In Page_Load, Request["__EVENTTARGET"] is an empty string.

IS there some way I can find out which button triggered the postback before hitting the buttons event handler?

I have a problem with the ASP FileUpload control. It occurs in Safari and on websites where anonymous authentication is disabled and windows authentication is enabled.

When I select a file in the upload-control and then press an ASP-button the serverside event for the button is not triggered and PostBack is false.

Steps to reproduce the error:

1. Create a page with a file upload and a button. Print a message in the page's load event so you can see that if postback is true or false

2. Open IIS-manager and Add a new application that points to the folder where the page is

3. Disable Anonymous Authentication, ASP.NET Impersonation and Forms Authentication for the application

7. Enable Windows Authentication for the application

8. Browse to the page with Safari

9. Select a file with the upload control

10. Press Ok. Postback is false

If you then enable anonymous authentication on the web application and restart the browser postback works as expected.

Postback Not Being Triggered On Button Click When Using Validators

Server Click event is not being triggered when I click on the "LookupButton". The weird part is that this code works on our Dev server, but not QA. If I get rid of "LookupValidationGroup", from the Lookup Button ValidationGroup property, the page does postback, but then my validators do not work. I could explicitly do the validation on the Server Side, but dont think I should need to.

No errors are being displayed. I also reinstalled .net 3.5 using aspnet_regiis -i command.

Single Event Handler For Multiple Links/buttons?

I have a dropdown list that contains a collection of names. My entire names list is very large (over 2,000) so I would like to pair down the names in the drop down list to those starting with the same letter.To do this I would like to have 26 links all on the same line, one for each letter in the alphabet ..

A|B|C|D|E|F|G|H|I|J|K|L|M|N|O|P|Q|R|S|T|U|V|W|X|Y|Z

The idea being that the user clicks on the letter they are interested in and the stored procedure that obtains the list of names is re-executed to only grab those names starting with the letter that was clicked and then the resulting dataset is rebound to the dropdown list.

What is vexing me is how to handle creating all the "Click Events" necessary to deal with the user "clicking" on a link. I could create 26 different event handlers, one for each link, but I have to believe there is a simpler way I am not seeing.Form demonstration here is the click event for one link, the letter "A" ...

Creating a list of users with a "Delete" linkbutton next to each". Seems I got it all wrong (again..away from webforms a long time).

Here's what I do:

Building a list of users with delete buttons:

I got a hunch though it's because of the when/where I'm loading that list of users. I call the function (getting a list of all users, clearing the table and populate it again):

In the page load, if not a postback.
Every time the "Add user" function have been called (that works fine).
Every time the "Delete user" function are called.

The last will not delete the user (still in database) but reload the ^&* form without any users.

I just found that the delete handler does not get called at all, but the button post back the form, so my list of user's don't get loaded.

C# - Button Onclick Event (in Codebehind) Doesn't Get Triggered In MVC 2

I had an MVC 1.0 web application that was in VS 2008; I just upgraded the project to VS 2010 which automatically upgraded MVC to 2.0. I have a bunch of viewpages have codebehind files that were manually added. The project worked fine before the upgrade, but now the onclick even't don't get triggered. I.e. I have an asp:button with an onclick event that points to a method in the codebehind. When you click the button, the onclick event doesn't get triggered. In fact, when you look at the Page variable, IsPostBack is false.

This is really bizarre and I'm wondering if anyone know what happened and how to fix it. I'm thinking it has something to do with the changes in MVC 2.0; but I'm not sure. (deleting the codebehinds and moving that to the controller is not really an option since there is so many pages, moving back to vs 2008 is a last resort as I want to make use of some of the VS 2010 features like performance testing.)

How To Prevent PostBack Event Handler From Firing

I have a custom class (ServerSideValidator.vb) that validates user input on server side (it doesn't use any of the .NET built in validators, therefore Page.Validate() is not an option for me). I am calling the Validate() method on page.IsPostback event and the class performs without any problem

My issue is, when validation fails (returns false), I want to stop the postback event handler from firing, but load the page along with all the controls and user-input values in them. If I do, Response.End(), the page comes up blank. I can programmatically instruct the page to go to the previous page (original form before postback), but it loses all user-inputs.

