In my project i have used master page.In one particular page , i want a function to be executed on page unload(javascript event) event of that particular page.To achieve this i have written

But this is not working.This function is not getting called when i move to other page.
I've got an website that needs to know when someone has closed a details page. Is there a way to fire a post back using Javascript to call a particular Sub or Function on the Unload event?

I have a web application which hangs after clicking a checkbox which is set to autopostback. This checkbox is supposed to do some process.
When I did the breakpoint, the application does not go to the On_PageLoad event but goes directly to the On_Unload event. After that, it hangs. It does not go to the On check changed of the checkbox.
Here are the events that are only called after the checkbox has been ticked.

Have been stuck with this issue for a few days now, and really need, and would appreciate some help. My requirement is that I want to make a server side callback to clear off some objects when the user navigates away from our page, without clicking logout. For business reasons, our ASP.NET session timeout has to be set to a very high value. Further, I do not want to popup a alert/dialog to force the user to return to the page and click Logoff.The solution I have arrived at thus far is to make a AJAX callback by embedding this javascript in the page.

How to access controls in master page using javascript? The master page consists of a search textbox, on key down event of the control I call a javascript function writtern inline of the master page. I get the value of entered in textbox in that javascript function. I have tried giving document.getElementById("<%=txtSearch.ClientID %>").value as well as document.getElementById("txtSearch").value. Both display error. I have to access the textbox control from within the master page itself!

I have two search options:
1. On Master Page there is a text box and button for search.
2. on content page there is form for with two texboxes and a button for search.
Now whenever i press enter key from keyboard, the masterpage button event is fires.
I mean in every case when I press enter key from keyboard the same event is called.

When my asp.net aspx page unloads i am trying to check if the current session is expired. I have this code in the Page_unlaod and i get a "Response is not available in this context" error. What is the problem placing this code in the Page_unlaod?

the page is in a frame with 3 other pages so when the page is doing a postback, there is client side code that will the page 2 in the frameset to 100% visible, then when page is laoded and the document is ready it sets itself 100% visible in the frame. I have tried placing the code in page_load but when the session has timedout the pageload is never executed again. I have tried to place the code in the pageload of page 2 in the frameset but that causes some funny behavior and unwanted redirects.

Here is my situation: I have a user control that has a menu in it. This user control sits on my master page. It is my main navigation menu for my application. I am having an issue where, on one of my pages, users seem to be leaving the page before committing all changes to the database, which results in a loss of data. So what I want to accomplish is - if the user is leaving this page and the data has not been saved yet, I want to prompt the user and say something like "The information is not yet saved, are you sure you want to leave this page" in a modal popup. So my approach is this: In my menu user control, create an event handler called MenuClicked that is raised when the menu web control's (in the user control) MenuItemClicked is raised, I raise my custom MenuClicked event. Then on my master page, I can catch this event in NavMenu_MenuClicked. My problem is - I need to catch this event in my content page, not the master? Am I approaching this correctly?

My problem is this I have a base page that creates content dynamically. There are buttons on my Master Page that fire events that my base page needs to know about. But the OnLoad function on my base page fires before my Button_Command function on my master page. So I either need to figure out a way to load my base page after the Button_Command function has had the chance to set a variable or I must call a function in my base page from the Button_Command function.

However, I have one page where if they make changes I set a set a flag that I want to use makes them save or cancel the changes before they can navigate away from the page.
