We currently have a problem whereby on our stage servers, links that exist on certain pages have a full url instead of a relative path, for example they may be on http://stage.host.com/app/webpage1.aspx, and a link may exist to http://www.host.com/app/webpage2.aspx instead of http://stage.host.com/app/webpage2.aspxTo try and solve this problem we added a response filter to strip out the host name for anchor tags, so that they become relative. Although this works well for most situations, there are still some issues where users redirect to full links with server side code e.g. Response.Redirect.I wanted to get your guys ideas about the best way to tackle this problem,
I am developing 2 Applications. One WebForms and the other is MVC. How can i secure the code such that when i deploy them to the clients production environment, they cannot be simply picked up, copied and repackaged by someone else?. I simply need a way to protect my intellectual property. Can this be done in Visual Studio 2010?
I am dynamically generating script code to return transaction data to Google Analytics using their ecommerce script. The code that generates the script is fully tested and functional on my development machine and when I view the page code the script, along with any values that were passed to it, can be seen above the </form> tag. Happy days, or so I thought. For some reason the code is not being generated when I test it in a live, hosted environment. I cant figure out why this is the case as the code is quite simple. I simply generate the script code and register it on the client side (see code below)
//Capture the transaction data for analytics ecommerce tracking //Generate the necessary script code string strAnalyticsEcommerceScript = Analytics_Ecommerce_Script_Creator(); //Register the script on the page Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "AnalyticsScript", strAnalyticsEcommerceScript);
The page in question is called "Order-Successfull" and is where customers are sent to when they have succesfully payed for an order. On this page:
-The order is added to the orders database table - The customer is emailed an order confirmation email - The google analytics script is generated and registered
The Sequence is as follows:
[Code]....
Whats really interesting is that if I move the Analytics script creator code before the code that sends the emails, the script is generated and can be seen when I view the page code. If I do this, however, the emails do not get sent. If I lay the code out as per the code I have inserted in this post, the emails get sent but the script code is not placed on the page.. The code to that actually sends the emails is quite standard:
I have created a C++ dll. It works fine and does the job. I have created methods in asp.net that call the methods in C++ dll. DLL path is absolute. It works fine too. I then published the website onto a folder and hosted the website on IIS. I get an error message Exception Details: System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'FilesCreator.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
I'm getting a lot of these error messages in my logs on one of my servers and intermittently on two others.Googling didn't reveal very much information, mostly related to file uploads or downloads being interrupted. My pages are basically just text files with "ok" in them that only have .aspx extension for future plans, there's no actual code powering the pages. Servers are all Windows Server 2008 RC2 x64 running IIS7 / ASP.NET 4.Statistically it's happening well under 1% of the time but because of the volume of traffic that still clutters my event log with 2 or 3 of these messages per minute.Edit:tracked down the problem, setting buffering to true stopped it occurring.
My kind webhost (1and1) royally asked me to go elsewhere to do something like this.
I have 2 sites. One of them was developed by a .Net programmer. Now I am contracted to implement a PHP site and fetch data from the .Net site.
There is an ASP.Net form that a customer fills and when they hit submit, the data gets stored in SQL Server DB. How do I also store the same data in MySQL parallelly? I cannot directly use some database connectors with ASP.Net since MySQL connectivity is not supported on 1and1 Windows hosting (biz account, no less!).
What I thought of is to publish an RSS feed of entries in ASP.Net site and routinely scrape that data into MySQL on Linux host. It is an overkill, I know. Not efficient.
I have one IIS entry with AppPool integrated mode. There are 5 or more host headers assigned. The application pulls data based on the host name from Request.Url.Host. When I have 2 or more sites open at the same time the value of the Request.Url.Host is the same across all the sites. About every 30 seconds it resets itself to the correct value from the last request and shows that value on the other sites. So ultimately the sites are loading the same data. The value in the HOST server variable is incorrect as well.
details of device by which I can get the input for GPS location independently without a fixed ic chip? I want to write the code myself for that then display on the screen; like many gps street locator or any other device available in market. I need initial level of code for chip and intial level code example for .net.
Apart from this I know the something about this like attach the device in the port . Detect the the port with device and read the data using API or dll whatever and start processing and then display on the output device.
