Apr 27, 2010
I've create an asp.net MVC 2 project, it works fine!!
I've been asked to integrate the project in an existing web project in classic asp.net
(I've add the folder containing the source, and not make a new project, because they have to bee in same project)
I've configured my web.config file
<pages pageBaseType="System.Web.UI.Page" >
<controls>
<add tagPrefix="asp"
namespace="System.Web.UI"
assembly="System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" />
<add tagPrefix="asp".......

I created a MVC project. Added a area "SampleArea". Then added a controller "Log" in the area. Generate a view for "Index" in the log controller.
Modified the global.asax to this
routes.MapRoute(
"Default", // Route name
"{area}/{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters
new { area = "SampleArea", controller = "Log", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } // Parameter defaults
);
I also modified
ontext.MapRoute(
"SampleArea_default",
"SampleArea/{controller}/{action}/{id}",
new { controller="Log", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional }
);
Pressed F5 and it is giving err "The view 'Index' or its master was not found". How do i fix it?
The sample can be downloaded from here [URL]

I'm at the moment trying to learn to create gadgets for EPiServer, and to do that I have to go through MVC, which I'm a bit new to. I'm following this tutorial:[URL]The solution has 2 projects in it just like the tutorial does, the first one is the EPiServer project and the 2nd one is the gadget MVC project called QuickChat.In the EpiServer project I write in the config (just like the tutorial) to point out the gadget:

I would like to do some customizing to the T4 template used to generate code for views added using the Add View dialogue in VS 2010. Assuming this is, in fact, done with T4 like traditionally ASPX views, where can I find this template? I have successfully customised the ASPX template, but I can't recall where I found it.

We have a website build in the umbraco 4.1 cms (webforms) default .net 3.5 And we have some MVC tools and controls build with MVC2.0 on net 4.0 i've managed to let the umbraco cms run in .net 4.0 and i've been following parts of this guide (for mvc 1.0 and umbraco 4.0.3) but now i'm stuck, umbraco has alot of url management itself, so i use the urlRewriting.net (included in umbraco) to redirect a certain url, to [URL] for example. i know the url rewriting works (if i force an error into the mvc.ashx i recieve it in the browser window. but each time it gets to the ProcessRequest it throws a "resource not found" error to the screen here is the full code for mvc.ashx that i use
<%@ WebHandler Language="C#" Class="mvc" %>

using System.Web.Mvc;

{
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext httpContext)
{
string originalPath = httpContext.Request.Path;
string newPath = httpContext.Request.QueryString["mvcRoute"];
if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(newPath))
newPath = "/";
HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(newPath, false);
IHttpHandler ihh = (IHttpHandler)(new MvcHttpHandler());
ihh.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current);
HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(originalPath, false);
}
public bool IsReusable

i have very few knowledge of mvc, though i am a certified umbraco developer. what i suspect is that there are some routing issues, and the views folder is not found or something like that.

I am looking for a way to save index information when iterating through items in a ASP.net MVC 2 using the SPARK view engine. I often have a partial view that iterates through items and a button to add new items.
I want to save the index after displaying the existing items and then pass it back to the same partial view to create and display a new item.
For instance:
<div class="small">Enter the rooms associated with this facility.</div>
<div class="add">
<div id="rooms">
<AddRoom each="var roomModel in Model.FacilityRooms" RoomModel="roomModel" Index="roomModelIndex" />
</div>
<div class="add">
<a id="addRoom" class="add" href="events/room/add.mvc">Add a room</a>
</div>
</div>
<p>
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</p>
</form>
I would like to save the Index from the AddRoom loop and use it for the "Add a room" button which calls the AddRoom view again with a blank room object.

I want a view that contains 2 partialviews. 1 partial view should be a create or edit view (of items) and in the second partial view there should be a list with the items that are created (and which can be edited). When an item in the list is selected for editing the 1st partial view should show the edit view with the item to be edited.
After saving the data, the create view should be shown in the 1st partial view again. When the view comes up for the first time the 1st partialview should contain the create view. In normal ASP.net I would do this with a formview (with insert and edit mode based on the itemselected in the gridview) and a gridview (and of course everything in an AJAX update panel).

I'm trying this example: [URL] I got it to work before, like 6-months ago. I'm coming back to this now and I can't seem to get the example working. Do I need to create a query in SSMS and then set up my Master/Detail views off of that? It seems like the GridView is NOT linked to the DropDownList and it seems like there is no way to link the two Objects.

