C# - Set The Width Of A Textbox When Editing A Row In A GridView?
Oct 18, 2010
I've got a GridView that can be edited. My problem is that when I click Edit, the textbox is too small (the File Name column). It isn't large enough to display its contents, and it isn't as wide as the rest of the column.
There's C# code behind this to update the data, and that works just fine. I hope the solution to this is in the ASP, but if the solution requires some C# code.
Now when I select "Edit" it increases the with of the gridview and makes scrollbars because the width increase. This is because it creates texboxes for each column for me to edit...but the width increases soo much..
in the code below, the string sFoodFormReceived1 always gets today's date. I dont know how to make the date clicked on the datepicker bind to the textbox in the gridview gvReservationsWithForms.
Is it possible to set the width of the textbox in edit mode equal to the width of the column before entering edit mode? I basically want to go into edit mode without change the size of the grid and without just setting the textbox width property to a specific number.
in this artical your using 3 text box inside the grid for searching grid data .my question how to fix the size of these textbox? because of this textbox what i am using in my grid, my gridview became so large.and even its not looking good.
.I am new to asp.net.Is there any way we can limi the width of the gridview in the design mode.
I have to put 15-20 columns on the gridview. When I add columns to gridview the width shoots out of the page and the page design is seems ruined.
i placed it inside the panel and added scrol bars to it. it looks ok when debuggin i.e looks ok in internet explorer but in design mode it ruins the page design.
Is there any way to set the width of a GridView to a pre-determined width?
I have set the width of the gridview and all the columns to a % and then to a number of pixels but it does work. The gridview always sets itself to a width required to display all fields and it goes beyond the resolution of the screen. I would like to contain it to 1024 pixels.
i have a page alignment issue on my page below, the application i have developed by ASP.NETthe problem is i have a text box in this text box i have set the textmode in passwordmy problem is below,
ex:name =............ // normal textbox (width 168px)without using textmodepwd =........ // textmode =password (width 168px)
the moment is it was working fine on firefox and chrome perfectlybut IE am getting the above alignment issueactually i was set the both text box width is 168pxif i removed the text mode in password text box then it was working fine for both browserbut when i set text box mode am getting the above issue.
i'm creating a webpage that contains a text box, whenever i type something in the textbox, i used to show some suggestions like google suggest.
I'm using a div tag to show suggestions and each suggestions is a div tag, so on clicking any of the suggestion, it will be loaded into the textbox, but i can't able to edit the suggestions easily, whenever i want to modify the selected suggestion in textbox, clicking the mouse pointer at some place of the suggestion and pressing backspace removes a single character from the suggestion and return to the end of the suggestion.
what is my ip
when i want to remove "my" in it, it will remove "y" from "my" and return the cursor to end of suggestion (i.e.,) after ip,
whenever there is a keyup event occurs on the textbox, then i use show suggestions that is similar to the entered character.
The labels under Header2 show data from database. I need to be able to edit this data. So when i click on Edit button the labels under Header2 should be replaced with asp:textbox so i can type new data in them and save changes with "save" button.
how to approach this problem and resolve it? I was thinking of using UpdatePanel to avoid the visible page refresh.
Is there a way I can limit the width of a textbox to be equal to the MaxLength property? In my case right now, the textbox control is placed in a table cell as in this snippet:
<td class=TDSmallerBold style="width:90%"> <asp:textbox id="txtTitle" runat="server" CausesValidation="true" Text="Type a title here..be concise but descriptive. Include price." ToolTip="Describe the item with a short pithy title (most important keywords first). Include the price. The title you provide here will be the primary text found by search engines that index Zipeee content." MaxLength="60" Width="100%"> </asp:textbox>
(I know I should not use HTML tables to control layout..another subject for sure) but is there a way to constrain the actual width to the max number of characters allowed in the typed box?
