Web Forms :: How To Return A Relative Path

Apr 19, 2010

what it does at the moment is return an absolute path for example h:myfile . however, this is causing me problems because when browsing to the page, it is not returning the file i need because it is looking for a h: drive which the client machine does not have. so i was thinking i need to return a relative path so the not looking straight to the h: drive and rather it is just looking for the filename. i have also created this as a virtual directory on iis which is where is looks for the file location.

IIS7 Application Configuration - Placing Into Single Physical Path And Creating Multiple Pointing To That Path

Dec 20, 2010

I have a custom ASP.NET application that I utilize for several clients that I host. Each client has a separate domain and the application is normally a child application under the root domain [URL]. The application files are the same (aspx, ascx, style sheets, images, etc.). The only thing different is the web.config file for each client. As development of the application continues to evolve, I have to update the application for each directory and this obviously becoming tedious. I am trying to come up with a method keep the application up to date. My first though is placing the application into a single physical path and creating multiple applications pointing to that path (the problem with this method is I can't have different web.config files). I am curious as to what solution others are using in this scenario...

Configuration :: Website Launches With Local Path Rather Than Web Path When Debugging?

Mar 29, 2011

When I press start on my VS2010/Silverlight/C# project, it opens a new instance of the included webserver and opens my browser window so I can test the application. Unfortunately something has happened and I am not sure what it was.. The browser window now opens the starting page with a local machine path (C:...page.aspx) rather than the normal webserver path through http (http://localhost:33592/page.aspx). It is a Silverlight Navigation project using c#/asp.net code behind.

Converting Relative Path To Tilde Path?

Apr 4, 2010

I have this master page, that uses a few .js files and a flash animation.

the <script> and <object> tags that are used to embed these in the page take in relative paths as src. However, since the pages .aspx, i'll need to convert these into tilde paths, ie. somehow change the relative paths to tilde path (is this the absolute path?), so that i can use the master page in any of my pages in subfolders as well. if this question has been posted b4, kindly give me a link... i've not been able to find a solution.

MVC :: Routing Relative Path Instead Of Absolute Path?

Jun 9, 2010

When I write following code in my view

<% Url.Action("Logon") %>
the mvc framework generates
/Account/Logon ({controller}/{action})
as path.
'/Account/Logon' path is an absolute path. Is there a way to change is to a relative path, like Account/Logon or ../Account/Logon.

Also, when I use the Html.Beginform(), the mvc framework generates <form action="/account/logon"..., I want to change this to <form action="account/logon"...So, problem is that I want relative paths instead of absolute path.

Forms Data Controls :: Sorting GridView Doesn't Work After Using A Select Statement Involving: FOR XML Path('')?

I have a GridView; one of the columns displays concatenated records from a tables. to extract the records that are going to be concatenated and put in this column, i have used: FOR XML path('') and it works just fine for displaying those records. the problem now is the whole gridview can not be sorted anymore and gives me a 404, document not found, error whenever i try to click the columns to sort. here is my select statement for my sql datasource select command:

SqlDataSource2.SelectCommand = "Select a1.*, keyword = substring( ( SELECT DISTINCT ', ' + keywordName FROM keywords JOIN key_mm_articles ON key_mm_articles.keywordID = keywords.keywordID WHERE key_mm_articles.articleID = a1.articleID FOR XML path(''), elements ),2,500) FROM articles a1 WHERE title LIKE '" & titles & "' Order By a1.articleID"

Root Path With Tilde - Doesn't Change Upper Case To Lower Case

Dec 30, 2010

I have my project set up with the virtual path "/MyVirtualPath", create the virtual directory in IIS 6 (W2003) and everything works fine. Then to work better with Google Analytics I change the virtual path "/myvirtualpath" and change all redicecciones and links to lowercase. also applies the class "lowercase route urls in aspnet mvc" and works perfectly.

The problem I had to modify the virtual directory in IIS, delete virtual path "/MyVirtualPath" and I created the new "/myvirtualpath", but in all cases I use tilde "~" or where I make a "RedirecToAction" (which should take "LowercaseRoute"), continues to maintain the virtual path "/MyVirtualPath". For example, if I see the HTML source code in the browser, see "/MyVirtualPath/Content/Site.css" instead of "/myvirtualpath/Content/Site.css. "

SQL Server :: DAL Doesn't Return The Return Value Of Stored Procedure?

Nov 8, 2010

I have an update function in my data layer which is defined as:

public int UpdateRBTable(parameters ...) This calls a SQL Server Stored Procedure to perform an update function on the database.

The process does its job for updating the table. However, the stored procedure has a return value (which indicates how many rows were updated), but this return value is not returned to the application. The application always shows that a zero was returned from the stored procedure.
