I have created a Web User Control and convert it into Web Custom Control and add it in Tool Box of Visual Studio. When i drag and drop this web custom control from tool box, i want to execute some sql for that web Control. How do i write a code in Web User Control so that it will execute on drag and drop of Web Custom Control prepared from this Web User Control?

Is there a way for the user to set that variable in the properties window after they drag the control onto a form.
I know some .NET controls, you can set the source for the parameter to different things like another control's property, QueryString using just the properties window.
Right now, I have to create the control dynamically. I read the query string and then created the object.

I have installed and reinstalled AjaxControlToolkit.Binary.NET35, added as reference too and still cannot add the controls to the form. Why is creating web forms so frustratring? I have no problems when I use the Extended Object controls.

I then tried to drag and drop one of the controls to my webform and nothing happened-no error message, no control added to the form. Double clicking the control also did nothing. View 2 RepliesI have a link button in a repeater control. the li element is drag and droppable using jquery. when the page loads the the link button works perfectly, the jquery that is attached and the server side code both execute. when I perform a drag and drop then click on the link button it doesnt not fire. when i click it a second time it does fire. If i perform 2 or drag and drops in a row the link button doesnt fire a as many drag adn drops as i before it will fire. for example if if perform 3 drag and drops then it will take about 3 click before the events are fired.

I would like to add textchange event in javascript where i need to sum the values inside textboxes in datagrid and show that addition in lable outside grid. I would also like to do same addition in codebehind(*.cs) But codebehind only execute when browser not support javascript. It means when browser support javascript only client side javascript should execute not server side code

I am trying to figure out how to use/create a custom control in ASP.NET MVC 2.
I created a custom control earlier and compiled it (ccontrol.dll), the control renders a div, textbox and a button + some javascript in order to post a comment on the website. It could be a static aspx page that i wanted to allow my visitors to add a comment to. I would then drag my control from the toolbar to the aspx page and run it, it would then render all the code needed on the webpage including fetching the data from a datasource and displaying that inside the div. The user could also just type in a comment and press the button to save it to the datasource.
Is this possible to convert to MVC 2? Any good tutorial that covers custom controls and MVC 2? (Ideally would be if the control could be made into a .dll file that i then could reuse on future webpages)
How do i write a custom control the mvc way? Any good tutorials on the topic?

View 1 RepliesI cannot get the Drag and Drop functionality of Web Parts is to work. I have a very simple test page with two WebPartZones.. In the OnInit method of the code behind I put the page in design mode. In the first zone I have a textbox.At runtime the text box renders as a web part. When I hover over the web part header my mouse pointer changes the 'move' pointer, but I cannot drag the item. I do not see it dragging and the part never moved. I am using Visual Studio 2010 with IE 8. I have tried IE8 in compatibility mode and regular mode. The results are the same. Here is the markup from my test page:
