Javascript - Correct Way To Store Data In The DOM

I have recently been using the title tag in various HTML elements to store data in JSON format in the DOM.
Is this a bad approach (I am assuming it is)? What is the correct way to accomplish this that works well with jQuery? By "works well" I mean

var myData;
eval("myData=" + $(this).attr("title"));
});
Works pretty well but again I am assuming there is a better way to do this no?
PS: BTW how does the title tag of HTML elements actually work? I cant seem to find where it actually ends up getting used?
PSS: Can I also get a jQuery based and Non jQuery response?

I think I summed up the question in the title. Here is some further elaboration...I have a web user control that is used in multiple places, sometimes more than once on a given page.The web user control has a specific set of JavaScript functions (mostly jQuery code) that are containted within *.js files and automatically inserted into page headers.However, when I want to use the control more than once on a page, the *.js files are included 'n' number of times and, rightly so, the browser gets confused as to which control it's meant to be executing which function on.What do I need to do in order to resolve this problem? I've been staring at this all day and I'm at a loss.

I am passing in a value to the form that I ultimately assign to a textbox using javascript. The value is a calculation based on values from another page/form. However, the textbox is editable.
When reloading the form with the previously saved data, I don't want the value of the textbox to be overwritten with the pre-calculated value from another page if it was edited manually upon save.
The other stipulation is, the page/form that has the values that the calculation is created from, can be changed. Therefore, I would also want to check to see if the calculated value has changed since last load, and if so, load that over the manually entered value.
So...
If textbox is blank populate with calculated value else if Manually entered value trumps calculated value else if calculated value has changed since last calculation, it trumps manually entered value.
The other concern with this all, is how do I determine if the user has typed in the textbox to determine if the value was manually entered?

I have an ASCX component that has a lot of javascript declared in a script tag in the ascx itself. I can set breakpoints, and the debugger stops as it should, but the text that is highlighted in the debugger as the "current line" is nowhere near the actual javascript (it is much higher in the rendered file than it should be). I can "wing it" for one or two lines with the real code side-by-side with the "false" line of execution, but I lose all the hover abilities and everything else that makes javascript debugging useful.
I have tried putting the script at the top of my ascx file, but to no avail. I've tried not setting a breakpoint until the entire page is rendered, so that I have to scroll all the way to where the actual lines of code are, and the debugger still stops somewhere way above it.

I'm working on a mapping application and will be allowing a user to make a query and have the resulting locations display on a map.I want the users to be able to interact with the map, but I need to know exactly which item they're interacting with, so it would be easiest if when the original query is made, the id's are put in a hidden field somewhere so I can just perform an insert statement based just on the key, rather than having to to another query to find out the key by saying "where location name is x and the coordinates are y, and the description is z" etc.Is this a bad idea, i.e. could anyone do any harm if they discovered that I was storing the primary key in a hidden field?

So I have a dropdown setup on the page called ddlVehicleType that is populated from a store. This method gets called when another dropdown is changed, and it's supposed to remove all items from the aforementioned store, re-add them as needed, and then populate the dropdown with the new values. It's doing everything it's supposed to EXCEPT clearing the store before it re-adds the values, so the result is, when I switch, I'm getting what it used to be PLUS the new values that should be in there by themselves. Here is the weird thing though, when I switch back, the values are removed without re-adding anything. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Method is below:

I need a solution which could be centralized, use CACHE, easy to update:
01 Use a DATABASE with a Table (configure table) which for every records (VARCHAR) would allow storing of these spinets of code as string.
02 Use simple Text Files in a specific folder, so I can include these files in my code. I could update codes using FTP and NotePad (Here I am concern about cache).
03 Use Web.Conf file.
04 Use Text File and a Class wich would manage storing in cache the content of these file.

Where is the best place to store a javascript file in my website?
Should they be stored in the App_Code folder allong with C# files or should I create a dedicated folder in the root of the website? Or are there any other options?

Its related to datatable in gridview store in session and then session retrive and store to database. basically i am using gridview here creating new row for button click and these row adding untill user's last entry then submit all these entry to database. so i want to use session variable to store this data temporarily and after final entry user click on submit button and all data shold be save in db.

