Components That Can Be Work With Javascript

I have a one admin to many clients scenario. The admin asks questions and the clients are expected to respond with a Yes/No. The communication happens real-time and time to live for one question is say about 2 minutes. So, after 2 minutes, the admin refreshes the question and new question is put up. I am working with ASP.NET. Before getting started on code, I was wondering if there are any components available that can be used to work with something like this?

This program in asp.net 2.0 is a Spanish/English Dictionary.
It consists of two textboxes,one button and a datalist. The datalist is bound to an acces database consisting of two columns; One Spanish and one English. When a user enters a Spanish word in textbox1 and clicks the button, the meaning of the word appears in textbox2. Now sometimes a user enters a word that is not in the database. I want, in this case, to have a javascript messagebox to popup saying “Either the word is not listed or misspelled”.
I tried several javascripts to popup in code behind but that did not work. I know that a clientside should be included but I am not able to do that.
The sub below is the one I am using to fetch the words and it is working perfect as long as I enter a word that is already in access database. The words in the rows in database are separated by hyphens so I am using a “Split” fuction which is also working perfectly.

I am converting a html pages into aspx. There are images flashing along the top of the webpage using javascript control. But it does not work after i put into the master page.
In the VB Developer Express, there are also green underline for class name (i.e. class="back")

I understand that a treeview cannot expand/collapse without javascript. But is it possible to open the treeview in expanded form when javascript is disabled? Even if I cannot expand/collapse the nodes, at least I can click on the nodes that will display the data related to that node.
Similar to the treeview used in online auction sites, our treeview looks something like this: [URL], where clicking on a link will redirect me, and clicking on the "+" will expand or collapse the node. The only difference would be that ours is databound.
Another developer is working on this and he tells me that this is not possible without javascript. This webform in particular works almost entirely without javascript, and I'd like the treeview to also work partially.

I am tasked with re-architecture an existing ASP.Net 2.0 Web Site. The current solution has 3 projects; Web UI, Business layer project and Data layer project. The Data layer uses some sort of SQL helper class and stored procedures to return DataTable. The Business layer sort of passes the DataTable along, I don't see much business logic. The UI web site is heavy on DataGrids. While brainstorming, my thoughts are; I want to obviously keep the layered design and use the separation of code by using 3 projects in the solution.
The part that I am most confused about is the Data Layer. What should I use for this part, Entity Framework, or create my own Classes that represent my database or logical objects? Speed of development is also an issue, it has to be down fairly quickly and be flexible or decoupled for enhancements. I tried going the MVC route but the learning curve is too steep for the developers at this time. So, it has to be Web Forms. I am leaning on using Enterprise Library for Data access, logging, caching and Exception handling.

I'm trying to create reusable "zones" but am having trouble figuring out how to give them all unique ids.What I'd like is to be able to create a component which can be put on an mvc page using the usercontrol syntax or using RenderAction or RenderPartial. I want to be able to update these components' content using ajax, so I need someway to reference them by id. However, there is no mechanism in MVC that wraps anything in a div or something like that.
I've learned that if I extend ViewUserControl and put the controls on the page like so:

This way, I can pass the previous ID and put it in ViewData, in case I need it laterThen, I can even go through all my controls on page load event in the master page and get my unique ID and write somekind of register javascript function to the page so that I can do javascript stuff if I want when the page loads.

Is there a more elegant way to do this? I see similar stuff from 'Areas' but never seen an example where someone has put more than one area on a page and then needed to reference them via javascript. This also seems similar to custom templates, but I'm having trouble figuring out how that would work.

I am having problems with 2 popupcontrol extenders. They are used in conjuction with a webservice to display the detail information from a database. Each extender gets information a from 2 different tables. The extenders both work fine except when they have run across a row that has the same primary key number. Here is what the code is (I removed most of the info) to hopefully make it faster to view:

I have a fileupload in my ASP.net as well as other fields, of which some are mandatory.
If I populate the fileupload with a file and press save, because some of the mandatory fields are missing I stop the save and show an error message. However when the screen refreshes ansd shows the error message I loose the file in fileupload. Is there a way of retaining this?
I can't use JavaScript, restriction placed on by who I work for.

I'm inserting panels within a table, each panel has an increment and decrement input button that uses javascript to update a textbox value within the panel.
The buttons stopped working when I adjusted the table to have multiple columns.

I wrote a simple asp.net page with few controls and a function in Javascript that make input validation.
The javascript function is called on button click event. I use Windows Mobile 6 Classic emulator, and the javascript doesn't work at all.
I saw few posts on this forum saying that IE mobile works just with jscript and doesn't work with javascript.
Is it correct ?
Is that mean I have to change my javascript code to jscript code ? I always thought they are the same.
Is there newer versions of ie mobile that works with javascript ?

I am try to get the title bar to flash, using very basic HTML. I've given it a shot, but the code below doesn't seem to work, and I have no idea why. Also, is there a way to make the title bar flash text, but only if the user is not viewing the current browser page?

I searched all day a solution to my problem.I worked with MVC 2 with visual studio 2010.I want to bind dropdownlists according to the value selected in an other dropdownlidt (but the datas are not linked in the database).In fact, I have a function in a controller and I tried to call it thanks javascript. I am trying to add validation on my form. I am using AJAX controls in my form fields.
When I remove the Update panel and AJAX control, my validation starts working, but when keeping both the things together, my validation is not working. How could I make them work together?

I have gone through many articles which uses different workaround to create .net based ActiveX control. But I did not find any standard way of creating ActiveX controls in C#. Can someone share me how to create and test ActiveX control in c#. Note that I have created ActiveX components in VB6 and now looking for a way to create ActiveX control in c# which might be similar to VB6.
