i have created asp.net web application which use Crystal report 2008. Now i want to publish this project. i have installed full version of Crystal report 2008 on server. And all works good. But my bosh does not want Full Crystal Report 2008 to be installed on server. now my question: what i can do?

CRRedist2008_ia64.msi installs the crystal reports runtime dlls in the GAC.
However, I would like to install these dll in the bin directory of my .NET project and deploy. I copied all the Crystal Reports dlls which gets installed by CRRedist2008_ia64.msi in the GAC ino the in directory of the project and referenced these dlls in my project. However, I still get the following error message.
Is there a way to not install the runtime but copy the dlls manually?

View 1 RepliesI have a strange problem with a ASP.net web application. This was developed using Visual Studio 2008 in C# .The web application has been developed, tested and hosted on 32 bit OS without any problem.I have since installed the same Web App on Windows 2008 r2 64bit.
I had to install the Crystal Reports Distribution 64.I now connect to that server via a link and I login.Once logged I have a Main Menu. From there I can select other web pages of which several (not all) have a Crystal Report Viewer on it.I cant be 100% sure but it seems that on the web pages I have a Crystal Report Viewer I get strange behaviour problems from Link Buttons and Buttons. Every time I click on one of these buttons that has a Crystal Report Viewer I get redirected to the Login page.The other pages also have Link Buttons and Buttons but behave as they should.
I need to have a section in my website dedicated to viewing and printing reports.I've created a Reports Table (ReportID, ReportTitle, ReportDescription, ReportCategoryID), so I can display a list of Reports on a page.I also have a ReportCategory Table (ReportCategoryID, CategaoryName, Active).So i could have all the categories in a dropdown perhaps(not sure it's the best option)
Then once a selection is made I can display the reports under that category.Clicking on any of them will then display the report or save it to disk.My question is, should I create a Reports Class? if so, can I get a few pointers

I am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition. I googled for the same, it says u might not have selected crystal reports feature while installation of vs. I am sure that i had selected installtion type = Full/Complete.
So has it anything to do with vs service pack etc. I dont have VS 2008 SP1, but VS 2008. Or wud be better if we can add crystal report component explicitly. (kinda standalone installer for crystal reports and then it will automatically merge with VS.)

I have created 2 projects in a solution. One project contains Asp.net classes with login page and different other pages.
Another project contains a web service.
When I launch the solution(click F6 in visual studio 2008) the login page can access to the method of the webservice. Both projects are launched.
However when i added this 2 projects into IIS and deploy them (with create command) the login page cannot contact the method of the web service. Even though the web service is running because i can acces it manually. But they cannot communicate each other.

I can't run a MSI to deploy the CR runfiles.I can't find anywhere in the CR user manual of how to deploy the runtime files without running the msi, and I'm not even sure it's possible.Have anyone deployed CR 2008 without running the MSI and without having to register any files?
View 8 Repliesa myth has been passed to me by a senior who told me to 'always' design a crystal report using Add command and not through the table view (like selecting tables and linking them manually).I have been having a hard time writing the queries for master detail reports and making sub report links manually. It gets pretty confusing sometimes.I find it easy to design reports by just selecting two tables and dragging and dropping the link in crystal report designer.

But if the Milestones Datatable is empty, the crystal report shows none of the data related to the Projects Datatable, as if the table is empty.
