C# - Register Multiple Controls At Once Via Namespace?

Mar 3, 2011

Is it possible to register a complete namespace of usercontrols in an aspx-File, instead of each control seperately?I have created a bunch of usercontrols and collected them into an own namespace "MyWebControls", like this:

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="LevelFilter.ascx.cs" Inherits="MyWebControls.LevelFilter" %>

Codebehind:

namespace MyWebControls
{
public partial class LevelFilter : System.Web.UI.UserControl
{
...
}
}

What I tried now to include them in my pages (and what did not work):

<%@ Register Namespace="MyWebControls" TagPrefix="ucs" %>
...
<ucs:LevelFilter />

Is there any way to do this? Apparently it works with external assemblies like AjaxControlToolkit, so I guess this should be possible.

C# - How To Register Multiple JavaScript Calls To Run On PostBack

Feb 10, 2011

I have an ASP.NET page with two instances of the same Web User Control (a simple WYSIWYG editor). On submit, the WUCs do a little JavaScript magic and then proceed with a normal postback.

The first instance seems to be working, but the second fails to post changes back to the server (it reverts to the original, and posts that). I believe the problem is that the JS only fires for the first WUC. I've traced that to the following code, from the generated client-side source:

function WebForm_OnSubmit() {
prepHtml('AddEditPopup1_ctlEditorQuestion_txtEdit','AddEditPopup1_ctlEditorQuestion_divEdit', 'AddEditPopup1_ctlEditorQuestion_divHT' );
//snip...
}

The problem seems to be that there should be two calls to prepHtml: one for the ctlEditorQuestion instance of the WUC, and one for the ctlEditorAnswer instance.

Instead, there's only the one for ctlEditorQuestion. Both controls are registering the OnSubmit event, but one of them overwrites the other.The prepHtml call is registered from the WUCs' C# code at runtime:

//Page_Load
_onSubmit = String.Format("prepHtml('{0}','{1}', '{2}' );",
txtEdit.ClientID, divEdit.ClientID, divHT.ClientID);
//OnPreRender
Page.ClientScript.RegisterOnSubmitStatement(this.GetType(), "get-html", _onSubmit);

I should point out that I didn't write this control myself, and I've never seen this kind of runtime registration of OnSubmit JS code before. Page.ClientScript.RegisterOnSubmitStatement is totally new to me. I need to register both prepHtml calls so they run sequentially. Is this possible? I'm open to alternatives to Page.ClientScript.RegisterOnSubmitStatement, so long as the code still gets fired on submit.

DataSource Controls :: Server Error: Namespace Linq Does Not Exist In Namespace "System"

I am getting this compilation error"

All my pages are receiving this error - website is down; here's the code:

Except my web config file shows linq is accounted for? [Code]....

I would note that I updated to VWD Express 2010 then had to revert back to 3.5 because my host at Arvixe had not updated my server yet. He then said he updated it and I reverted up to 4.0 again. It turned out he hadn't and I tried to revert back...and then this showed up and numerous other errors.

MVC :: The Type Or Namespace Name 'Controllers' Does Not Exist In The Namespace 'XXX' Error In VS2008

Jan 23, 2010

I use vs2008 and my MVC 1.0 and 2.0 Projects were working perfectly but all of a sudden i have an error on trying to compile all of them;

The error is of the form;

Error 1 The type or namespace name 'Controllers' does not exist in the namespace 'XXX' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

Error 3 The type or namespace name 'Models' does not exist in the namespace 'XXX' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

Error 4 The type or namespace name 'AccountController' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Error 5 The type or namespace name 'IFormsAuthenticationService' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Error 6 The type or namespace name 'IMembershipService' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

These errors seem to come from the HomeControllerTest and the AccountControllerTest.

note that i recently installed Azure Tools using the Web Installer..Dunno if that could be the cause or problem.

Error:Compiler Error Message: CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Secure' does not exist in the namespace 'source_extranet' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

The line that the Error points to this line in the class:

Forms Data Controls :: Unrecognized Namespace System.Web.UI.DataVisualization.Charting?

Feb 10, 2011

I'm getting a warning in my page directives saying that this namespaceystem.Web.UI.DataVisualization.Charting isn't found. I went to add a reference to the project so I could import the namespace and this namespace does not exist in the .NET tab. What do I need to do to get this working? Also, even if I add this to my Global Assembly Cache, that won't do anything for the web host web server that my website is publically on.Any guidance on this? How to get it on my local machine as well as understanding that it'll work on the actual web server?