I used standard drag and drop to put in a ASP ListView with editing enabled. The table is two columns, a GUID primary key, and a text string name. Null is not allowed for either.
When I edit a record (for the name column), I change its value (to a valid value) and press enter, it crashes with a Cannot insert NULL into column named "Name". However, if I do exactly the same, but instead of pressing enter I click update, it works fine.
I have a dataview running a stored procedure that's populating a textbox. I then want to edit (or not) that text and insert it using another query. However, whenever I populate the text box, it will always insert the original text. If i don't populate it, it will insert whatever text I input.
I am tryingto update my data on a gridview.... i have two ddl's and two textbox...when i click on the one ddl it post the value of the selectedvalue into the textbox and this happens the same for the other one..... I am using the rowupdating event handler... and here is what i have so far...
I am facing one issue with MaskEditExtender (Ajax Control) control. If anyone knows solution please let me know.
I am having one TextBox aassociated with mask edit extender control. While editing the textbox values, value getting replaced instead of added.
Ex: Supose in my textbox if i have value as 1234, then i want to make it as 12534 so i entered 5 after 2. But am not getting result as expected, its showing as 1254 (means 3 is getting replaced with 5).
can anyone tell me how to add the textbox control at the position that I want with same width and height as the div.
I don't know why the textboxs will be more big after browse the website.
take a look at the HTML text. I have added the styles in the same page.
[code]....
past the code to your VS.net. In the design mood every thing is in the position that I want. However, after browse the website by IE the textboxs will be more big than it should be. is this mean that I should make the div more big than the textboxs!
I have a textbox within a formview that is binded to some data. The only problem is that the size keeps changing if the page is zoomed or screen size is changed.
Is there any way to set the the textbox to utilise the enitre width of a page regardless of zoom or screen size as currently on 75% zoom it remains about half way however on 100% zoom it fills the entire screen.
How can I get the width of a textbox in pixels from server side, if the width in html is set as 95%? MyTextBox.Width.Value gives me 95, i.e. percentage.
It's basically how to create an editable gridview.
I've got it up and working, but I need to change the width/height of the textboxes when the gridview is in edit mode.
The problem is, when the textboxes are rendered, they don't have ID's so I can't use FindControl to modify the textboxes.
Adding textboxes in the template items just created an independant - textbox that doesn't do anything.
My question is, how can I find these textboxes & change their height/widths, or how can I find these textboxes & assign ID's to them...so I can modify their height/widths?
Here's a snippet of what I've been playing with....haven't had any luck though...I'm probably way off:
I have a nested gridview dynamically added. It seems I resolved all issues with the loading this control on a parent page along with other controls and I can trigger the edit of the first level - the master part of the gridview. However, I cannot trigger the edit on a child gridview.
OnRowEditing="grdChildGridEdit_RowEditing"
The master and the child gridviews have objectdatasources in a markup but I have to do the additional data binding after the loading the control on the parent page (see the code below). I'm doing that additional data binding only for the master gridview that is working fine and shows the data for the master and the child gridviews. When I click the Edit button on the master gridview it shows text boxes for the editing but when I click the Edit button on the child gridview it's doing nothing and moreover the editing mode for the master gridview is going back to the initial stage (labels).
I was trying to trigger it throughuse the registering the event:
I have a two text boxes named region id and region name..and a button control
I enter some values into those text boxes and click the button to insert those values into the "gridview"and a "data table" associated with the gridview.
The gridview has the "enable editing" set to true..but when i click the "edit" button of a particular row in a gridview i get no response...i.e i do not get editable textboxes as it happens normally...
I have a dropdown list in a gridview field. The DataValueField for the ddl is an 8 digit item code. The text to display through will be quite longer, 40-60 characters because it will combine the item code and item name into a single string. I don't want the dropdownlist field to be that wide though, only what is displayed when the ddl is selected. In Access you can set the width property of the list to display wider than the field itself. Is there that capability in ASP.NET and if so where do I find it?
