I want to store employee name,designation and department in session variable and retrieve in another page how to do this.
View 2 RepliesIts related to datatable in gridview store in session and then session retrive and store to database. basically i am using gridview here creating new row for button click and these row adding untill user's last entry then submit all these entry to database. so i want to use session variable to store this data temporarily and after final entry user click on submit button and all data shold be save in db.
View 9 RepliesCurrently in an .aspx file, I am storing a value (filename that was created in that session) in an hidden text box. When the user clicks on the "Print" labeled Hyperlink control, it opens the file that was stored in the hidden text box control. But when the user goes to different screen (in the same session), I loose the filename value that is stored in the hidden text box control. So I would like to store the filename variable in a session variable. So that if the user leaves this .aspx file and comes back to this .aspx file I can load the value into the hidden text box from the session variable.
View 11 RepliesI have a web application which uses a session variable to store the logged in userid. If no user is logged in, of course this variable will be empty and the contents displayed on my website are meant for guests. If there is a user logged in, the user specific controls/access/links will then be a displayed.
I am now having issues with my hosting where on shared application pool, the worker recycle is triggered every 90 minutes, this will clear sessions causing all my users to be logged out. I opted for a dedicated application pool, which got worse because I am only allocated 50MB memory limit and if this is reached, the worker recycle is triggered and I lose my sessions again. I have tried as much as possible optimization techniques, e.g. dispose where possible, close connections, disable viewstate for static controls etc but my memory per instance keeps building up from page to page without any signs of improvement. I don't use loops nor store huge objects like bitmaps etc but my sessions are now gone even faster than 90 minutes in shared application pool before.
I have considered using SQL Session State but there isn't a simple guide on using this with MySQL. I am getting desperate and considering using a public variable, a string as a replacement to store logged in user id instead of in a session variable. I am pretty sure this will solve my issue with sessions being recycled but are there any negative consequences of doing this? One problem I can think of is if the user closes the browser, the system will never know that the user is now logged out and this public variable should be nothing. In this scenario, will the GC eventually clear this abandoned public variable.
I need to fetch the selected value from the dropdown and display it in a label control. This can be done through postback and setting the value as label1.Text = dropdown1.SelectedItem.Text. or in clientside using javascript. Is there any alternative way for this?
View 6 RepliesI have a datalist that shows Label, Label2 and has 8 rows of data.
I would like to store the value in Label2 row 8 in a session variable... how can i do this in VB.net?
consider this scenario: a user on my website has a profileID. There are some pluginID's associated with this profileID.
E.g.: User1 might have 2, 3 and 5 plugins associated with his profile.
When the user logs in, I store the profileID of the user in a session variable cod. ON a certain page, the user tries to edit the plugins associated with his profile. So, on that page, I have to retrieve those pluginID's from the DB.
I have applied this code but this fetches only the maximum pluginID from the DB and not all the pluginID's.
[Code]....
I was trying to figure out how can I store multiple pluginID's in this session variable?
How would I create a list then on click add data to the list which is then stored into a session variable, then on another page retrieve the variable and output them? Currently I have:
Page Load:
List <myClass> listName=new List<myClass>
OnClick:
listName.add(3);
listName.add(4);
Session["IDs"]=listName;
Second Page
I need to get the whole list and add output the list so I can output (hopefully) the '3' and '4'.
How can i generate dropdown lists based on what has been selected in the checckbox list. Below is an example of what i need. if the user selects the options day, lotID and waferID, then 3 cascading dropdown lists should be displayed. And then a gridview displays data based on what has been chosen in the dropdown lists.

