Is there a way to change the code inserted when you drag and drop a control on a form?For instance, the application I'm working on always has Display=Dynamic and CssClass="errormessage" in a field validator. Is there a way to get VS 2008 to use these defaults, and insert the code for them when I drag and drop a control onto the page?

Custom Server Controls :: Custom Control's Constructor / User To Set Thatvariable In The Properties Window After They Drag The Control Onto A Form?

Mar 4, 2010

I have a custom control which inherit from the Table class and in the constructor, it takes a an integer as an argument. There is no empty constructor.

Is there a way for the user to set that variable in the properties window after they drag the control onto a form.

I know some .NET controls, you can set the source for the parameter to different things like another control's property, QueryString using just the properties window.

Right now, I have to create the control dynamically. I read the query string and then created the object.

To Write Custom Code That Runs On Server Start?

Mar 3, 2011

I need to declare an instance of a custom class and add it to the Application collection as soon as our ASP.NET site starts on the server.

So far, we have it doing it on the first page load of a master page, but that can take a few seconds because this class is a little intensive, so the first user is required to wait a couple seconds while the web server completes its task.So where do I need to go to do this?

yes client side must be java script but my qustion is not that.i am asking that can i use c# language to implement "actions" fired on "click side events" such as mouse over the reason for this question is that i remember some syntax of registering functions for particular events of formview, which are call when the event occurs (yes there ispostback involved" is something like the above possible for client side events using c# or even

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
Label3.Text = "this is label three";
Label3.Attributes.Add("OnMouseOver", "testmouseover()");
protected void testmouseover()
Label4.Text = "this is label 4 mouse is working!!";

How To Use/create A Custom Control In MVC 2 - Finding Tutorials To Write

Sep 28, 2010

I am trying to figure out how to use/create a custom control in ASP.NET MVC 2.

I created a custom control earlier and compiled it (ccontrol.dll), the control renders a div, textbox and a button + some javascript in order to post a comment on the website. It could be a static aspx page that i wanted to allow my visitors to add a comment to. I would then drag my control from the toolbar to the aspx page and run it, it would then render all the code needed on the webpage including fetching the data from a datasource and displaying that inside the div. The user could also just type in a comment and press the button to save it to the datasource.

Is this possible to convert to MVC 2? Any good tutorial that covers custom controls and MVC 2? (Ideally would be if the control could be made into a .dll file that i then could reuse on future webpages)

How do i write a custom control the mvc way? Any good tutorials on the topic?

Web Forms :: WebPart Drag And Drop?

Feb 17, 2011

I cannot get the Drag and Drop functionality of Web Parts is to work. I have a very simple test page with two WebPartZones.. In the OnInit method of the code behind I put the page in design mode. In the first zone I have a textbox.At runtime the text box renders as a web part. When I hover over the web part header my mouse pointer changes the 'move' pointer, but I cannot drag the item. I do not see it dragging and the part never moved. I am using Visual Studio 2010 with IE 8. I have tried IE8 in compatibility mode and regular mode. The results are the same. Here is the markup from my test page:

<form id="form1" runat="server">
<asp:WebPartManager ID="WebPartManager1" runat="server">
<asp:WebPartZone ID="LEFT" runat="server">
<asp:TextBox ID="tb" runat="server" />
<asp:WebPartZone ID="RIGHT" runat="server">
<asp:EditorZone ID="EditorZone1" runat="server">

Here is the code behind:

protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e)
WebPartManager mgr = WebPartManager.GetCurrentWebPartManager(this);
mgr.DisplayMode = WebPartManager.DesignDisplayMode;

What am I missing?
