I want to save some information in LOGIN Page and display it in other pages line UserName or AccessRights etc.
Is there anyway to do this without using Cookies and Seassion ?

Example:
1) User XPTO logs in
2) Query DataBase to see where he belongs
3) Store those 2 or 3 fields that i will get in Database in a persistent way to use it in the whole site.

However i cannot seem to link the login ID's of users to their specific details in the database. I am using an IFrame in one of my aspx pages. The source for the Iframe is an aspx page which consists of several links of other pages(All are developed in .net 2003) now i am using 2008.The Problem is for some of the pages there is query string which consists of username.I need to pass the username from the parent page to the IFrame pages.Is there any way to acheive this?
View 2 RepliesI have an Employee class in my App_Code folder. On my login page I am trying to create an Employee using the asp.net username as a parameter in my Employee constructor.
I have tried creating the employee in the page load event when it is a post back. I have tried doing it in the Login1_LoggedIn event. For some reason I cannot pull the username in either one of these places, but if I redirect after logging in and do the same thing on another page, it works.
How can I get it done on the login page?

In my application i have login Page in that i have login Control of asp.net, when user clicks on submit button i am authenticating the user and and redirecting to default url.
now what i want is using address bar i want to authenticate the same process with out opening the login page and give user name and password in the login control. Directly i want to inject the username and password in the address bar and need the same functionality what the submit button does.
i have articles on net using post methods but i am not able to do this.
I am using VS2008 and want to display a login page with a background image. If I add the image to the page's body and name the page login1.aspx, it displays fine. However, when I change the name to login.aspx, I can see the background in design mode, but the background image does not display when run (debug or otherwise).
I try the same thing using a div or asp:panel and get the same results. I read a post where someone else was having similar problems; however, no answer was given other than blaming VS2005.

I have a need to display user-specific information in my master page. As a result, I have set up all of my controllers to be inherited from a "master" controller. This has worked well for other aspects of the master page, such as displaying random quotes. However, while using this technique to incorporate the user-specific information, I ran into a problem where, when I check the Request.IsAuthenticated value, the Request object is null.

Question is:
Its not secure to store information like that plain text in cookies.My DB store hashed passwords,so i could save those hashs in cookies and retrieve them later,but if i do that i wouldnt be able to fill password's textbox cause the hash string would be too long for it.
I am creating the user ,using asp.net + C#.there is the form (UI) who collects the information and send data to Business layer. now, while collecting the information from UI I want to also save the image of user, at file system in application domain.There is function in the business layer as SaveImage, which returns the path where it is saving. Scenario:1) Save image first and then save other information in DB.

The login.aspx page uses a master page and styles in a stylesheet located in a folder off the root directory called 'Styles'. I have also add the following to my config file.

</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
When the page displays, the login page displays with the master page content, however all of the styles are missing. When I embed styles into the master page the styles show properly, so I know the problem is that the styles are not being accessed from the file. how I can authorize access to the stylesheet?
