i want the code to disable default selection in dropdownlist in asp.net and also on selection of a particular data field the values are displayed in the txtbox below.the dropdown should be filled with system related data like eg c:drive, d ... etc dynamically at run time.

For my ASP.NET page, in the code behind I load various items/options into a DropDownList but I do not set a default by assigning SelectedIndex. I notice for the postback SelectedIndex is set to 0, even if I never set focus to or changed the value in the DropDownList.
If not otherwise specified in the code behind or markup, will a default value of 0 be used for the SelectedIndex in a postback with a DropDownList? If yes, is this part of the HTML standard for selection lists, or is this just the way it is implemented for ASP.NET?

I have a dropdownlist on my page with dates such as 1/1/2013, 2/1/2013, etc.
Then there is a second ddl.
If the date in ddl #1 is before 1/10/2013 I want to enable ddl #2.
If the date in ddl #1 is on or after 1/10/2013 I want to either disable ddl #2 or hide it (whichever's easier).
Disabling ddl #2 based on the selected date is a new requirement so I am enhancing the existing code. Obviously I want to do this without a postback, but I don't know what is the best way. I am trying to understand what an AsyncPostBackTrigger is because this is the existing code:

So my ques is how am i going to populate staffname in the dropdownlist according to the selection of department.

When i select the a branch code i need the second dropdownlist box to populate with the appropriate branch name and the third dropdownlist box to populate the bank name at the same time.

I had use a combox to let user select staff name and then it will automatically retrive the responsible recommending officer and approving officer to display in other 2 dropdownlist.
my code works fine but when user select staff name each time, the page will reload once to refresh the dropdownlist.
user complaint and don't want the page reload every time, how can i disable the postback? I need to use ajax?

I have a custom control with four checkboxlist(Country, City, Outlet, Stores) controls in it. When user uses browser embedded autocomplete list and selects any element by pressing "Enter" button, validator fires. Always validation is not passed. Email pattern is proper. When user press "save" button, validation passes correctly.

View 1 RepliesFor some reason, i have to make a aspx page to let iphone/android to Post form. After the data processing of request.form , i have response a JSON string in plain text. However *.aspx will enforce to render html,head,body tag,so how can i disable it?
I cannot use ashx, because the mobile have to post image via form, as i search the answer by google ,ashx cannot handle the http post files.
Edit: As SLaks said, ashx can handle POST file using "context.Request.Files" and it works.
