I used to be able to view the pages of my ASP.NET 3.5 website locally via the 'View in Browser' facility. However, this no longer works (for any page). All I get is a 'HTTP 404 Not Found' error message.
look at this sample link address: (weather.gov) [URL] if you view page source in browser, you can see that it shows data in XML format (usng xsl.?). I need to implement a simple web page like that. I think that web site uses XML XSL I'm going to implement a web application in asp.net which will use data stored in sql database (or xml database or web service) and show these information like other normal web sites but in xml format in nice UI (using xsl?).That Weather website is only a sample to show what i want to do (i will not use any data from that site, my application is different). My requirement is being able to view page source only in XML format. Now I'm clear that xsl is the solution for that, but considering to use this method in asp.net.(use xml/xsl in dynamic asp.net pages) My Question? It is important for me to make the web page output in xml format(visible in xml format in page view source) but looks user friendly for users. 1.how can i do it in asp.net ?
I have asp.net web site which has master page ajax and css file....
I have change masterpage and change master page reference in each page to new masterpage name. then i open aspx page and open in design view no problem i can see new lay out colours and images, when i right click on file name and click on view on browser page open in IE but not images no styles. try on Firefox same problem.
I'm storing a Session object and checking if the user is authnticated to view the page or not, if he is not he should be redirected into another page, anyway when entering specific pages im checking that session variable then clearing and calling Abandon on it, anyway still the browser displays the same "should be requiring authntication" pages, anyone knows about this?
I am using the following code to ensure that the web pages in my website are not cached by the browser:
this.Response.Expires = 0;
This is working fine & the browser displays a page with the message, "Warning. This page has expired....". Is there any way I can display a custom page instead of the default page shown by the browser?
I am pretty new to ASP. I have a asp page created and it is using the active directory to authenticate the user with AD login credentials. My problem is the code is working fine in our TEST environment. And the same code when I move to Production it is giving me an error saying you are not authorized to view this page.
I only have 1 user that cannot see reports. I even did a gotomeeting and we clicked refresh serveral times and we get the Report Execution Session died.
Every other user works on VPN. The rest of the wqeb site also works fine. Does any have some pointers on find a resolution for this user. He is windows authenticated and using a VPN. ( I have 1 user out of at least 50 have worked fine with a report viewer over VPN.
When i run application this error message is appearing .

I have an application asp.net with framework 3.5sp1. I had used DBML to access all my stored procedure and EDMX to access to all my web services. on the development machine all is ok I have no problem, but when I deploy the application on the production server (WS 2003) and I try to execute my web servcie (myapp.svc) I get an error message "cannot open this page, view the server log".
the IIS is correctly configured, the security I used Anonymous with an authentificated user (not IUSR_server) I give him full control to my virtual directory.
permission is ok for aspnet...
I tried to execute some pages that use only DBML and it works fine.
I got this error after creating the virtual directory and trying to access the webpage through wireless.. I had access before..but somehow I don't have any moredoes someone know how to resolve this issue?

I'm new to MVC and would like to find out how to view PDF files. Specifically, I have a bunch of PDF files on disk. I would like to render links to those PDF files using MVC and allow the user to click on a link to view the PDF file in a browser.
I'm just getting started in ASP.net and am building a site. I made a change to a style sheet to change the color of the links in my menu control on my master page. It looks great in the designer and is just the way I want it. Although, if I view default.aspx in the browser it is back to how it was before I made the change. Can anyone give me some suggestions on places to look to figure out why it isn't right in the browser?
I downloaded a version of VS 2008 Professional and installed it on my laptop. Everything seems find until I build it hit view in browser. Then I get 'Web page could not be found'. I'm thinking I must have some setting wrong but I couldn't begin to determine what it might be.
i have created a web project and i want to test it.when i click on debug or click on default page to view on browser , ASP.NET Web Development Server Works but nothing appear in my web browser . even i used internal browser of Visual Studio 2008 but it shows this message :
i have to mention that there is no installation of IIS in my computer.
when I'm building a menu in a view I get following error when code reaches <% Next item%> :
System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled by user code
Message=The value of a property that is part of an object's key does not match the corresponding property value stored in the ObjectContext. This can occur if properties that are part of the key return inconsistent or incorrect values or if DetectChanges is not called after changes are made to a property that is part of the key.
My view: (its a userview)
My Model [Code]....
My Datasource [Code]....
I use this way of looping frequent the only thing is that this is that this entity has a view as source and not a table, so I think it has to be related with that.
I can place an Excel file in the root directory, use Browse and view an xlsx, xlsm or any other Excel file and it (sometimes) pops up in a browser window with no option to save or do anything other than view the Excel document (you can type in the cells and it gives you the option to save if there are any changes). I'm trying to find out how to do that exact thing client-side.
We have a server that allows a client to upload an Excel file and we want them to be able to review it only. If there is a way to bypass the Open message box that pops, that would be ideal, but just getting it to display in a separate, small browser window would be just what the doctor ordered. The Excel files are varied so the content is always different and not necessarily formatted the same. That removes the ability to go with named ranges and definitions.
Currently with the code we have, users can press a view button to review the file they uploaded for errors but it opens up the full version of Excel and then throws errors because it tries to force a save to a temp file. Not exactly ideal and very confusing to the user. I don't habve the exact code available to me at the moment, but I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.
I have a solution CPortal created in Visual Studio 2010. It has two Projects (CPporal and Login). If I right click the Login project folder and select 'View in Browser' It opens in IE as http://localhost:4558/Login/. If I rightclick the CPortal folder and select 'View in Browser it opens as http://localhost:1807/CPortal/. Please note the change in port number.
I am facing problem because, after I get myself authorized on the Login, it is is supposed to redirect me to CPortal, which it does, but uses the same port number that Login opened with. i.e. It redirects me to http://localhost:4558/CPortal/ and gives 404 file not found error. How do I make Visual Studio 2010 to use the same port number for both (all) projects so that this problem does not occur.
