how to get those attributes from openid server? send me some example code in asp.net, c#...
I am currently playing with DotNetOpenAuth to make an ASP.NET (C#) website use OpenID instead of the normal login-password routine for user and session handling. Up till now, I have added the DotNetOpenAuth.dll into my project and tried a test login page with the following: <rp:OpenIdLogin ID="OpenIdLogin1" runat="server" />
When I run the page, I enter a valid myopenid url and the website redirects to the myopenid page, where I enter my password, and upon success, it returns back to my default.aspx, due to the following in my web.config:

</authentication>
Now that the user is "logged in", how can handle my session? At the moment, I don't know how I can, for example, check if the session is still alive or how to terminate the session. My basic question is, how can I manage the session once the user is authenticated with OpenID ?

I am now using the following to check for authentication: HttpContext.Current.User, and with that I can now check if a user is authenticated with a session. Now is there a possible way on how I can "link" user details that are stored in my database with an openid account?
I'm using DotNetOpenAuth as my membership system, and the way I have it working now seems to be working quite well. What I'd like to do however is build into my website the ability to check user credentials against the AuthCookie rather than a session. In the membership provider, I can check for the username like this

What I'm wondering is if there is a way to extend this so that I can retrieve custom properties from the AuthCookie rather than having to create my own session object. Currently I have this setup.

What I really need to be able to do is remove the Session stuff all together and just simply check the AuthCookie for my custom properties ID, RegionID, Username, and Slug. I can already get the "ClaimedIdentifier" out of the AuthCookie using HttpContext.User.Identity.Name... I just need to be able to extend it.

There are sample codes on the net for OpenId Client but none for OpenId Server. Do you know some? I know about dotnetopenAuth but there seem to be no tut on how to use as OpenId Provider. I don't even know if it can do that. Maybe it can just be used to create openid consumer app.

I have one application form in which i want to store image of student with enrollment no and when i submit i want to store that image and take that image on another page on submit button two things should be done

Our application lets the administrator create new users. Since the administrator is logged in, I have set Logincreateduser = false so that the administrator is not logged out even after creating the new user.
The problem is :I need the userid of the newly created user to store additional details of the user in another database table. I see that i can get the username using Createuserwizard1.username; but how do I get the userID?
Iam using asp.net 3.5 with c# coding in my application. I observed in all the aspx forms, whenever users clicks on Submit button, his details are getting stored and iam disabling the submit buton, but when he refreshes the form, still it is storing the same details again into the database. I Debugged the code and i checked that even at the time of Refresh it is going to Submit button code. How to avoid this at the time of refreshing the page.

View 16 RepliesIm working on an application that has a login section that accepts a username and password. On successful login a userid is returned and encrypted with TripleDesKey. The user details are then stored in a session object. We already have a class library that performs encryption and decryption using a key in the web.config file. I basically want to be able to access the user details of the currently logged in user in a page accessed from the main site that may be in a different domain, but is effectively part of the same site, so I wont have access to the session object from the main site. so basically a user logs in, I have the user details stored in a session object, I also have access to the encrypted userid also in a session object. If a user then clicks a link to another page that is in a different domain, how do I persist the userID?
I suppose I could I tag the encrypted userid to the querystring, but security could be an issue here (even though the id is encrypted, someone could still modify it)

I new to ASP.net and have created the registration form and login using the wizzard. This data is now stored in the relevent tables provided by asp. I also have created an extra table with profile information like address, phone number etc and a USer ID field that links with the aspnet_users table.
I am trying to display the details of the user when they log in so for example...
User logs on, clicks profile page, profile information can be added and viewed.
Now the problem is I am using a Select statement to get the data but when I do a Where statement im not sure what to put to basically say where userid = current user id logged on.
I am using asp.net membership and trying to update a users details but get the following error:
Error2 Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'New' accepts this number of arguments.

I've built a Repository that gets user details

I Was trying this in my Global.asax, but I'm not really happy using Session variables. I'd rather have a single object with all the details inside.
