I have two extremely long queries that I am running on multiple tables, using an INNER JOIN. The only difference between these two queries is that they take different input values for one of the WHERE clauses, which they get from two separate DropDownLists. The results of these queries are identical, save for the time1/time2 columns.string query1 = "select Name = t1.name, time1=(SELECT hours FROM table3 WHERE street=list1.selectedvalue), t2.address from [table1] t1 INNER JOIN [table2] t2 ON t1.param = t2.param ORDER BY Name"

I have created a dataset in the ASP.Net. I'd like to use the same dataset with my SSRS Report.I am aware it is possible with the ReportViewer.LocalReport with the following code:ReportViewer.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(ds).What I'd like to do is to associate the dataset with ReportViewer.ServerReport so I can avoid calling the stored procedure and save on performance time.

To Add new row to a dataset table, I am using code below. Before adding this how do I check if that row has already been added to the dataset?
Example:

i have dataset having one table have 5 columns fill data from database.
When i run application datatable contains more than 50 rows, I would like to update value of datatable after getting data from databse. My requirements are This table have few cells having Null value, I would like to replace null with "-" ? One column is System.datetime datatype, where i would like to remove time. I would only like to have date?
Here i am thinking that i apply one loop of rows present in datatable and update cells accordingly. But i am searching any direct update method?

I have a SQL stored proc that returns a dataset to ASP.NET v3.5 dataset. One of the columns in the dataset is called Attend and is a nullable bit column in the SQL table. The SELECT for that column is this:
CASE WHEN Attend IS NULL THEN -1 ELSE Attend END AS Attend
When I execute the SP in Query Analyzer the row values are returned as they should be - the value for Attend is -1 is some rows, 0 in others, and 1 in others. However, when I debug the C# code and examine the dataset, the Attend column always contains -1.
If I SELECT any other columns or constant values for Attend the results are always correct. It is only the above SELECT of the bit field that is behaving strangely. I suspect it has something to do with the type being bit that is causing this. So to test this I instead selected "CONVERT(int, Attend)" but the behavior is the same.
I have tried using ExecuteDataset to retrieve the data and I have also created a .NET Dataset schema with TableAdapter and DataTable.

I want to read complete column from the dataset using select command or whatever without looping the rows of the table.Because in table i got 35000 records i only want to read a one complete column from the top to the end using dataset.
Eg: select column_name from table.
lly, dataset.tables[0].select["Column='Product'"]

I follow the tutorial and create DAL with Dataset. I created a Table Adapter with many column, but when i Call a simple Get for 2 column only. The system display 2 column and the rest column with empty data.
example: Table with 40 column define in Dataset in DAL. I have GetMember from Dataset with 40 column, some request only 1 column (with 39 empty), some request 22 column (with 18 empty column). Will this affact the performance?

I have a datatable in MS SQL that has FirstName and LastName. In MS SQL I created a computed field called FullName that was ((rtrim([LastName])+', ')+rtrim([FirstName])) I created a DataSet and a Business Logic Layer. In my typed DataSet I saw FullName in the listing when I created it. I am able to use FullName in my webpage. I use it to populate a dropdownlist. However, now when I make changes to the Customer Table I am getting this error message (seen below)
Question: Should I have created the field FullName in my MS SQL Table or should I have left it alone and somehow just added a column to the DataSet and placed an expression in the FullName column? The column "FullName" cannot be modified because it is either a computed column or is the result of a UNION operator. I have a stored procedure in my database that sorts a dataset by distance from the specific address input by the user. The distance is created among each individual users query and the sorting of distance occurs within my stored procedure, the distance is not returned in the output. Is there a way I can create a temporary column that returns the distance so that I can give the user an option to sort by distance?
