C# - Populate Checkboxes Via Database?

Apr 15, 2010

I have to populate checkboxes with data coming from database, but no checkboxes are showing on my page. know the correct way to do that. In C#, the page_load method I've written is this:

public partial class dbTest1 : System.Web.UI.Page
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string Server = "al2222";
string Username = "hshshshsh";

[Code]....

And in the .aspx, I have this:

<asp:CheckBoxList ID="Interests" runat="server"></asp:CheckBoxList>

Web Forms :: Inserting Multiple Checkboxes Into A Database

Jun 14, 2010

I needed to redesign the input page. I have in place individual checkboxes to represent fferent selections. For the database, the result for these checkboxes are in a seperate table. The insert only works for the first table which are textboxes. The information is not getting stored for the checkboxes. I have it separately eventually the checkboxes will be used for a search feature. For example, the information of the company, phone, address are getting inserted into the database but the checkboxes refering to the business is not being stored. What am I doing wrong with my code? Am I missing "true" for the checkboxes? The following is my code:

MVC :: Update Database From Dynamic List Of Checkboxes?

Mar 8, 2011

I'm fairly new to MVC and have an issue converting something I created using normal ASP.NET to MVC framework.I have a database with one to many relationship between 2 tables. I need to be able to make amendments to the single parent row in the same page as that which will edit the many records. The values to be edited in the table with many rows to be edited are either true or false and will be edited using a checkbox.

To make it a little more complicated the list of checkboxes is actually dynamic and is built from another table.In the normal ASP.NET page, all the controls are placed in a details view and the dynamic list of checkboxes is added to a placeholder on Page_Load. Then I get the list of values that are true and, for each row in the list, use FindControl to find the checkbox with the appropriate ID and set it to flagged.

I've got the MVC page working so far as follows:

I can build the checkboxes I need by passing the list of ID's using the ViewData.

I can also add, and edit the fields that are in the table with the single row that needs to be edited.

What I'm stuck on is:

Populating the appropriate checkboxes with "true" as appropriate

Subsequently saving any updates to the checkboxes when the save button is clicked.

Forms Data Controls :: Show Checked Checkboxes In Gridview From Database

Mar 4, 2010

I have situation where I have to show checked CheckBox in a GridView. I have three tables

1) Menu Items ( Fields: menuID, menuName, menuLink, .....)
2) User Types (Fields: userTypeID, userTypeName, ...)
3) User Menus (Field: menuID, userTypeID )

I have a screen to add new Menu Items where I am showing a Grid That has two columns

1) CheckBox and
2) User Type

I have to check CheckBox in order to Link that User Type with the Menu Itme. I am done with Add Screen. Here is the Code:

(aspx)
<asp:GridView
ID="gridView_UserTypes"
runat="server"
AutoGenerateColumns="False"
DataKeyNames="userTypeID"
Width="60%"
EmptyDataText="">
<HeaderStyle
CssClass="gridHeader"
Wrap="false"
/>
<AlternatingRowStyle
CssClass="gridAlturnateRow"
/>
<RowStyle
CssClass="gridRow"
/>
<Columns>
<asp:CheckBoxField
DataField="userTypeChecked"
HeaderText="Select"
ReadOnly="false"
Visible="true"
/>
<asp:TemplateField
HeaderText="Select">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:CheckBox
ID="userTypeSelector"
runat="server"
/>
</ItemTemplate>
<ItemStyle
HorizontalAlign="Center"></ItemStyle>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:BoundField
ItemStyle-HorizontalAlign="Left"
DataField="userTypeName"
HeaderText="User Types"
HeaderStyle-Wrap="false"
ReadOnly="True"
SortExpression="userTypeID">
<ItemStyle
HorizontalAlign="Left"></ItemStyle>
</asp:BoundField>
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
(Code Behind)
foreach (GridViewRow row in gridView_UserTypes.Rows)
{
// Access the CheckBox
CheckBox cb = (CheckBox)row.FindControl("userTypeSelector");
if (cb != null && cb.Checked)
{
// First, get the UserTypeID for the selected row
int userTypeID = Convert.ToInt32(gridView_UserTypes.DataKeys[row.RowIndex].Value);
if (selectedUserTypeIDs == "")
{
selectedUserTypeIDs = userTypeID.ToString();
}
else
{
selectedUserTypeIDs = selectedUserTypeIDs + "," + userTypeID.ToString();
}
userTypeCount++;
}
}

Now I am passing selectedUserTypeIDs along with other details to my Stored Procedure and adding those UserTypes for newly Added menu. It works fine for me. Now I want to show checked CheckBox in Edit Mode.

Web Forms :: Populate DDL Using Data From Database?

Feb 19, 2011

I have a simple ASP.NET assignment to complete. We are supposed to create a simple database with one table. That table should contain records that contain a question and 3 possible choices. We need to populate a DDL with the 3 possible choices. But, as far as I can tell, you can only populate a DDL with a FIELD of values, not select values from one row.

Is it possible to get select values from a row of data in a databse using an AccessDataSource and populate a DDL with them?

Populate Dropdownlist From Years In Database?

Jan 22, 2011

How would I setup a dropdownlist to check the dates in the database and populate it based on the years of the dates currently in the database? So if some dates were from 2010 and some where from 2011, it would display a dropdownlist with two options in it...2010, 2011.

I have dates listed in my database for a schedule system and would like to add a dropdownlist so I can only list the dates for the current year by default, then a user has to select a date from the dropdownlist to see any dates from a different year. Otherwise, it just shows all dates, regardless of year...
