View 3 RepliesI am absoluetly confused. My web app has a checkbox list that my code is looking to see if the user checked it. Like I said, very simple stuff... Here's the code:

The odd thing is that when it gets to this bit of code it just moves right past it like it wasn't checked. The same thing happens when I use a single checkbox (rather than a checkbox list). I've tried a bunch of different ways to make the code work but I'm left to the conclusion that I'm just not telling it to do this correctly. Either that or my project is messed up somehow.I say that my project is messed up because when I add an object to the page in Design mode, it doesn't write the source code. So when I save and close, all the modifications are mysteriously gone. This happens on multiple PC's...So, is the checkbox problem just me not doing something correctly or is my web project messed up?
How can i generate dropdown lists based on what has been selected in the checckbox list. 1) There is a checkbox list bind to <List> of objects from object datasource (For total items in list)
2) Now I want to check the selected items for a particular record in this list
3) For this purpose I have another list of <List> selected items returned by data access layer (For selected items for that employee )
4) How do I bind the selected objects with the total items list ?
5) In spaghetti coding model it was all too easy just by binding the checkbox list with a sql data source and running a for each on form load

I have <asp:Button ID="btnDelete" ..../> and <asp:DataList ID="lstOrder"..../>
"lstOrder" has <asp:CheckBox ..../> for each "lstOrder" item. I am binding "lstOrder" to DataTable at run time (DataTable is being created dynamically"
"btnDelete" first loops through the "lstOrder" and stores the indexes of items which are marked(checked). Next rows are deleted from the DataTable and "lstOrder" is binded again.
I don't want to postback if none of the items are marked in the "lstOrder"

how to do with cilent validation
Let's say we have a entity to add - an Invoice with multiple Lines

The Lines is valid if and only if it has ObjectName and Color
Now, when in AddMode , the requirements are to show enter a new Invoice with 10 Lines by default .
This was easy (binding to an object that contains list, right?) - but in validation mode, the ModelState.IsValid is validating all my 10 lines - regardless if the user have been entered only 2 lines.
I have tried to remove the empty lines by writing a Binder for Invoice, inheriting from DefaultModelBinder and removing the empty lines ( those for ObjectName AND Color both nulls or empty ) .But, no matter what overriding method (CreateModel , BindModel ) I have used , no success. The binding model occurs first.
I have tried to do ModelState.Clear() and ValidateModel(invoice) in the controller. But ValidateModel is not validating "sub-properties of complex properties" - see comments from

If you know how to either :
a) re-validate all properties (including for complex object)
b) modifying the model before ModelState grab errors
c) ?
(I can not debug with MVC2 source code - but this is another post...)
