how can i replace the response.write with any label or literal? when i tried to use a literal on the code it displays one single string not all of the strings that's been splitted.
I am creating a string that is a list of comma-delimitted values by looping through the selections in a CheckBoxList.I am able to display this value, so I know that it is creating what I expect. I am attempting to pass this list to an IN statment in a SELECT query:
[code]...
However,I do not understand when this would be converted to an INT. I have tried many different formatting attempts (such as encapsulating the string in parenthesis (e.g. "(4,5)" ) for the SELECT query, but I have yet to find the right one to make this work. It seems like formatting is the problem, but perhaps I am missing something else.
I want to create a program that allows me to enter the name of a table, a field along with a value. The program should concatenate the values to form a valid SQL select statement. I can also modify the program to include multiple field names and values. Example: -Select “FieldName” from “TableName” where “FieldName”= “Value” I have created 3 textboxes called and 3 labels named Select, From and Where This is my code here, i would need an assistance on the right way to achieve this, maybe mine is wrong.
Partial Class _Default Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim SelectItem As String Dim From As String Dim Where As String SelectItem = txtSelectItem.Text From = txtFrom.Text Where = txtWhere.Text lblDisplay = "Select" & " " & SelectItem & " " & "From" & " " & From & " " & Where End Sub End Class

String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated. I'm using the following code but some times(not all the time) i get the above error ....
I have a SqlCommand object on my c# based asp.net page. The SQL and the passed parameters are working the majority of the time. I have one case that is not working, I get the following error:
String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated.
I understand the error and but all the columns in the database should be long enough to hold everything being sent.
Is there a way to see what the actual SQL being sent to the database is from SqlCommand object? I would like to be able to email the SQL when an error occurs.
I have a select statement in a stored procedure and want to be able to retrieve the key column value (PRODUCTID)and return it as Output when Select statement is executed on input Parameter (NAME).
addition, return two further output values (COST,TOTAL).
note the grid control expects to receive all values at once! so i need to get out these values at the same instance of execution.
Select productID,COST,QUANTITY,NAME,TOTAL,DATE FROM PRODUCTS WHERE NAME=@NAME
I am having difficulty selecting data from 2 tables that do no share a primary key value. For instance, I have an actual table, a forecast table, and a GLText table. I may have an actual value but not a forecast value but I need them to appear in the same Query (like the query results shown below). I can get all values to appear in each table but have been unsuccessful in getting all values from both tables.
I want to retrieve the full SQL that my Web Application generates and executes on the database. So when the INSERTED or UPDATED events are triggered on the SqlDataSource, I want to get that particular SQL Statement.
The problem I've got there though is when I use "e.Command.CommandText" that gets the SQL statement with the paramter names NOT the paramter values. I specifically need the values.
So... how can I get it to display the full SQL statement containing submitted values!?
I want to have a default value/item of "---Select One---" and then list all of the values from the SQL statement. Currently I am having trouble doing this. I tried to add it to the List Item but it doesn't show on the page.
For efficiency's sake I've created a number of stored procedures to run against an SQL table. Which procedure runs depends upon the checkboxlist choices a user makes before clicking a button. The checkboxlist looks something like this:
What I can't figure out is how to loop through the checkboxes in the Button1_Click event in the .cs code behind page to add up the values of the selected items. (The value of an unclicked box being 0.) Converted to a string, the totaled value is then appended to a stored procedure name (MyPROC) for entry into the SQL statement. In other words, if the user clicks just Item 1, then the Button1_Click event would produce a stored procedure name of MyPROC1, insert it into the statement, and fire off the query; if Item 1 and Item 3 are selected, then MyPROC101 would be called.
My second question is: how do I place the concatenated string into the SQL statement?
This might all seem a bit unorthodox, but given the number of variables going into statement, it seems to this newbie the best approach.
how do i multiply the columns like this. for now static explanation would be ok but eventually i would like to make it dynamic so there would be a text box for users to enter the amout they like e.g 160g then the table would know to multiply the columns by 1.6.
I have a SQL query I'm running in an ASP.NET page. The final parsed SQL needs to contain a list of string values in the WHERE [columnname] IN [values] format. For example, the final query might look something like this:
SELECT PRODUCTNAME FROM PRODUCT WHERE PRODUCTCODE IN ('ABC','DEF','GHI','JKL', /* etc */);
However, the string values in the WHERE clause need to be dynamic. Normally I use parametrized queries to make my code convenient and safe, so conceptually I'd like to do something like this:
String[] productCodes = { "ABC", "DEF", "GHI", "JKL" }; SqlCommand cmd = "SELECT PRODUCTNAME FROM PRODUCT WHERE PRODUCTCODE IN (@ProductCodes)"; cmd.Parameters.Add("@ProductCodes", productCodes);
However, this sort of functionality doesn't appear to exist in .NET. How should I go about implementing this? I could use a foreach loop on the array and run a query with a single value as a parameter for each value, but there could potentially be a hundred or so different values in the array and it seems like querying them separately would be very inefficient.
I've read another question where someone suggested a solution for strongly-typed int parameters, but that method would make me nervous about SQL injection when used with String values, especially since the client may very well be able to influence the input values.
