Debugging - Web App - Writing Data To Access Or Error Logs?
Apr 9, 2010
I'm looking for a quick way to log some data - I seem to remember a way to write to the access log, similar to System.Out.Println() but I can't seem to remember how to do it.I can't attach a debugger, nor can I add additional information to the web app via Response.Write().Is there a simple way - a single statement with no configuration changes would be ideal - to write to either the error or access logs?
i have a folder in soultion explore that in folder there are some xml file but when write data in c# in xml file, error Access to the path 'E:YavariTCMS-v3TCMSTCMSMDFXMLXMLFile1.xml' is denied. every i remove propertice readeonly from xml or folder that contain xml file ,next tim reade onl true
so if a method in the BLL returns say, a list of keyvaluepairs but the DAL has an error, the BLL logs the error but then it needs to tell the UI that there was an error. in this case, how should it be done? What is the best practice?should we have an out parameter for the BLL method so it returns an enum of success/dataretrievalfailure etc.or something else?
I logs error from Global.Application_Error method.File.AppendAllText method is used to write message to file with thread safe way using Monitor. However, I keep having the following error "The process cannot access the file 'D:ProjectsFPSPPSLog201011.txt' because it is being used by another process."The file was just created by ASP.NET. When next request writes message to the same file, it cause the issue.f I test after while like 5 min, it doesn' t have problem. But, if I test again after 1 second, the file is locked.
This works fine - I have now added to the page a LoginStatus as when they arrive they are loggen in. The problem is when the user clicks the Logg off link I get the error on the page below -
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Source Error:

Is this because the page load is trying to get the logged on user ID
but they have just logged out?
How can I allow the User to logg out without getting the error?
I am REALLY stuck with this and need a solution in the next 24 hours .i I have uploaded my asp.net web application to the web and have the database and connection strings functioning and reading the data from the database. But when I try to write to the DB
I get the following error :
Server Error in '/' Application.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.

The wierd thing about this is the connection strings work from the local machine when I run from Visual Studio and I can write to the DB there, I just cannot write to the DB from the URL.
I am pretty new to asp.net but I am sure it has to be something to do with the web.config.
I am writing a web application which needs to create data in an access database and then runs a report which reports on this data. How do you write to an access database?
I am creating an insert statement in my c# code to insert records to an access database table. I am getting the error copied below using c# code. When I copy the generated insert statement from the console and run this on my access database, it succesfully appends a record in the table.Insert statement generated:
I am trying to update an old VS 2003 Web project. I've worked on it plenty of times in the past on this machine with no issues, but for some reason now when I try to debug it I get the above error (Unable to start debugging the web server. Access is denied.) ANybody have any thoughts on what might cause this?
when i run my application it is the error i get...This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. I declared global variable in js file which is filled after jquery.ajax call. Everything works fine when I put breakpoint to see if the global variable has its value with Firebug, I can see it, no problem. But when I remove breakpoint and try again, error with variable 'undefined' shows.I also tried to put result into hidden field and then retreive its value later. Same error.
I don't know what is happening? With breakpoint set in Firebug it works fine, without it, shows 'undefined' error.
I am using AjaxControltoolKit.dll(3.0) with VS2008 C# application.Any webform having AjaxControltoolKit tools like ModalPopUp,AutoCompelte, etc.Gives Following error on Debugging:""
I tried to run my WebApp on my local machine today (nothing has changed on it) and I had the above error. I know my machine had a windows update recently (not sure if that has anything to do with it).
The error produces a big print out of css styles and html markup.
In the markup it also says "The requested page cannot be accecssed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid".
I keep getting this error when trying to Run or Build my ASP Project. A few details:
I migrated this project from VS 2003 to VS 2008 (C#) It works fine when I successfully compiled it and deployed onto server.I have Plenty of free diskspace available.I have 4 GB Ram and Windows XP So each time I try to build this project, I get the following error.
Error 57 Unexpected error writing metadata to file 'C:InetpubwwwrootProject.IntranetobjTestProject.Intranet.dll' -- 'Not enough storage is available to complete this operation. 'Project.Intranet
Is there anything missing in IIS 6.0 that prevents me from (Insert into table) using MS-Access?
Explain: The application works fine under Visual Studio 2008 IDE the insert into table works fine with no error, Also I tested with hosting provider and works fine with no problem. but now I have published the same exact app in a dedicated server windows 2003 with IIS 6.0 .NET framework 2.0 with latest service pack I gave IIS_WPG write/modify access to the folder where MS-Access database is located and database but at the time of insert an error pop-up. I need to install in the Server or settings in the IIS to recognize my MS-Access db is it some office runtime that I am missing. (BTW I am using OLEDB connection string in my C# )
Using System.Data.OleDb;
I can retrieve data off of it with no problem but when I try to insert is when it fails I thought the problem was Access Rights but I do not think is the case.
I get this error when I hit F5 in VS 2008. I have checked that Windows authentication is enabled on the site and it is. I can mannully attach the debugger to the IIS process and it works. What could be wrong? I have tried alot of things without success.
I'm trying to debug my web application on my localhost machine in Visual Studio 2010 and I keep getting this error: "unable to start debugging on web server. The Microsoft Visual Studio remote debugging monitor(MSVSMON.exe) does not appear to be running on the remote computer."
Is there a way I can turn this off as I'm not trying to make any attempts debugging remotely.
I get error message "Unable to start debugging on the web server" in Visual Studio 2010. I clicked the button and followed the related suggestions without success.
This happens with a newly created local ASP.Net project when modified to use IIS instead of Cassini (which works for debugging). It prompts to set debug="true" in the web.config and then immediately pops up the error. Nothing shows up in the Event Viewer.
I am able to attach to w3wp to debug. It works but is not as convenient as F5.
I also have a similar problem with VS2008 on the same PC. Debugging used to work for both.
I have re-registered Framework 4 (aspnet_regiis -i). I ran the VS2010 repair (this is the RTM version). I am running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 box.
If I call my web service directly it works, however, when I try to call it from another controller on the same project I get a 401 exception. Below is the code I use to call the WS, and it is being run in VS not IIS.
I am trying to run my application on IIS 7 and Windows Vista Home Premium. I am getting the following error "Debugging failed because Integrated Windows Authentication is not enabled". How do i resolve this issue?
I've got two sites hosted on a win2008R2 box that I just moved to .net 4 from 3.5. One worked well, but the other is showing a 500-internal server error on the server. It builds fine in VS, and runs fine in Cassini.I've changed the app pool to .net 4 and copied the new web config into the site, but I still get an error. I did this about a month ago with another site and everything worked fine.I can't use my own error logging code because my app doesn't even get started, and IIS doesn't seem to leave anything in the application event log. Apologies in advance for a dumb question, but where can I get some more detail on this error?500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
