I am working with gridview in my application. I want to get values of a particular cell in my rowcommand event on the click of a link button in a button field. Following is my code from aspx:

i am using a gridview in my web page,i used to bind the database records to the gridview..my columns are name,empid,company name,pl leave,sl leave,total leave taken here total leave taken is not a database fields,in the page i want to fill the records once loaded pl leave and sl leave is added and display in the total leave taken column..it working properly when all pl ans sl columns fill with numbers,if some pl and sl leave having blank values.it showing an error like input sting was not in correct format..this is my code

I have a GridView with an associated DataKey, which is the item ID. How do I retrieve that value inside the RowCommand event?
This seems to work, but I don't like the cast to LinkButton (what if some other command is firing the event?), and I'm not too confident about the NamingContainer bit.

I'm aware that I could instead pass that ID as the CommandArgument, but I chose to use DataKey to give me more flexibility.
I'm also aware that it's possible to use a hidden field for the ID, but I consider that a hack that I don't want to use.
i am using a grid view . i have added a linkbutton in cell[0]. when clicking on this butoon the below event is working.. actually i tried to get the cell[1].text... but not getting any cell values except cell[0].text... get the cell[1].text value.

I'm trying to retreive values entered by users in the textboxes in the footer of the gridview and insert these values into another sql table.My code is as follows :-

But the strings 'frm' and 'sub' returns null values.
I am able to get the values of GridView cells when the columns are not visible.
For Example:

But if I make the BiundFiled Visible="true" then I get the value in the code behind.
I do not want to show this value to the user and also want to get the value in the code behind. How can I do that?
I have a gridview in a page, and some Texboxes along with a button(for issuing a command) in the same page. The TextBoxs were inputted values and the values could be assigned to the selected row of the gridview, some fields are the same values along the rows, and the values are inputted in the TextBoxes for using several times without change.
Well, I need to know: how can I assign the values of the TextBoxes to the selected row of the gridview. in another words, how can I access the cell members of the gridview when it is in edit mode? (Q1)
If the row is not selected, I have no way to know which row should be assigned values, since there is no such things like "current row".
So, if the selecting button(or link) of the gridview is not selected, the button along with the TextBoxes should keep disabled, until a row's "Edit" button is clicked. (Q2: How can I find if the Edit button is clicked? I guess I can use the property "mode" of the gridview to indicate the situation. )
And the last question is (Q3), how can I ensure the values are updated to the database? Maybe I dont need to do more things than just click the uppdate button of the row of the gridview.
I have a form that contains a asp:Table and it contains 2 rows with 6 columns.
Also on my form is a gridview. It contains one row with 6 columns. (see pic)
I'd like to see if I can format both so that they appear to have the same over-all width and cell width too.

I have followed your Nested level gridview and found it working, but i want add a button in the child element(from your example i will have a btn in Product grid and it should get contact_id (parent datakey value as well) ),as i need to update in database.

I want to save data to a different table. My save is working fine but the challenge is that it saves empty cells as well.I will like to save only QTyDelivered cell with value. Any empty QTyDelivered cell should be ignored (which means the row of QTyDelivered cell that is empty will not be saved) .How can i achieve this?
I have a problem with my Linkbutton which is not firing the RowCommand of my gridview.
Just for an Idea what I am doing is a follows:
1. WebForm
WebForm hosts UserControl_A.
2. UserControl_A = UpdatePanel + Panels + Gridview1 + CollapsiblePanelExtender
Updatepanel of UserControl_A consists of multiple Panels.
Each Panel consists of a Gridview1.
Upon each Panel expand UserControl_B is loaded.
3. UserControl_B = Details View & a couple of Linkbuttons in GridView2
Upon clicking the Linkbutton, unexpectedly it makes a refresh for the entire UserControl_A.
But it does not fire the RowCommand of its parent GridView2.
I am getting error as Procedure 'storedproc2' expects parameter '@NewMessage', which was not supplied.Basically in this I am taking the text in one cell and add sometext to it and update in the next cell of the row.

I have several Gridviews that display data from the same table. They are separate for visual effect (Different characteristics). If I select on an item from any grid they can all execute the same code (Show Details).I'm using a row command GridViewCommandEventArgs.Is it possible/How can you get the gridview name from the row command so that I can use just one subroutine.

When "btnEdit" is clicked, "RowCommand" event is raised where I want to the catch row index of the row which was set to Edit mode.The Reason for doing this is ......I am using paging with page size = 4. When I click the fourth row (suppose), page is postedback and then the user has to scrolldown to get to the edit row
