and redirect them back to subone.parent.com.

Is there a best practice for accomplishing this? Or do I have to set another cookie for parent.com?

I'm working in asp.net mvc if it matters.

Prevent Viewing A Restricted Page On Pressing Back/forward Button?

Jan 21, 2011

I am trying to implement Login/Logout functionality in my website without using inbuilt functionality of Login controls in ASP.NET. In some pages, which require the user to be logged in, I have written this in Page_Load

if (Session["cod"] == null && Session["admin"] == null)
{
Response.Redirect("You need to Login.aspx");
}
if (Session["cod"] != null || Session["admin"] != null)
{
LinkButton1.Text = "Logout";
}
if (Page.IsPostBack == false)
{
log_bind();
grid1_bind();
grid2_bind();
}

But while I was testing this, I noticed that when I press the Back/Forward button on the browser, these pages are viewable without being logged in. How do I prevent this?

Forms Data Controls :: Using Multiple Tables Within A Single DataSet And Single SqlDataSource?

May 19, 2010

I have a stored procedure that returns 3 tables within the single recordset it returns. If I set a SqlDataSource to get data from this procedure, it works, but it only returns the first table. I want to have a GridView display the data from the 2nd or 3rd table using a SqlDataSource, but I can't figure out how to specify a particular table.

While there are some posts discussing this out there, I can't get a definitive answer about whether or not this is even possible (?). In a worst-case scenario, I can create another SP that only returns the 3rd table - but that creates a little maintenance headache that I would prefer to avoid.

DataSource Controls :: Using LINQ To Pull Out A Single Value From A Single Result Row Of A Join Query?

May 25, 2010

For context: First of all, I am new to LINQ, as I have been using SubSonic for quite some time now.

I have two tables, Users, and Affiliates. They both have a very typical schema. The FK that joins them is the UserId field, which is in the Affiliates table. I want to create a LINQ query that pulls the Username from the Users table using the AffiliateId value. The AffiliateId is a primary key of the Affiliates table.

I have tried to accomplish this using many variations of the following code:

[Code]....

In the above query, I expect to get a single row result set. However, I instead receive the entire table of results.

How can I make this work? I have yet to see an example or article out there to do what I am trying to do.

MVC :: Asp.Net Routing With Subdomain?

May 7, 2010

I am using MVC 2.0 to create my application,my problem i s related to the routing. Actually in my application each user have required seperate subdomain,like

www.example.com/user1/ ,www.example.com/user2/ ...etc.the default domain is www.example.com.So how can i make it possible with routing in mvc.

i have tried like this,
routes.Add(new Route("{id}", new RouteValueDictionary(new { controller = "User", action = "login", id = " " }), new MvcRouteHandler()));
var defaults = new RouteValueDictionary(
new
{
controller = "Home",
action = "Index",
id = UrlParameter.Optional
}
);
routes.Add(new Route("{controller}/{action}/{id}", defaults, new MvcRouteHandler()));

But the problem is that it take deafult (www.example.com) directly to user login page.I want the default page as Home/index and when www.example.com/user1/ it will go to user login page.
