I have a page with several dynamically generated DropDownLists. The DDs load and display the correct values on page load. However, when I try to retrieve the values at post back, the DDs all seem to be maintaining the values they had at page load.
All are created in Page_Load;
No test for IsPostBack;

When I insert a value in the TextBox2 and want to select only the rows from the GridView from different pages which have value in the first column the same as the value in the TextBox2, after clicking on Button1 I get this error:

I wanted to know if we can pass values from Parent page (in this case from Default.aspx page) to the user control and maintain those values on subsequent "Add/Load" of user control.
So in short, if I click the "Add" button it loads my "webusercontrol" and also I am able to pass my default.aspx dropdownlist value to this dynamically loaded user control and assign it to a "Label or Textbox" which resides in my "webusercontrol", now the problem is that the value doesn't persists! What I meant is , when I click "Add" button again the "webusercontrol" gets loaded again perfectly but now all my "Label's" in webusercontrol has the new selected value from the default.aspx dropdownlist.
So say for instance I have a Dropdownlist in Default.aspx page with Values "Apple, BlackBerry, Nokia" and initial value to be passed is "Apple", I click the "Add" button, now my "Label" inside webusercontrol has the value "Apple", perfect! Next when I click "Add" button again and select a different value to be passed this time say "BlackBerry" now I have 2 webusercontrol loaded on the page, so that means I have 2 "Labels" with different ID's, but now my first Label initially had the value "Apple" because that's what I had passed and now when I passed the value "Blackberry" both the labels of my webusercontrol has the value "BlackBerry" instead of one being "Apple" and another "BlackBerry"
Is there a way to resolve this issue? may be Dictionary List?
I have some problems with maintaining scroll position after postback. First time I experienced the problem was when I (believe) added Combobox control from AJAX control Toolkit and/or UpdatePanel from AJAX Extensions. The problem is when I do the postback on the page the page is loaded at the top and not where I did the postback. Actually, this wouldn't be a problem if it isn't happening on a very large form. I have already tried using MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback="true", but it wasn't helpful at all. I can provide the code if needed, but I don't think it would be of any use because I have comboboxes inside update panels which are rebinded on a button click.

View 6 RepliesI have a web page that regularly refreshes on post back, and all of this works fine. However, a user has made enhance the page, which I need with:
1) There are 3 asp.panels on the page, which are scrollable vertically. When the page refreshes, the scroll position returns to the top. The enhancement is to maintain the position of where ever the scrollbar is on postback. How do I keep the scrollbar position on post back?
2) Within each of the panels are dynamically added web controls. These web controls contain gridviews, which are themselves contained inside div tags. These div tags can be hiddened and made visible by an image button. This hidden and visible state is actioned by some javascript on the page. Again, the user has asked how it is possible to maintain the state of these div tags on post back, i.e. those that are closed and those that are visible. Currently, the state is on postback for all the div tags to be visible. How do I maintain the state of the visibility of a div tag during postback?
This probably has been asked many times before but I was wondering how to maintain the ActiveTabIndex of an AjaxControlToolKit TabContainer. The only way I can think of achieving such a thing is to store the ActiveTabIndex in the session and checking for this on postback. Are there any other solutions to solve this problem?
View 2 RepliesValues in multiselect dropdown not getting selected when Select All option is selected for a SSRS dropdown. There are multiple dropdowns on the page. We have one dropdown whose output is being used to populate the second dropdown using a stored procedure. When we check the Select All checkbox on the dropdown then ideally upon page refresh all the values should get selected in the dropdown, but in this case the page refreshes back to the blank dropdown, forcing the user to select the values again. The next dropdown too does not get populated. This makes it impossible to run the report for all the cases by using Select All. We ran the report on differnet database environments. My current location is Mumbai,India, the report worked fine when we ran it on a Bangalore,india database. This issue occurs when we try running it on a Chicago database server. I am using SSRS 2005, SQL2005.
View 1 RepliesI am using the AJAX Contol Toolkit and 4 CascadingDropDown extenders with an ODBC connection in a Web Service. The original load of values in each level works great. I then use these values to set the create the SQL for the SelectCommand for a Gridview.
The problem I am having is that when I submit the page to perform the search, the first 2 dropdowns repopulate and set the selected index accordingly, but the 3rd dropdown does not retain its selected value. It does populate with the values, but the selected value does not get set.
The correct values are available for the SelectCommand which returns the correct values.

Is it possible to put focus back on a gridview row after that a selection of the row generates a postback?
I'm trying to add an onkeydown handler on the gridview rows in order to use the keyboard for navigation. My problem, I believe, is that after the first postback, the selected cell loses focus, and so the next key stroke is not caught by the cell.

I want to stop postback if a certain value from a ddl is selected.
I've used VB to create a page whereby if a certain value from a ddl is selected then a hidden panel becomes visible. The problem is the likely answer to a majority of my ddl's is 'No' (or a no type response), however, even though the panel visibility remains false upon selecting No a postback still occurrs, the page refreshes and moves back to the top. I suppose this is a question with 2 possible solutions (or 2 questions rather)
1: Is there anyway of setting postback to false if selected value = No? A typical example of how my code appears is below

2: Is there a way of setting the page position after postback? As you can see in my code above i've set the focus on the next control (being a Radio Button) but i mean, is there an actual way of defining where the scroll bar is set?

The control appears to work correctly across postbacks, that is until declarative values are set, e.g.:

After this, the text box continues to work correctly, but the _state member does not pick up the posted back values and instead just sticks to the declared value. I've checked the raw posted values in the Request object, and the new value for the list's UniqueID is there, but _state doesn't pick it up.

The procedure is as follows:
STEP 1:
One selects items from the dropdown lists and click the Search button.
The ListView displays all the entries that match the criteria.
STEP 2:
Each entry in the ListView is clickable to select more details in the FormView.
Everything works perfectly well. However I'm testing the selected values after each postback based on the following script:

Now after STEP 1 (Search button) I get the selected ddl values. GREAT so far.
However in STEP 2 and in order to get the selected value of theListView I have to click twice on the same entry in the ListView. The ListView1.SelectedValue is returning 0 after the first click. The correct value is displayed after the second click.
What is the code to get the values of the selected data table row?
I set up the double click event, but I can't find anything that will get the values of the selected row.

I have a really massive page/controller which i have been able to code well enough. The user can edit information on this page and wont get it saved to the database unless they specifically say, save. However, there is a list at the bottom of this page that you can add/edit and delete elements. Adding and editing takes you to a different page, and before the page change happens, i want to save the form data to session memory, but i dont know how to access it outside a postback. Can MVC do this?
View 1 RepliesI have two checkboxes: cb1 and cb2. They are both hooked up to an onClick event which checks if at least one checkbox is clicked. If this is not the case, it throws an alert and reverts the change. If a legal change was made (e.g. cb2 was checked, followed by cb1 being unchecked), the function calls the server function checkChange() which needs the object and eventargs.
I'm having trouble with the following:
Reverting the change: how can i find out which checkbox was clicked without adding an extra javascript function for the second checkbox? This has to be a scalable solution as more checkboxes may be added later.
How do I call the server function checkChange(). I am aware of "this.Page.GetPostbackEventReference" but I am confused as to the parameters it takes.
I have a DataGrid that has a dropdown list in an ItemTemplate. Basically, users select a value from the dropdown for each row of the datagrid. When the page is posted back, the selected index of the dropdown list is always reset to 0, and the items are re-bound.
Does anyone know why this might happend? The dropdown items are hardcoded, so there is no external data binding that happens on post back.
