SQL Server :: Integrate SQLExpress 2008 With Visual Studios 2010?

Aug 19, 2010

I recently found out that you can only do full text indexing with the advanced series of SQL Express and I managed to download and install it on my machine. My question is how do I integrate it with Visual studios 2010 so that I can do the full text indexing ?

When I installed SQL Express with advanced series 2008, it created an instance of SQL Server management studio so im wondering if I have to do it there and then move the database into my project or if I can do the full text indexing from inside my project

Sqlexception Was Unhandled By User Code Using Sqlexpress 2005 And VS 2008

Jun 1, 2010

I did executed a db - contact form page successfully in the same project with the same connection string, but for this page its doing error and so I commented the binary file saving codes and all and put just simple 2 fields to see if the db is connecting and surprisingly getting sqlexception error and no data is written to the db. I am using sqlexpress 2005 and VS 2008. After this code I am listing the error I got.

Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Imports System.IO.FileInfo
Imports System.Data
Partial Class picture2
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
Protected Sub upButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles upButton.Click
Dim ctr As Integer = 0
Dim fleName As String
Dim fleLength As Integer
fleName = FileUpload1.FileName
fleLength = FileUpload1.PostedFile.ContentLength
Dim fleDatasource As New SqlDataSource
fleDatasource.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("CandidatesConnectionString").ToString()
fleDatasource.InsertCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.Text
fleDatasource.InsertCommand = "INSERT INTO Picture (picLength,picName) values (&picLength, &picName)"
fleDatasource.InsertParameters.Add("picLength", fleLength)
fleDatasource.InsertParameters.Add("picName", fleName)
----------------------- executed and now the prg returns to my code with the following sqlexception error box and while expanded I got this info ------------------------
message - Incorrect syntax near "&"
Line number 1
Errorcode -2146232060

in order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user. fleDatasource.Insert() the prg stops in the code with the green highlight on the fleDatasource.Insert().

Web Forms :: Controlling File Name Of The File Opened Directly From File Download Dialog?

Jul 26, 2010

I am downloading file from database using the following code. This code downloads an excel file from the database which has a macro attached to it when it is opened. This macro reads file name of the excel file and uses it for its computation. Everthing works file if user saves the file on his harddisk and then open if but if he directly opens the file from the dialog(by hitting 'Open' button) then file name of the opened excel file comes out be the name of the webform that has the above code and this leads to error in the macro. Is there any option through which i can control the name of the file if user directly opens the file from dialog or the option to disable or remove 'Open' button form the dialog?

Visual Studio 2008 - How To Manually Override The IIS Directory For An .Net Project Opened By VS2008 But Created On Another Machine

Feb 25, 2011

I have an ASP.Net project created by a team member on another computer. The project references a virtual directory that exists on my computer but under a different localhost location.Currently, the following error occurs when I try to open the project:

The local IIS URL http://localhost/foo/default.aspx specified for Web project foobar has not been configured. In order to open this project the virtual directory needs to be configured. Would you like to create the virtual directory now?[Yes] [No]

So, there are two options: select yes: It creates the virtual directory that it thinks I need, which I don't want to do. I already have a virtual directory somewhere else.

select no: This isn't an option, as the project opens, but without all the bells and whistles I know and love.

Where is the virtual directory location (in my case http://localhost/foo/default.aspx) specified within the project? Can I change this manually, say in a configuration file within the project, either before or after I open it? A configuration change seems more ideal than manually opening IIS to override a virtual directory path.

EDIT (solution): Buried in the comments below is the following answer (Thanks @Thyamine)This can be configured in the foo.csproj file for the project. Look for the lines:

<FlavorProperties GUID="{F00-000-000}"> [code]....

C# - StreamWriter Stops Writing When File Is Opened From Web Link?

Following on from my previous question...

The following code creates log files on a web server:

private void LogMessage(Message msg)
using (StreamWriter sw = File.AppendText(_logDirectory + DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyyMMddHH") + ".txt"))

The log files are linked to from an admin page on the web site:

foreach (FileInfo file in logDir.GetFiles())
Response.Write("<a href='http:// .... /Logs/" + file.Name + "'>" + file.Name + "</a>");

I'm getting the problem that after someone looks at one of the log files from the link, that log file stops being written to.

How To Save MS Word Template File (dotx) As Docx When Document Is Opened In Internet Explorer

I am maintaining a web application that allows word template documents do be opened inside the browser.

Recently the client upgraded to windows 7 and MS Word 2007 and my problems started... When a template document is opened inside the browser and saved, the original file is overwrited instead of a new word file being created.
