I have a SQL DB with just 2 fields, ID and TEXT.What i was trying to do, was placing a Detailsview in EDIT MODE, then selecting from the DB like SELEC TOP 1 Text FROM DB.Then i placed a Ajax HTML Editor in the template field. How can i, keep the HTML Editor on the page, and use it for INSERT and/OR EDITING ?e.g.: on the first time the user opens the site management page, it will be blank, so it will show the HTML with no text on it. but the bottom button will be UPDATE and CANCEL. So when he enters the TEXT he clicks on UPDATE.
I have a table in my database called "Profiles". This holds data on Female and Male personal characteristics. On my aspx, I have a formview in edit mode which is binded to an object data source with a GetDataByUserId Select methodwhich retrieves data from the "Profiles" Table via a DAL.The "Profiles" table has some columns which relates to females only and some just males and some are generic to both.See example below
UserId - / of Type GUID GenreId / of Type BOOL. Hip Size (For females) Dress Size ( For Females) ChestSize (For Men ) TrouserSize (For Men) Weight ( For both )
When the User logs in , they go to an update Page which has the Formview in Edit Item Mode and contains drop down Lists whichare binded to the Users Selected Value. The DDL are in turn bound to their related table such as HIP, Dress, Chest, Trouser etc.bjectiveIf a female user logs in I just want to show them the (Hip Size) DDL and DressSizeDDL in the Edit item template of the formview and not the ChestSize DDL or TrouserSize DDL.At present the GetProfileByUserId returns all colums from the tableMy question is how do I do this and just show DDL which are relevant to the Female or Male Only. In some cases the usermay not have selected an item in the previous form so they could also be NULL.Am i on the right path by writing a Select Query that checks to see if the User is Male or Female by checking the Genre column in Profiles first.Do I also need 2 panels, 1 to hide Female DDLS and the other to Hide MaleDDLs subject to logged in user genre.

I have two InlineEditBox.NET controls in a template field inside a GridView. When displayed in the GridView, the first row is OK, but starting with the second row, the controls are automatically displayed in edit mode when the page loads, and I can't figure out why.
I have a user requirement to hav the ability to directly edit the gridview without having to click the edit link. I was thinking of showing dropdown lists for each column-to-row so that the user can select the values for each record. Then the table will be updated accordingly (no update link).
Is this possible or do I still need the edit template and specify the item template with the dropdown list?
When I am in edit mode on any row of my GridView and I press Return while the focus is in one of the row's textboxes, instead of triggering the update button, my GridView1.RowEditing event is fired with a NewEditIndex of 0 This causes the first row to become editable and I lose any values typed into the previous row. How can I stop this from happening?
i have a field username which i want to have as a label in the edit.aspx and as a typical textbox in create.aspx . i have applied datannotation class . how would i do that. in the edit mode it is always going model.isvalid ==false . so what i did had a textbox there with the label and hid it . it is working fine now . but is there any clean way this is done in dataannotation
I'm looking to have my page in "Edit" mode all the time. to do this I have the following code in the page_load of my page:
This works in all scenarios `except` when I open the catalogue and select "close" instead of adding controls to the page. Selecting close sets the page back into "Display" mode. Is there a better way to do this?
I have a webform that contains a few textboxes with required field validators and a gridview. I'm trying to add an edit function to the gridview, but when I go to update the textbox validators fire. Is there someway to trap the edit event and disable the rfvs? Will 'Mark As Answer' for replies leading to a solution.
VWD 2008 Express. Visual Basic. I have a gridview that displays the grade records of students in a class. I am only able to select one row at a time to edit (using the "Edit" button for that row, followed by "Update" when I am finished. I would like to turn on edit for all rows at the same time or for a group of rows and then have one "Update" button to press when I am done with all editing, much as in a spreadsheet where you are not restricted to a single row before you press "Save."
I have the need to allow a user to "tab through" making edits on a gridview. There will be one editable column in the row data. The user should be able to hit tab and go to the next row to edit said column. I have not found any easy method to accomplish this task. I found a way to programmatically put a gridview into edit mode, but in testing the code below it works for only 1 row at a time.
i am getting some errors with my asyncFileUpload. I have a page with <formview><updatePanel><AsyncFileUpload> when it is in ADD mode, the page works fine. Now I put it in EDIT MODE. I open the page and it works fine but as soon as i try to upload an image the nightmare starts. Debuggin I can arrive to these conclusions:
when I open the page for the first time, the sequence is: method load, AdFormView_ItemCreated (empty method), the Bind Process, AdFormView_DataBound.... Everything is ok. I click the button to upload and: AdFormView_ItemCreated, CONTROLSKIN(), Load, DataBound... but at this point controls are not recognized. The FormView has not been created.
I have a Gridview that handles double clicks. On a double click, the selected row goes into Edit mode, which means in my case that edit controls (textboxes, checkboxes and dropdown lists) become visible, and display controls (labels) become invisible. On Page_Load the values in edit controls get saved. Now my question is this: how can I get out of the edit mode if I don't want to save? Can I e.g. handle Escape key? BTW, I use C#.
I have a checkbox column in a RadGrid that I want the user to be able to check/uncheck it and set the attached property. When the grid renders however, the checkboxes are disabled, because the grid is not in "edit mode". All the examples I'm finding want me to go through a lengthy process of selecting the record, putting it into edit mode, changing the value, saving the value.... yada yada yada...I just want the whole grid to be in edit mode (or the column, or whatever works) from the get-go, so the end user can make a one-click change to the data value. I know there must be a way to do this, I just can't seem to find it.