I thought of creating a global boolean variable in the page code behind file and check the value before performing any postback method, but this approach takes away from my plan to provide all functionalities inside the class itself. The page object is being referenced to ServerSideValidator.

Seems like all the postback related properties/variables I come across inside Page class are 'Readonly' and I can't assign value(s) to control/prevent postback event from firing.

Dynamic Event Handler Lost After Postback?

I have a asp.net page with a button, the event the button needs to perform on it's click event needs to vary, dependant on what options are selected further up the page. The button itself is included in the master page, and it's actions are affected by selections made in the child page.

To do this, I have a method in the master page, that is called by the child page, when a users presses a button, that passes the Eventhandler to be used by that button, that is then assigned to masterpage eventhandler for that button:

Then, when the save button on the master page, it calls that eventhandler

The event handler is assigned ok in the first section of code, however because pressing the save button causes a postback, the SaveButtonEvent event handler is set back to being null, and so nothing happens.

How can I preserve the contents of SaveButtonEvent Event Handler during postback, or is there a better way to be doing this?

EDIT:

I can get this to work by saving the EventHandler to the session, but this doesn't seem like a great idea.

JavaScript - Control Event Handler Not Firing On Postback?

I have a control which has an ImageButton which is tied to an OnClick event... Upon clicking this control, a postback is performed and the event handler is not called. AutoEventWireup is set to true, and I've double checked spelling etc.... We haven't touched this control in over a year and it has been working fine until a couple of weeks ago.

We have made changes to controls which load this control... so I'm wondering, what kind of changes could we have made to stop this event handler from being called? There is quite a bit of Javascript going on, so this could be the culprit too...

I've created a UserControl that is dynamically placed onto my page during the Init event. It populates and works great, but I'm left scratching my head at how to retrieve data from it during a postback.

It's effectively a multipick combobox that is manipulated entirely using clientside JavaScript (I'm using jQuery heavily). Inside the control container element, I render an empty DIV element that contains all of the selected items. As the user selects items, I generate DIVs within that container DIV that includes some markup. Of interest to me on the server side are the contents of a couple of INPUT fields.

After selecting an item, the rendered HTML looks something like:

I may be completely off track and this may actually be impossible (or a stupid idea). The only alternative I can think of is to emit actual ASP.NET controls and hook the built-in event handlers.

Jquery Event Handler Inside Updatepanel Not Working After Postback?

I have a div with "id=ShowDetails". In my javascript I have this:

The div is inside the update panel that gets posted back. When the page loads, if I click the div, I get the bingo but after the postback, I don't.

After that, the Validate method of all validator controls is called, which sets the IsValid property of individual validator controls and of the page. And the picture in the article also says validate fires after event handling. If this is true how can I get status of validator when I handling the event?

I have problem with user control: MyCollection : UserControl

MyCollection contains:

Works fine unless I register event for some button:

button1.Click += ...

When click on button, nothing happens - page does postback, refresh but event handler method is not executed. Generated HTML is bit strange. Every page control has correctly generated ClientID including parent container ID.

Button in this collection MyCollection has odd ClientID - itemsAddresses$button1

I have created a form with several textboxes and a dropdown list and assigned a required field validator to each of them. I also have a master page with several links to other pages, some made using <a href=..> and some linkbuttons. The problem I am having is that when I click the linkbutton links they do not redirect to the proper page, rather they trigger the validators for all textbox fields and display the validator characters next to each textbox (and the dropdown). When I fill out the form, those links redirect properly. The links created using <a href=..> do not cause this problem.

I am using the TabContainer control on my page.. i have 3 tabpanels within it that are used for 3 different types of searches..After meeting with the client yesterday it was brought to our attention that once you complete the fields you want to search on and hit enter nothing happens..Is there a way to enable the enter key for the buttons? And if there is, can it be setup so it triggers the correct button? I say this because on the page, even though there are 3 tabs each with their own submit button.