I have loaded up a gridview object with data. I have turned on Edit on the grid. It lets me edit the data, but I also want to put some code to check for correct data in each field. I tried to assign a requiredfieldvalitor, comparevaliditor but they don't work. Is there an event I can capture to fire up some code before the grid sves my data?

How do I dynamically change the content of a data grid to select the correct data from database when the drop down list SelectedIndexChanged event happens?
To be more specific, I have a dropdown list of apple, orange and pearl.
When the dropdown list changes from apple to orange, I want the datagrid to query the database like this "select count(*) from fruit where name='orange'" and dynamically update the content.

i made a small n-tier webapplication, a DATA project with my business objects a DA project with my datacces logic and a GUI project woth my website. For the CRUD operations on my main tables I use a lot of listviews, that works fine but when data grows its slows down.I used already used optimal paging & shared collection's to preventing database acces if data is already loaded en that helps alot.But I see when a user select the EDIT command the select of my listview is performed what is not needed, also when the user than select cancel the select is again called , is this normal behavior or do I made a mistake in program logic somewhere because this behavior is slowing my application down.

hey folks I got a general question that maybe some of you can just weigh in. I developed an online store for a client and people place orders online for a food ordering place however I am trying to find the best way to have the orders show up for them at the store. Currently I am sending an email and an autoprint software prints it out which works most of the time but not good enough sometimes it doesn't print. Anyone had similar issues or have other alternative solutions you may have heard off? Like I said the site sends an email to the customer and the store's email account.

I've been having issues with data downloaded using a .net WebClient control, in that I seem to have little control over the encoding of the data that I get back from a web server.
The specifics of the question are in the post linked below, but I want to ask the question in a more general sense as the answer is not really helping (not the answerer's fault!).
ASP.NET / C# WebClient.DownloadString() returns string with perculiar characters
The real problem is that supposedly there is no way to detect the encoding of a response from a web server, and the webserver may not respond using the encoding specified in the headers.
If this is true, how do web browsers such as IE, Firefox and Chrome work out how to decode the stream when you use the view source functionality?

I created web pages that used an SQL database on my home computer. That DB allowed me to use data types such as 'date' and 'time'. But when I transferred my website to a host server, I discovered that its DB does not accept these types. They only use 'datetime' and 'timestamp'. I changed the tables in the DB on my computer to conform to the same format as on the host computer. I also changed the properties to the new data types with the O/R Developer and re-published the website files to the host server. But I keep getting the same error message that states the server does not support 'date' data types whenever I execute a web page that uses that table column. The C# code states "officetable.StartDate = DateTime.Today;"

I am still studying to become a webintegrator and this is my private project to try and learn C# better.
I have a database with a table called Answers which holds AnswerID, Answer1, Answer2, Answer3 and CorrectAnswer + a table called Questions which holds QuestionID, QuestionNumber and QuestionText.
On a page i have a repeater that pulls the questions from the database and inside it i have another repeater with my 3 radiobuttons that pulls the 3 Answers from the database and are grouped so you can only check 1 of the radiobuttons as the user. See below:

What i need to do, is somehow find each CorrectAnswer checked correctly in the repeater holding the radiobuttons and give 1 point for each CorrectAnswer chosen by the user (if theres 10 questions there will be 10 repeateritems with 3 radiobuttons in each one) and write this into aspnet_Profile. Problem is i have no idea how to do this since it already seems a bit complicated in my head and i haven't had much C# yet. So any help would do and notice i do not ask for the entire coding but simply a push in the right direction.

I created a DAL that calls into my database. I then have my BLL which calls into the DAL. This is then hooked up to two drop down lists, where drop down list 2 items are dependent on the selected item from dropdown list 1.
I used an objectDatsource to be the object that loads the data into the two drop down lists. If the user selects Quentin Tarantino in drop down list 1 then drop down list 2 would only show Pulp Fiction, but how could i get the correct star to be displayed based on this selection?