SlotID
WaferID
VendorID
ToolID
LocationDetected
ProcessStep
Stage
Precipe
WaferStartMaterial
WaferStartVendor
WaferStartLot

Clicking the label of a drop down list, re-sets the selected value to the first item in the list. This has a history of causing data entry problems when users accidently click on the label.
In the below example ddlContactType has a selected value as 'PRIMARY' and whenever i click on the lblContactType Text, the dropdown box Selected value is changing to "Select One" Text.
How to prevent this one. It should be on PRIMARY Only.
<p>
<tr> <td ><asp:Label ID="lblContactType" Font-Bold="true" Text="Contract Type: *" ForeColor= "red" runat="server" AssociatedControlID="ddlContactType"></asp:Label> </td> <td > <asp:DropDownList runat="server" ID="ddlContactType" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource2" AppendDataBoundItems="true"
DataTextField="TYPE" DataValueField="ID" SelectedValue='<%# Bind("CONTACT_TYPE_ID") %>'>
<asp:ListItem Text="Select One" Value="0" Selected="True"></asp:ListItem>.......
I'm trying to progam a strongly typed "Create" view using MVC 3 and razor. I want the user to be able to select a customer from a dropdown list (I populated this from my database using ViewBag in the controller). When the user has selected a customer I want a separate dropdown list to generate a list of dogs belonging to that customer related by the customerID in the database. The create button on the form will then take both of these values along with the the other fields and save it to the database.

I'm looking store an ArrayList into a session variable, but am having a few problems. Can you spot anything wrong?
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { ArrayList score = new ArrayList(); protected void twist2(object sender, EventArgs e) { int a = 11; int c = RandomNumber(a); score.Add(c); score = (ArrayList)Session["scoreData"]; Result.Text = (c).ToString(); String Result_id = Result.Text; int total = 0; //Session["scoreData"] = score; for (int i = 0; i < score.Count; ++i) { total += (int)score[i]; } Sum.Text = (total).ToString(); String Sum_id = Sum.Text; }

View 1 Repliesi'm a asp.net c# beginner, i set a session variable in a.aspx but it's null when i try to retrieve it in b.aspx
My problem is regarding title written above. Currently I have some functions that rely on Sessions to do the job. Everything works smoothly when it is left to default. However, I do not like the idea of losing sessions in case of crash and I have modified my web.config to use Sql Server mode instead.
I have run the necessary commands to create tables and stored procedures in my database using aspnet_sql.exe. I am able to store values into the database but have not been successful retrieving them. Since it has been working fine with InProc mode, I think I can safely assume that there's nothing wrong with my codes. Here's my web.config setting:
<sessionState mode="SQLServer" allowCustomSqlDatabase="true" cookieless="false" timeout="120" sqlCommandTimeout="30" compressionEnabled="true"
sqlConnectionString="Data Source=.SQLExpress;Initial Catalog=mytest;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=mytest;Password=mytest;"/>
I am working on a web application that is consuming a Dataset returned by a web service. As the application is running I store that Dataset as a session variable to be used over and over again as the user navigates to the different pages that will edit the tables within the dataset. The idea was the user will only have to wait for the data once when the application loads then the application would use the session variable until the user saves the changes they made, when that happens it would pass the edited tables to the service to update the database. Is there problems with this design and the storage of the Dataset and Datatables as a session variable?

In other words be able to select a few items out of the returned list and get the selected value of each. I tried using a for each statement but came up with some strange numbers.

I have a main "index" view that has a drop down and a submit button. When a selection is made (CampaignId) and a submit button is pressed a list of items is displayed and filtered based on the selection from the drop down list.
I've added a partial view (on the right rail) of my site that lists a bunch of campaigns. when a link is pressed in that partial view a (CampaignId) is passed to my page and the same thing happends as if you would make a selection from the drop down. The issue is that the dropdown "Campaign Name" should be selected based on the selection from the partial view.

I have a list of options (IEnumerable< SelectListItem >) in my model that I want to use in multiple dropdowns in my view. But each of these dropdowns could have a different selected option.
Is there an easy way to simply specfiy which should be selected if using the Html.DropDownList helper?
At this point, the only way I can see is to generate the html myself and loop through the list of options like so:
