I have VS 2008 Professional installed on my home and work computers, bothrunning XP Professional SP3. I have verified the tools, options -> Debugging settings are the same on both. On my home computer I can start debugging in the ASP.NET development server, stop debugging, make a change and refresh my website to view the change. On my work computer, I have to actually stop debugging, stop the ASP.NET development server and restart debugging and the Development server to view the changes.
i saw this link: Uchat. i have a simple webapp with little database and login controls and roles(using aspnetdb.mdf).
i want to implement the same chat app as given in the above link. i downloaded the code, but couldnt properly paste in my webapp. give me a simpler code to achive this.
i want to use a seperate chatting folder to use for this function(so i have the main web.config file outside).in general, i simply want a chat page where the users can do simple chatting, and their screen-name will be their userID(from aspnetdb.mdf). i dont want to use any database. i have a master page.
ok. i sorted out the above problem. i have implimented in my webapp. But when i am putting the chat page inside a master page, its starts FLICKERING. and when i keep as-it-is, it dosent fliker.. i also tried to put the whole thing in a AJAX-Updatte-Panel, it also failed(lot of errors).
HOW to Solve this?? How can i stop this screen flickering after putting this in the master page?? i am using VS 2008, .Net 3.5 and c#
am building an internal application using aspx and I have some users have a set screen resolution of 800 x 600 and others on 1024 x 768 with the app running in kiosk mode only. However, when I adjust my screen resolution to 800 x 600 my buttons are over laying one another and shifting out of position. I am using div tags for my screen layout, nesting the web controls inside with CSS to style them plus I also have div tags nested inside one another with web controls inside them. Not matter what I do, I can't keep the controls to stay in exactly the same position regardless of what screen resolution I set.Can someone give me an example when regardless of what screen resolution I am using everything stays in the same place?
I have 2 textboxes and a submit button inside a .net composite server control. I tried to only postback when submit button is clicked. I set autopostback = false for both textboxes. But either one still trigger submit button's onclick event by hitting "Enter" inside textbox. How can I stop postback by enter key?
Whenever I have an error in my code, instead of getting the "Yellow screen of death," all I get is a tiny little script error icon on the bottom left corner of the browser. What do I need to change so any errors throw the yellow screen, which I prefer?
I just implented a login and deployed a system that works great on the local machine. After working on the deployed version for a few minutes, we get dumped back to the login screen for no apparant reason. Happens after just a few minutes, and from random places in the application. The login stuff is pretty much out of the box. This is from config
We are not doing anything at all in the codebehind regarding timeouts, etc.
if i press a button in my asp.net page it automatically sends me back to the top of the page. for example one button i have is to show the answer to a simple calculation and when i press it the answer is at the bottom of the page and i am sent to the top!
I am developing a simple rating system for my employer's profile based web-app. Here is my problem:
The actual page is domain.com/review.aspx?user=username, but I use the url-rewrite module in IIS to use domain.com/username/review The page contains a repeater control that displays reviews for that username, as well as a form for people to create new reviewsWhen the form is submitted, asp.net re-appends the (hidden) querystring to the url on postback. The post-back url is now domian.com/username/review?user=username&review, causing the page to break if refreshed.
Is there any way to keep asp.net from re-appending the querystrings that are actually already present, but re-written with IIS
Live link <- submit a review, and then refresh the page (edit) by clicking in the address bar! Beautiful yellow error message.
Is there anyway to define the screen position after a postback?
Specificaly i'm referring to the vertical scroll position. Some of my controls are set to AutoPostback = True. Depending on their selected value it then reveals a hidden ASP.Net panel and some more questions.
Problem is that with each post back the page refreshes at the top and i have to scroll back down to my question. I can use the .focus() control, that's fine, but it doesn't work as perfectly as i'd like. Is there any way of defining how many lines or pixels the screen is already scrolled to upon postback?
I have a page, the user types in e-mail and then submits. The next page is a confirmed page - letting the user know that his -mail was entered. If you then click back, the forum will try to re-submit itself. Is there a way to stop this?
This has probably never been asked before but I want to eliminate asp.net from a website.I have just purchased another business and the website was included. I wish to keep the look of the website but it was made in asp.net and my host uses a linux server. If I download the website onto my computer, how difficult would it be to convert it back to an ordinary website without all this asp.net stuff.
I have a JQuery Dialog that is opened when a button is clicked. The first time around, it should do a postback, but when the dialog closes and I click the refresh button of the broswer, it sends the data again and duplicates the data I just entered. Should I add a return false somewhere so it doesn't postback when the dialog is closed. Here is the script:
When I use a RadEditor I want to enable the editor's spell check (working thus far). After a spell check the user can either click on the radmodule (toolbar thing) to either "finish spellcheck" or "cancel." Which is all fine and dandy except the "finish" button causes a postback!! I don't want that at this point!! "cancel" more or less does what I want to happen - I mostly just want a "done" or a way to stop the postback.
I've tried an Update panel but that just grays out the text area after it does the update.
I have a textbox in an aspx page that has a TextChanged event attached to it. I also have a validator attached to the textbox.
When the text is changed, the validate triggers but in case there is an error the textchanged event is still called. Do you know if it's possible to stop the postback on textchanged if the validator fires?
On my form I have a button that pops up a panel to select an option from. It does a postback to fill in a textbox with the selected data. The other controls such as other textboxes and dropdowns are reset. Any way to stop this? Or do I have to save the settings and set it back on the postback?
