Visual Studio :: How To Stop Debugging In New Computer
I have VS 2008 Professional installed on my home and work computers, bothrunning XP Professional SP3. I have verified the tools, options -> Debugging settings are the same on both. On my home computer I can start debugging in the ASP.NET development server, stop debugging, make a change and refresh my website to view the change. On my work computer, I have to actually stop debugging, stop the ASP.NET development server and restart debugging and the Development server to view the changes.

Stop Screen Flicker CHAT Webapp?
i saw this link: Uchat. i have a simple webapp with little database and login controls and roles(using aspnetdb.mdf).

i want to implement the same chat app as given in the above link. i downloaded the code, but couldnt properly paste in my webapp. give me a simpler code to achive this.

i want to use a seperate chatting folder to use for this function(so i have the main web.config file outside).in general, i simply want a chat page where the users can do simple chatting, and their screen-name will be their userID(from aspnetdb.mdf). i dont want to use any database. i have a master page.

ok. i sorted out the above problem. i have implimented in my webapp. But when i am putting the chat page inside a master page, its starts FLICKERING. and when i keep as-it-is, it dosent fliker.. i also tried to put the whole thing in a AJAX-Updatte-Panel, it also failed(lot of errors).

HOW to Solve this?? How can i stop this screen flickering after putting this in the master page?? i am using VS 2008, .Net 3.5 and c#

Stop Buttons Move Around When Screen Resolution Changes?
am building an internal application using aspx and I have some users have a set screen resolution of 800 x 600 and others on 1024 x 768 with the app running in kiosk mode only. However, when I adjust my screen resolution to 800 x 600 my buttons are over laying one another and shifting out of position. I am using div tags for my screen layout, nesting the web controls inside with CSS to style them plus I also have div tags nested inside one another with web controls inside them. Not matter what I do, I can't keep the controls to stay in exactly the same position regardless of what screen resolution I set.Can someone give me an example when regardless of what screen resolution I am using everything stays in the same place?

C# - Stop From Re-appending Querystrings On Form Post Back?
I am developing a simple rating system for my employer's profile based web-app. Here is my problem:

The actual page is domain.com/review.aspx?user=username, but I use the url-rewrite module in IIS to use domain.com/username/review The page contains a repeater control that displays reviews for that username, as well as a form for people to create new reviewsWhen the form is submitted, asp.net re-appends the (hidden) querystring to the url on postback.The post-back url is now domian.com/username/review?user=username&review, causing the page to break if refreshed.

Is there any way to keep asp.net from re-appending the querystrings that are actually already present, but re-written with IIS

Live link <- submit a review, and then refresh the page (edit) by clicking in the address bar! Beautiful yellow error message.

EDIT

C# code:

protected void submitReview(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
try
{
int starRating = txtStarRating.Text == "" ? 0 : Int32.Parse(txtStarRating.Text);
testimonials.addNew(Int32.Parse(txtHiddenUid.Text), reviewContent.Text, reviewerName.Text, true, starRating);

[Code]....

Web Forms :: Change Screen Position On Postback?
Is there anyway to define the screen position after a postback?

Specificaly i'm referring to the vertical scroll position. Some of my controls are set to AutoPostback = True. Depending on their selected value it then reveals a hidden ASP.Net panel and some more questions.

Problem is that with each post back the page refreshes at the top and i have to scroll back down to my question. I can use the .focus() control, that's fine, but it doesn't work as perfectly as i'd like. Is there any way of defining how many lines or pixels the screen is already scrolled to upon postback?

Stop Postback For RadEditor With Spellcheck?
When I use a RadEditor I want to enable the editor's spell check (working thus far). After a spell check the user can either click on the radmodule (toolbar thing) to either "finish spellcheck" or "cancel." Which is all fine and dandy except the "finish" button causes a postback!! I don't want that at this point!! "cancel" more or less does what I want to happen - I mostly just want a "done" or a way to stop the postback.

I've tried an Update panel but that just grays out the text area after it does the update.

AJAX :: Stop ModalPopupExtender From Closing Every Postback?
I've placed a ModalPopupExtender in a WebUserControl to gather and display information to the user. The problem is that, whenever ANY button is clicked, or DropDown control is changed (i.e., anything that causes a postback), the ModalPopupExtender closes. This is not the desired behavior. Taking some advice from a coworker, I've placed a "dummy" button in the Web User Control in the same area of the OK/Cancel buttons, and set its display style to "none". Then I assigned the TargetControlID, OKControlID and CancelControlID to the dummyButton. After that, in the code-behind page I used an UpdatePanel1.FindControl(). FindControl() to delve into and retrieve the ModalPopupExtender, and use its Show() method to start it up. This worked just fine, but even with the OK/Cancel buttons set to a currently non-button, every control that causes a postback closes the modal window. I was also advised to try moving the control containing the ModalPopupExtender out of the UpdatePanel (I'm aware that was just grasping at straws), but this caused a run-time error. I'm am not a super JavaScript guru, and would prefer to find a solution that doesn't require an exhaustive journey into that realm. What I want is to explicitly open and close the modal window via my C# code, and not to have it close every time the user does something in it.

Web Forms :: Stop Postback If Selected Value In Dropdown List = No
I want to stop postback if a certain value from a ddl is selected.

I've used VB to create a page whereby if a certain value from a ddl is selected then a hidden panel becomes visible. The problem is the likely answer to a majority of my ddl's is 'No' (or a no type response), however, even though the panel visibility remains false upon selecting No a postback still occurrs, the page refreshes and moves back to the top. I suppose this is a question with 2 possible solutions (or 2 questions rather)

1: Is there anyway of setting postback to false if selected value = No? A typical example of how my code appears is below

[Code]....

(i've used the value '1' to represenet Yes)

2: Is there a way of setting the page position after postback? As you can see in my code above i've set the focus on the next control (being a Radio Button) but i mean, is there an actual way of defining where the scroll bar is set?

AJAX :: Stop AutoComplete SeviceMethod With Normal PostBack Button?
I have a textbox with an autocomplete extender.The user types in a few chars and usually gets a few to a few hundred suggestions back.And its pretty quick.This is on a formview control at the bottom by the paging.  It is for a "Go to" feature.But it is returning the suggestions from the same list of  search results from the previous page.(It's really the same page but I just toggle the visibility between the GridView Results and the FormView details).And if  they select "All Tickets" its possible to get 5000 results from the search.
Now the autocomplete is really doing the same search as the search results did which is like 46 seconds. And then weeding it down further with the prefix (chars they type in the autocomplete textbox).I have a Return to list button. And I want the Button to interrupt, stop, cancel, abort, or somehow just not wait for the WebMethod to finish, and do a PostBack right away.Since btnReturnToList is a normal postback I can't really use PageRequestManager to check if in async or last postbackelementId or anything.
