Create A Report For The Entire Site?

We have a website intended for students to enter their project information. The website will have 6 modules and each module will have about 7-8 webpages to enter data.
Now the client want to get a report of the project. Now we have about 6 modules and hence the total pages will come around 40. We developed a crystal report for showing this . It had around 60-70 subreports since we have around 40 pages!!!!and it was a painful way to create the report. Also the report took a lot of time to load....
We did it like this.... For each page a subreport... and we fill a dataset in the aspx page and assign it.... phew it was a bit of crazy stuff!!! at the end there were too datasets and the page went to database several times!!

Can the entire content area of a site be an update panel? I like the idea of the header and navigation not blinking when the content page changes.
Can this be done by putting an update panel as the first element of the content pages or having a update panel wrap the content placeholder in the master page?

I have a site with about 4 pages or so. I was asked to implement a very simple security (check if user in database, if not kick out) using active directory and validating against a table of users. I was simply thinking of createing a master page and making all pages inherit that master page. I would then authenticate the users from the master page.

we can create hidden field and post the entire page to another server to transfer data.
Is there anyway to perform similar task, without using a webpage?
For example:
I want to write a function, to self trigger after a specific time.
The self triggered function will form a hidden field message, and send to another server to query some information.
This function will not able to perform a brownser redirection.

normal way i can create crystal report in asp.net. but its making me problem when i create for asp.net. if a going to see the particular report with particular conditions. in the same way if the another user want to see the same report in other conditions then its making problem. the two reports display the same. conditions as follows:
user 1: want to c report Zone wise sales status
Zone : ABC
User 2: want to c report Zone wise sales status
Zone : CDB
in the web its not working properly, last conditions will be integrated with the two users

After I create asp.NET Dynamic Data Site. now, when I click on run button in Visual Studio, mvc app. opened in browser as [URL]. and asp.NET Dynamic Data Site as [URL]. but i want to merge this app. in one. can I use asp.NET Dynamic Data Site and asp.NET MVC-2 at the same time?

I'm writing an asp.net site in vs2005 asp.net c#, I'm using google charts api and found a lot of disadvantages. Which tools do you use and recommend? I need charts, pies, bars and data presentation, even payed systems can be considered(<200$ per server). I used in the past the buid in reports viewer which has a lot of bugs.

i was trying to create rdlc report on the fly based on the fields selected.
after some research i found using rdlc/matrix i could create the reports on the fly. i found it from this link.

I'm trying to create a Crystal Report to use within a web application. I have the report created and have added a 'CrystalReportViewer' control to an aspx page. All the tutorials I've found indicate the next step is "Click on the [...] next to the "Data Binding" Property and bring up the data binding pop-up window". I'm not seeing a "Data Binding" propert for the 'CrystalReportViewer' control. The only property. I see even related to data binding is "AutoDataBind".

One of my relatives is going to start a small salon. I would like to develop a small web-site (that is pretty basic: display information, book an appointment, display product/service information, show directions to the salon, etc). I can use a XML file as a basic data storage and am not intended to use any database for this. I can deal with the coding development of the web site, but I have not developed any web-site independently and have no detailed knowledge about how to host the site, etc. factors. One of my collegue mention we use the wrong templet, we should use Web application for company application.Should i continue using web site or change to web application? We are creating application for company sales, inventory, hr ,etc where possible more than 1000++ user. And during month end, it will be high traffic and transaction. can Web Site Template with BLL and DAL handle it? or i just need a powerful server?

I am attempting to create a report using the ReportViewer control in my asp.net web application. I want to use an XML data source for the report. Unfortunately, the XML we want to use as a source is nested to about 6 layers deep in certain spots and we are having a very difficult time trying to determine how to access the data in report. recommend a good tutorial about using hierarchical XML data in a ReportViewer control? All the examples we have seen use XML that is essentially only one level deep.
We have gotten as far as creating different DataSet Tables out of the different elements, and those tables are created with "_id" fields that refer the element to its immediate parent but, we can't figure out how to tie the information together in the report so you could have a report that shows a parent object, then underneath it, a list of its child objects, then the next parent, etc.

I have an report that is in pdf file. Everytime the user click the button, it will go to SQL database and pull up the data, and then create the pdf file based on that data.
I wanted to save the pdf file the first time user click on the link. So that when he / she come back and open the report, instead of going to the data base and pull the data. It will just pull the pdf file from the file system. Here are the code that I have :

I'm use to programming in vb.net and doing MsReports.I will add a DataSet with a datatable and then I will add a report.I will populate the report screen with the columns from my dataset which will be available in my toolbar on the left-hand side of my screen. It is a basic drag and drop action.I followed my usual steps in asp.net, but when I try to draw the report, I can't find my dataset.
Why is this?The dataset is named: "dsReport.xsd".The toolmenu where I should see this dataset is labeled: "Website Data Sources"
