Jul 15, 2010
I am using this connection string,
<add name="connectionString" connectionString="server=10.1.1.16;user id=root;
password=lmslive; database=lmslive; pooling=false;"
providerName="MySql.Data.MySqlClient"/>
and this database lmslive is in a system next to mine connected via proxy.... And i executed this query on that system,
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON lmslive.* TO 'lmslive'@'10.1.1.15' IDENTIFIED BY 'lmslive' WITH GRANT OPTION; I get the error, Access denied for user 'root'@'XAVY-PANDIYA' (using password: YES).. what am i missing?

I deployed a website where a logged user or an anonymous user can select data and download a XML file. The website generate the XML file in the server and then deliver it.
It works fine in my development environment, but after deployment, the anonymous user can download the file, but the logged user receive this error:
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'd:HostsLocalUserheringerwebsiteUpload20110107094051.xml' is denied.
It is weird that as anonymous i can do it.
The website server help states this:
"Grant write, modify, delete access rights on website's folder
Your website executes under unique user account that by default has full control over the website's folder.
So your application can create, open, read, write and delete files and folders inside of your root folder.
There is no need and no way to change this permissions.
If, when running ASP.Net application, you still unable to create file or update it, you have to check your Web.Config file for "<Identity impersonate..." tag and remove it.
The only exception is when the application tries to modify a file or folder in "Application_Start" event of Global.asax file. This is by design that user authenticated only after the Application_Start even. Before the user is authenticated your website runs under an identity of Application Pool which is "Network services". That account doesn't have access to the folder of your website.
To make it work you eather have to move the code that tries to modify files or folders out of the "Application_Start" event of the Global.asax file or inside the event you'll need to impersonate your user by code."
But i am not using impersonate and the tag is not in my web.config.

I'm trying to make an executable in VS2008 that will read a webpage source code using a vb.NET function into a string variable. The problem is that the page is not *.html but rather *.aspx.
I need a way to execute the aspx and get the displayed html into a string. The page I want to read is any page of this type: [URl]
I have tried the following code, which works properly for html pages, but generates the wrong source code with "access denied" for the page title when I pass in the above aspx page.
Dim myReq As WebRequest = WebRequest.Create(url)
Dim myWebResponse As WebResponse = myReq.GetResponse()
Dim dataStream As Stream = myWebResponse.GetResponseStream()
Dim reader As New StreamReader(dataStream, System.Text.Encoding.UTF8)
Dim responseFromServer As String = reader.ReadToEnd()

OdbcConnection MyConnection = new OdbcConnection("Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};Server=localhost;Database=testcase;User=root;Password=root;Option=3;");

MyCmd1.Parameters.AddWithValue("", TextBox3.Text);
MyCmd1.ExecuteNonQuery();

I have a db connection string 'ApplicationServices' defined in the connectionString section of web.config and 3 Entity Framework connection strings which have the provider connection string attribute with the same connection string as the one in 'ApplicationServices'. Is there a way to reference connectionString in 'ApplicationServices' for the provider connection string attribute of the EF connection string in the web.config, rather than providing the connection string all over again?

I have a Windows Service I have developed in Visual Studio 2005 (C#).
It accesses a database using a connection string in machine.config.
On my Windows XP Pro 32bit (SP3) machine, it works correctly.
On my new Windows 7 Pro 64bit machine, it throws "object not set to an instance of an object" when it gets to the line where it's trying use the connection string.
This is the 'object' which is not set in Windows 7:
ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["MyDatabase"].ConnectionString
The machine.config has the same connection string set up on both machines.
A .Net 2 website transferred to the Windows 7 machine has no problem accessing the same connection string.
I have tried a bunch of different permissions on the machine.config and its containing folders, and setting the service to log in as Admin, but I don't know exactly what permissions are required.

I have a database on Go Daddy and my VS2008 app can not access it via web.config connection string. Of course runs great locally in development. I copy/pasted the connection string information from Go Daddy exactly into my web.config file. Web site runs fine on the web but when I try to Login at my login page, i get :The SSE Provider did not find the database file specified in the connection string. At the configured trust level (below High trust level), the SSE provider can not automatically create the database file.
I used VS2008 to create the .sql script files and uploaded them to Go Daddy and the Go Daddy people say everything works as they and I can both Login to the database from within GoDaddy.The database i am trying to access consists of the a ASPNETDB.mdf and another Database.mdf together as one in the Go Daddy database.
here is what i used: <connectionStrings><add
name="superskin"
connectionString="Data

I am writing a web app for work. The users who are using this app will not be using the same connection string- for example, we have about 40 customers whose data resides in their respective database. The goal of this app is to be able to query the database for a given customer without having to go in and modify the web.config connection string (obviously, because that will change the connection string globally across users- I want the users to be able to have their own local connection string to be used by the app). is this possible?

I'm thinking the problem here is with my SQL Syntax, but I'm not sure and need a fresh pair of eyes to check it out. This is the code I'm using to connect to and then insert into the DB:
OdbcConnection datConn = CreateDataConn();
datConn.Open();
OdbcCommand comm = new OdbcCommand();
comm.CommandText = "INSERT INTO userdata (key, secretkey, uid) VALUES ('" + token + "', '" + secret + "', '" + twitterid + "');";
comm.Connection = datConn;
comm.ExecuteNonQuery();
datConn.Close();
And here is the CreatDataConn() method:
private OdbcConnection CreateDataConn()
{
OdbcConnection dbConn = new OdbcConnection();
dbConn.ConnectionString = "Dsn=MySQL;database=twittertest;option=0;port=0;server=localhost;uid=root;pass=Red!4jedi";
return dbConn;
}
I created a DSN to the database, which is hosted on my machine. When I run the application I get this error:
ERROR [42000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.1.51-community]You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'key, secretkey, uid) VALUES ('127090765-i3aZl71LPSVUCPZs9kHSYeBli0vWpbq0BaM1roYC' at line 1
But for the life of me I can't figure out what's wrong with my syntax...It's prolly something simple, but again, I need a pair of fresh eyes to look at this.
