Iis - Run Server-side Code AFTER Page Render & Sending?
Dec 10, 2010I need to do stuff after my page is rendered in the browser. In detail, i need to send email/sms and other non-browser related stuff, but the operation takes time, and i dont want my visitors waiting 5-8s for the success message.I have tried putting the "After Rendering Code" in the page Unload event. That seems to work - but only on localhost. It does not work on our production server.So i figgured, maybe this is some IIS setting? I've also read that it's up to the browser, if it will show th epage after rendering is complete - or wait for the whole package to end.So i tried to end the package with Response.end before my "A-R-C", but that just killed it.

C# - Sending ICalendar Event To Client While Still Continue Running Code?
Oct 26, 2010I have built a basic calendar event using DDay.iCal, when I click "Add to calendar" link I produce an event and then sends this to the client.Basically, my application works like this.
A User logs in.
Selects a specific date.
Books a specific timeslot
Clicks the "Add to calendar" link
Sending the event is done by using Response.Write() which sends the following to the client:
Response.ContentType = "text/calendar";
Response.AddHeader("Content-disposition", "attachment; filename=appointment.ics");
Response.Write(iCalString);
The above works fins but it requires me to first book the event then manually and then click the "Add to calendar" link.I want to merge the steps 3 and 4. But when trying to do so the event booking gets saved to the database but the screen does not get refreshed.Is there a "simple" way to get around this?

Sep 7, 2010How do I go about sending fax in .NET? We have a fax server through which we need to fax documents to clients. Since we have a fax server, I don't imagine that I have to configure a fax modem on my machine, right? It would just go through the fax server?
Are there any good free (or cheap) Fax APIs out there? IN my research I've come across FAXCOMEXLib, FaxMan, and Windows Fax Service, but the documentation seems limited, so I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
