Does anyone have a good tutorial or now how to send html emails. I have searched and searched and not been able to get anything to work. I have tried CDOSYS and havent been able to get it to work. Currently I am using System.Net.Mail and System.Text so that I can use StringBuilder and put it in the body.
I would like to be able to build an aspx page and send it as the body in an auto generated email.
I'm a Coldfusion Web Developer and I'm finding that in my local area, work for CF Devs has become extremely scarce. There were a handful of companies that were Coldfusion houses a few years ago and it appears most of them have moved away from CF development.I'm looking to expand my skillset to improve my employment outlook, and it appears that many of the web development positions that are available to me now are focused around .NET web development. The last time i took a look at .NET as a web development platform was way back during 2.0; where I found it to be poorly organized and extremely unfocused.
Apparently somewhere along the line I missed the boat because that's where about 90% of the web development jobs in my area are now.I've done some searching on google to see if I can find a tutorial, something that's akin to hand-holding, and have come back dissapointed.
So I'm turning to the SO community to ask for links and resources that might help better explain how .NET development works in a web development capacity, and for links to these resources so I can begin boning up my knowledge and start writing practice applications.
how to develop asp.net mobile application? what steps I have to be follow from the beginning. Is there any template provided by Microsoft for visual studio 2008 ? I want to develop this using c# + asp.net in mobile environment.
This is the first time i am going to develop asp.net web application for mobiles. All these while i thought there are seperate project templates available in VS2008 and VS2010 as i used to see them in VS2003. Now it is missing. I have also seen assemplies(System.Web.Mobile) available in .net framework for mobile based web controls. I googled, i did not find any convincing results :(.
Do i need to use the same Asp.net WebSite template for both desktop browsers and mobile browsers just by considering the screen layout?. that is i should detect if the request is from desktop browsers use one type of layout and other for mobile browsers. If my understanding is right? how do i test those web pages for different mobile models?
I am trying to start a new mobile web application project but cannot find the mobile page template originally available on VS 2005, nor can I get the mobile web controls to display in the toolbox even though I have then all selected in the tool-> select toolbox items why? and what can I do?
I am developing a web based application for a Motorolla Mc 9090, it is a wireless barcode scanner running windows mobile 5.0.
The idea is to centralize the inventory in one database, by scanning items, serials, bins etc.
I have a set of pages each containg forms, where the user will have to scan an item, and automaticall the scanner has a carriege return (ENTER key) the idea was to have the user simply scan, and the page would automatically click the button posting to server for processing and then the server would reply.
For some reason i cannot get the focus() to work as well as the defaultbutton propperty of the form. There is also 1 more problem, the readOnly textboxes look the same as the non readOnly textboxes, even with the backcolor property changed.(guessing this is just MS)

We have a largely asp.net web form team (With some Oracle developers thrown in).
Is it a good idea to start using asp.net MVC which will mean redevelopment of a number of standard controls for not much benefit.
Is it a good idea to hire developers where there most recent skills are with asp.net MVC?
I doubt there is any benefit adopting MVC now, given the 100+ applications in this suite of products, and the maintenance/rework this will cause. Given this, is there any particular reason to hire MVC developers, as they won't be hitting the ground running, which is what I need now.
I'm new to ASP.net and used the on-line demo under the getting started section to try and build my first MVC app. [URL]. This is a great video and is just the kind of thing I need to help me learn as I hate reading though books! However I have gone through this tutorial 3 times now and I can't get it working. Well, I follow it step by step and get the following error. The only difference is that I am using Visual Studio 2010. Being new to this I need to become familiar with all the standard error messages but at the moment they are all foreign. This is my FriendsController.cs I'm not sure if I need to post the other files as I know the database is setup ok.
The error message is: Error 1 'HelloWorld.Models.FriendsDB' does not contain a definition for 'Friends' and no extension method 'Friends' accepting a first argument of type 'HelloWorld.Models.FriendsDB' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
