I am doing a online web application whereby user is able to enter in new template as well as search for template. The Add template is located outside the grid view and if user clicks on the button, it will load the grid view that is populated with data as there is a row of empty fields at the bottom. However when I click on the Add Template button, the grid view does not appear.
This is my business logic that I used it to search for records as well to click on the Add Template button to add in new records:

Have a GridView with a templated select button hidden and using
e.Row.Attributes.Add("onclick",Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(this.grdMaster, "Select$" + e.Row.RowIndex.ToString())); to select a row .
When user like to update the datasource he will select one row from gridview then in selected indexchanged event i would display the selected row values beneath the form under the grid , Then user will update the contents displayed from grid and click an update button which is outside the grid . After updating the displayed row , i got to get the values of the next row in the grid and display them for next updation , i'e if users maually selects row 3 from grid then he can update the values using the update button and then on update click itself i'll have to display next row contents of row 4 and this process could go on .

View 1 RepliesI'm getting some Xml back from a service. I would like it to be the datasource of a grid view on my aspx page. Here is a sample of the Xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16" ?>
<ArrayOfTripTollCompleteDC xmlns:xsi=[URL]"
xmlns:xsd=[URL]>
<TripTollCompleteDC>
<TripTollId>5</TripTollId>
<DMSLaneModeID xsi:nil="true" />
<HOVOnly>false</HOVOnly>
<CreateDateTime>2010-06-07T15:54:01.023</CreateDateTime>
<ConfigVTMSDelaySeconds>5</ConfigVTMSDelaySeconds>
</TripTollCompleteDC>
and here is my code that parses the xml and tries to bind the grid. What am I missing here?
var retVal = service.GetTripDetailsByTripID(tripId);
var xmlTrips = XDocument.Parse(retVal);
var tripTolls =
from t in xmlTrips.Elements("TripTollCompleteDC")
select new {
TripTollId = (int)t.Element("TripTollId")
, DMSLaneModeID = (int?)t.Element("DMSLaneModeID")
, HOVOnly = (bool)t.Element("HOVOnly")
, CreateDateTime = (DateTime)t.Element("CreateDateTime")
, ConfigVTMSDelaySeconds = (int)t.Element("ConfigVTMSDelaySeconds")
};
grdTripDetails.DataSource = tripTolls;
grdTripDetails.DataBind();
I realize these are anonymous types. Is that a problem? I have verified the service is returning the Xml as stated above. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction? Just for completeness, here is the grid markup <asp:GridView runat="server" ID="grdTripDetails" />

View 4 RepliesI am writing a program to measure the latency(response round trip time) for a web service. I need to have this at client side.
My initial plan is to store the time at which request is sent and then calculate the difference in time when we recieve a response from the web service. Is this the correct way to measure latency of web service. This has some overhead because of storing time and all. How can this be done?
Another option is to attach a timestamp with the SOAP request. But the server should return the timestamp. This will not be possible in case of third party web services.

I have a grid view with a nested text box in it.I would like to turn view state off but the fact of the matter is when data is posted,the text boxes inside the gridview aren't available (there are no rows in the gridview on postback). Control's information is not stored in the View State (for things like selected value and .text etc.):Control state,introduced in ASP.NET version 2.0, is similar to view state but functionally independent of view state.However,control state cannot be disabled. Control state is designed for storing a control's essential data (such as a pager control's page number) that must be available on postback to enable the control to function even when view state has been disabled. View 2 RepliesI have a page grid.aspx which contains a rad grid, when a row is selected for update the user is redirected to another page where the he can update the row, after submitting the updates I want to redirect the user back to grid.aspx, but the grid displays that there are no records to display? When I navigate to another page and then go back to grid.aspx it works fine.
FYI: the update page doesn't use a data source, the item is retrieved and the form is filled manually. I used response.redirect("grid.aspx").

View 4 Repliesam currently trying to learn about consuming web services within .net and am having trouble with the following example.I have the WSDL file to contact a vehicle look up web service which based on two parameters, pCode which validates me and pID which is the ID of a make of car. The result of the call should bring back an XML response used to populate a drop down list with a list of models available for the specified MAKE.
