Architecture :: Get The Form Data And Store The Data Locally And Sync To Database Later
Feb 17, 2011
I need to create a asp .net web application which should have several forms to get the survey data, When the user is out of the wifi or don't have internet access to connect to the server even though the user should have access to the forms or any other tools to input data and store them locally and sync to the database later. What are the options available to do this kind of tasks in asp.net / C# / Sql Server
I have a page with a ScriptManager / UpdatePanel. I currently need to PostBack to a https page from an http page (different ports). I also need the same session data. Currently, I copy my form to a new form, and when I postback to my new Target on a new Port, I get a crash in xmlHttp..something. I will have to post more details later.
I'm currently wondering if this is possible. And does anyone know of such a fix. I even tried to Turn off Partial Rendering and I still get crashes. I can't do this until I pull out the scriptManager / UpdatePanel.
Which is the better alternative when allowing file uploads on a page (through a Gridview populated by a coded DataSet)? Store the image itself in the database or to store only the path name to the saved file in file system. If it matters, I do not expect to have more than a few dozen images stored in the database at any given time.
Its related to datatable in gridview store in session and then session retrive and store to database. basically i am using gridview here creating new row for button click and these row adding untill user's last entry then submit all these entry to database. so i want to use session variable to store this data temporarily and after final entry user click on submit button and all data shold be save in db.
I have been wrestling with web services technology/techniques for part of 2010 - learning how to reate/consume/deploy... I have also been experimenting with third party web controls from ComponentArt. In some of the samples from ComponentArt I observed that they use .asmx files locally to populate their custom data controls (datagrids, comboboxes, treeview controls...). What is interesting (and a little bit confusing to me) is that in the ComponentArt samples they reference the web services directly within their controls in the markup. My question is if this can be done normally with controls that ship with Visual Studio (any version -- I have em all 2005, 2008, 2010). I ask this question because from VS I only know to reference web services by right clicking on the project in the solution explorer to add a web reference.
Then in the property grid of a data control -- say a treeview control-- they reference the web service, and when the project is run -- the control is populated with data from the web service.
Do data controls from VS support this technique? My other question is if there is a benefit to using a web service as a datasource for a control and what is this benefit? What is the criteria for using a web service in this manner?
I created a Textbox named VisitorName. The visitor puts in their name and it goes in VisitorName.Text
There is a Label that says "Which do you own?"
There is a RadioButtonList. It has Cat, Dog and None.
There is a button that says Add to list.
The button needs to add the results of the above items and put them in the list.
Now you keep adding people and their pets.
Once there are all entered you press send and I get the results for everyone entered during that session via email.
I have no database access and the information does not need to be stored in such a way.
I would like to use a datatable or datalist or something to that sort.
Oh and I would like the visitor to be able to click on a name in the table and edit the data using the form controls not in the datalist or datatable itself.
I am trying to submit my form's data to database using asmx Web Service method(Through AJAX extension methods i.e., Script callback method). My form contains lot of data, though only text data. This will be a very fast process,Or should i submit form data in the traditional way ?
I have creted a form for a job submision it has a number of text boxes / date pickers / text edittor and async file uploader, onload it creates a random string and stores it in a text box (this becomes the job id) this id is also used to create a folder (of the same name) to store any file uploaded, I have tried to store the file location so I can add it to the database but the textbox/lbl remain empty.Secondly I would like to submit this form to a database I am using asp.net 3.5 with rules / membership / state on sql I would like to be able to post the user role / name as part of the data store if this is possible.I have attached my code the asyncfileUploader was converted from C# Demo and modified using suggestions found via google.
aspx file:
[Code]....
aspx.vb file:
[Code]....
the code seems to function fine apart from not returning the uploaded file location (so it can be downloaded via a link later)
hey folks I got a general question that maybe some of you can just weigh in. I developed an online store for a client and people place orders online for a food ordering place however I am trying to find the best way to have the orders show up for them at the store. Currently I am sending an email and an autoprint software prints it out which works most of the time but not good enough sometimes it doesn't print. Anyone had similar issues or have other alternative solutions you may have heard off? Like I said the site sends an email to the customer and the store's email account.