My application is working fine in local environment but not working after push code in live. My locale environment and hosting environment both are having same configuration. Same app working fine 2 month before but in different domain but same hosting server.
how to check the both config / any possible to run debug mode in hosting server please let me know. below code used in all page for checking user session status but when I click on any link page redirect to login.aspx I think session got timeout. I don't know why session got time frequently, but this issue not happening in local environment (desktop).

Trying to add some custom code behind the cancel button built into a details view. How would I go about doing this? This is what i have currently. But, when clicked, the cancel button does not pick this up.
I wanted to post my problem and solution since I've gotten some good information on this board. When deploying my Visual Studio 2008 C# .NET 2.0 web application Production, I encountered some problems, which is not unusual. What was unusual is that my Crystal Reports .NET reports that use the Report Viewer control would not work; they errored out with:
note: Crystal Report works fine in dev environment....
Logon failed. Details: ADO Error Code: 0x Source: ADODB.Connection Description: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed. Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters. We are using Oracle 11g 64 bit as database. We establish crystal report database connection by two ways,
1. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
2. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC
but we got the same error in report module when we using two methods.
I'm currently trying to build a html table from the results of a sql data reader. As my table has multiple records, I want the code to loop through the reader and output the details on individual lines of the page. In ASP I have done this in the past using something like
[Code]....
but as I am using data readers I'm not sure what the equivalent is.
I have on a page a gridview that can be filtered with one text box. I set up the gridview to show select and wanted to then connect a details view so that when you selected a row the entire details would show up. When I run it I get this error. Data keys must be specified on GridView 'GridView1' before the selected data keys can be retrieved. Use the DataKeyNames property to specify data keys.
I have a gridview control with a details column. I want the user to click details and it give me a pop-up showing details of the particular row. Any idea on how to do this using JQuery?? Looking for an example with code..
I have a details view that appears when record is selected in a GridView. Can this details view be opened in it's own modal window that would allow me to use the full event model?

I'm thinking of using a modal pop up control that would have a details view in it. I currently have a details view that uses CSS Friendly control adapters with the CssSelectorClass attribute. Can I use the CSS friendly CssSelectorClass property with a details view in the modal pop up and style it as I'm currently doing with my Details View?
I'm trying to get a record to show up in a details view as part of a Master Details. I was able to get this to work by setting the visibility to true for the Details View in the Page Load event. I now want the details view to show up when the Select button is clicked in the GridView's template field using the onClick event for the button. I don't seem to be assigning the correct properties to get this to work though. what property I should use with this? I know I have to get it from the GridView and assign it to the details but haven't gotten it to work. this is the GridView:
I have a vb.net page that has a editable detailsview. When a user wants to erase the data for a field, they highlight the data, and delete/backspace over it, and click update. However, the original data is still saved. If they are replacing the current data with new data, that works fine and updates/saves correctly. This problem only happens when the current data needs to be removed.
At our company we are going to develop more for the Windows platform than we have done up until now. As this scale of Windows development is new to us it would be nice with some feedback from experienced developers. Requirements we have: 5 developers from the beginning. 15 developers a year from now. All developers should be able to develop at the same time. Be able to develop solution for ASP.NET and EpiServer 5. Our idea:
A shared server which developers use for development through Terminal Services. SQL Server Express. Start with some free express edition of Visual Studio, upgrade to a commercial version if we need the additional features. Use IIS and not the web server built into Visual Studio. Questions:
Are we on the right track?
In terms of license costs the above should be cheapest, right?
What do you think about multiple developers doing development using a shared TS-server?
Do you know of any company which has a similar development environment?
Are we going to miss some features of the full Visual Studio version immediately? Is using Express version a bad choice? Is IIS the best choice? If use IIS the developers may use the same port for deployment. If we use the built in web server each one has to set their own port as we're sharing a machine.
Comment answer: We are thinking about a shared server as it will most likely decrease the license costs. So it's purely a cost issue. We are using CVS for version control. Our situation is that we develop on Mac and Linux, that's why buying 1 server license + Visual Studio licenses seems to be a cost effective way of starting this type of development.
My dev team and I would like to setup a development environment for our ASP.NET projects. BY development environment i do not mean Visual Studio. I mean, that we have a Database Server, a Application Server and a Web Server in a 'Development Environment'. We want to use this as our integration environment. Where the developers all work on there parts of ASP.NET Applications and then we can push our new changes up to test them as a whole. My Question is , what is the best way to deploy our code together without stepping on our toes?