I have made a mvc 2 asp.net application on a development server 2008 R2. The site works fine with IIS 7 and windows 2008 R2 on the development server... When I deploy the app to a remote accept. server, routing seems to be broken and only the master page with no contentplaceholders are rendered. I only see a empty Master page. It looks like the accountcontroller is not fired and no View is returned.

I've got my Controllers in its own project, my Models in their own projects, and the Main App in ITS own project, which contains the Views folder.
So when I open up my controller cs file and right click on, say for example, the Details action and choose "Add View", it creates a Views folder within my Controllers project, and adds the view there. I want it to add the view into the Views folder in my Main App project. How in the world do I do this?

I have an application I'm currently working on that requires Administrators to be able to track the views of a ticket and it's duration.
I've got the tracking of the number of views by users sorted out, I have a table that contains a TicketID, UserID and a DateOpened. Each time a user visits the page, a new row will be inserted.
However, the way I would like to track the duration of views is by having a DateClosed field in the table which will allow me to work out view duration in the code as opposed to storing the time directly.
I can't use Google Analytics or anything Third Party for the task either due to internal policy as it's an intranet application.

I have a Controller set up for a certain View. This View contains 2 partial Views (ascx files). Each partial View has a Controller method that yields its DataModel. The containing View doesn't currently display any data, but just serves as a container for the 2 partial Views.
Here's the problem: The Index action of the containing View runs, but the Controller methods for the partial Views don't, so I get a null exception when the Model tries to render out the data that should be available. I'm using MVC 1.0, which is something of a bummer, since it seems that the next version is supposed to have something other than "RenderPartial" that will assist with this very issue. However, since I'm stuck for the moment with 1.0, can anyone give some advice on getting the Controller methods to run for the partial Views?

I've recently began learning ASP.NET MVC.I created my first project, and added a model via Linq TO SQL. The first model handled a database table that held a list of menu items.I then created a view and the view would loop through all of the menu items returned by the controller and build a custom menu for me.
I then created a Model via Linq TO SQL to point to a table that hold's my site articles.I created a view that would itereate through all of the site articles returned by the controller and list them in the view.
Now I've taken the logic from the menu view and created a partial usercontrol view to build my menu. I've done the same thing with the SiteArticles.
How do I make the data from both of these modles availble in one view?I basically want to HTML.RenderPartial("MenuControl") in my master page and RenderPartial("ArticleControl") in the conent of the view.
I'm using the original view that i created to show articles..
So If i remove the rendering of the menucontrol user control from the master page and i call the view to show the articles, the articles will render because the controller knows to load the articles and return them to the view..
If i add the menu user control to the masterpage, I get an error because the view recieves data from the site article model/controller but not from the menu model/controller.

The view 'Index' or its master was not found. The following locations were searched:
~/Views/Search/Index.aspx
~/Views/Search/Index.ascx
~/Views/Shared/Index.aspx
~/Views/Shared/Index.ascx
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
My Views folder will be in ~/XYZ/ABC/Views instead of ~/Views. Will I get any problems If I change the default Views folder location. Do I need to change anything in HTML Helper classes because I don't know anything in MVC as this is my starting project i dont want to risk.

On my projects I am using Razor View engine and I need to define custom Partial folders:
[Code]....
I had this because there was a problem in MVC 3 Preview. Was it corrected?
How should I register the Partial Views in MVC 3 Beta?

I have a partial view (user control) that is shared by my Create and Edit views. When I use it in the Edit view, I have to to include an hidden field (Html.HiddenFor) to prevent a 'Row changed or not found' error in my data service, but when I use it in the Create view, I have to remove the PK hidden field, to prevent an error over trying to insert into an identity column. It is not feasible to not use identity columns in this application, so how can I 'switch' that PK hidden field on or off depending on which action has been invoked?
Post Action Code:
[HttpPost]
public ActionResult Edit(JobCardViewData viewData)
{
try
{
jobCardService.Update(viewData.JobCard);
Edit View Excerpt:
<% Html.RenderPartial("JobCardInput", Model); %>
Partial Excerpt:
<%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<Poynting.Installation.Web.ViewData.JobCardViewData>" %>
<% using (Html.BeginForm())