I am a student with non IT back ground. I got a request from my client to develop a simple form with 10 data elements and store it in oracle table.I have to use ASP.net to develop this application.
Database Table columns are, ID, Name, Photo..During registration user can preview his/her information before submit their data to thek database. I can store ID and Name data to session state and retrive them easily from preview page but I do not know how to store data to session state. That means, I want to preview all data with Image without store data into database. Is it possible, Is possible, how?
I have OrderFilm.aspx that bind films information from database and I want use cookie in this page and users can order their film with different quality:
this is table:
Id Name 720P 1080P 720Price 1080Price
1 Spectre.2015 1 1 200$ 300$ 2 Water Fall 1 1 150$ 200$
I want if users click on film name from orderfim.aspx ( i.e:Spectre.2015 )and go to film.aspx and select 720P checkbox it save in cookie that users select 720P for Spectre.2015 ...
here I wrote:
HttpCookie cookie = new HttpCookie("orderFilm"); if (cb720P.Checked) { cookie["Film720p"] = cb720P.Text; } if (cb1080P.Checked) { cookie["Film1080P"] = cb1080P.Text; } cookie["FilmName"] = Lblname.Text; Response.Cookies.Add(cookie); lblMessage.Text = GetCookies();
but problem is that in orderfilm.aspx page if users click in other film name(i.e:WaterFalll) and go to Film.aspx page and checked 720p checkbox It delete their last selected cookie and just set their new cookie:
and attention that here I use querystring in orderfilm.aspx:
<asp:HyperLink ID="HyperLink3" runat="server" CssClass="LBP3In" NavigateUrl='<%#"film.aspx?ID="+Eval("ID")%>' Target="_blank">click to order</asp:HyperLink>
After filling all the required information in any registration form, I want to capture the Date of submitting the form in Sql Server 2005 how to achieve this using Asp.net C#?
I've got a web application that runs of a state server. It looks like soon it may need to distributed and there will be two web servers behind a load balancer.
This works great for session state but my next challenge is Cache
My application leverages heavily of cache. I understand ASP.Net 4.0 will be offering more here but nothing much has been said about the how too.
There are two challenges that I face
1). Each webserver will have its own copy of cache whereas it would be more efficient to put this to a third server the same as session state is put to state server.
2). The real challenge is keeping cache in sync if a simple dataset derived from the database is changed my code dumps that cache item and reloads the cache. That's all well on one webserver but webserver number two wont know to drop that particular cache item and reload it. This could cause some unexpected problems in the application.
For scenario number 2 I could attempt to do some smart coding so server number two knows to dump the cache and reload it.
My guess is someone else has already been here before and there's probably a better implementation approach rather than writing extra code.
Does anyone know how I could achieve the goal of keeping Cache in sync between multiple webservers or even better farm Cache management to another server?
Whats the best way to store data from database, if you are planning to retieve all needed that once from d database only once, when the page is loaded for the first time. is arrays appropriate or is the better storage methods. dude to lack of speed. we have decided to only get all data from the database once and store them on arrays then only interate with the database when inserting, deleteing and updating. I'm using visual studio 2008 , coding on c# and using asp.net mysql connector. what other storage methods
We have a requirement in which we need to query data across 2 different databases ( 1 in SQL Server and other in Oracle).
Here are the scenarios which need to be implemented:
Query: Get the data from one database and match for values in other Update: Get the data from one database and update the objects in other Technology that we are using: ASP.net, C#
The options that we have thought about:
Staging area in one database Link Server ( can't go with the approach as it is not allowed due to organization wide policy) Create web services Create 2 different DAL and perform list operations with the data from 2 sources in DAL.
