Architecture :: Showing Real Time Data In An Image?

Jun 8, 2010

I need to build a system which needs to show data on almost near real time basis from a MSMQ data source and this sould be showin in image with a circle as to where the incident occurs.

This is the description given.

The position of the Incident relative to the 123 mark is requested to be represented on a circular concentration diagram .

The algorithm will have to export the location of each incident relative to the 123 mark in polar coordinates (r,θ) and translate this position to the 'master image' coordinate system that will display Incident location.

I have two questions.

1. How can i show the data in an Image and also please point me to any material which might help me with the same.

2. How do i show almost real time data from a MSMQ data source and also how do i architect the same for performance.

Architecture :: Design A Class For Product Searching?

Oct 21, 2010

I'm refactoring an old website that has product search code littered throught the codebehind. I'm trying to encapsulate the search logic into its own class so I've created a Product class with a Search() method. I would like some suggestions about OO best practices so that the class is reusable and maintainable. The questions I have are:

- Should I make the search() method an instance method or make it static? For now the class is just really there to encapsulate my search logic

- If I make it an instance method should it return a list of products or should it populate a member property that I can access like p.Search(); var x = p.ProductList;

- The search method requires upward of 7 parameters of different types, what's the best way to provide them?
- pass them all i.e. p.Search (param1, param2, ..., param7)
- create a SearchParams structure in the class, populate it and pass that i.e. p.Search(searchParams)
- Instantiate a Product object and set properties on it that are used by the Search method i.e. p.ID = 123; etc.... p.Search();

I've used variations of the above before but would like to know what's the best way.

Architecture :: Build An App That Simulates "real Time" Playing?

Jan 24, 2011

I'm trying to build an app that simulates "real time" playing, but without Peer to peer. OK so I have a front end built in flash and a back end built in .NET. My concern is that my flash calls a .NET web service every second to check for events in the databasrelated to the specific user in the session. I've seen other scenarios that make posts to the sever every second to have a really precise control... like Bwin casino games.So... Would this have a huge impact on the server? Users bandwich? What the call to the webservice does is check a table in MySQL database to see if there are any events related to the user, and if there are, I get the information and render in flash... Such as new online users, messages, challenges, news ... etc.

Architecture :: Interface, Abstract Or Inheritance?

Oct 7, 2010

I have a table which houses two entities. StaticProgram and DynamicProgram. There is one column in that table called ProgramType which determines if a program is of Type static or Dynamic. Though these two entities are stored in one table (I am guessing because the primitive fields for Static and Dynamic programs are exactly the same) but from a business point of view these are two VERY different entities.

So, I created two Classes StaticProgram and DynamicProgram. However, I donot want to create two seperate Data Access Classes because it is going to be the exact same code replicated twice. I tried creating a "Program" class as base class and inherited StaticProgram and DynamicProgram classes but down casting is not supported so I can't return a "Program" object from the data access class and cast it to "StaticProgram" class. So, what are my options? Can I create an IProgram interface and have StaticProgram and DynamicProgram implement that interface and have my Data Access class return IProgram?

Architecture :: Class Design - Application Allows Admins To Add Types Such As Document Types?

Oct 12, 2010

I have an application that allows admins to add types such as document types and training types that are in seperate tables with a foreign key in a transaction table.

When structuring my class I decided to go with an abstract-like pattern (without the factory methods though). So I have a Type abstract class that defines my Save, Delete, and GetList methods. I have a training type class that inherits this class. The thing is all types have 3 main properties - defined in the abstract base - but have different source tables and thus different store procedures in my DbCommand object. So basically I repeat setting up the same parameters on all the derived classes. I would like to implement the common stuff in the base but I am getting thrown off by the difference in data sources.

Recommendations For Abstract Class Vs Interfaces?

Dec 21, 2010

From the following URL i got some doubts about the Recommendations for using Abstract class vs interfaces

[URL]

1. If you anticipate creating multiple versions of your component, create an abstract class. Abstract classes provide a simple and easy way to version your components. By updating the base class, all inheriting classes are automatically updated with the change. Interfaces, on the other hand, cannot be changed once created. If a new version of an interface is required, you must create a whole new interface. { Is there any example for this t ounderstand throughly ?} If you are designing small, concise bits of functionality, use interfaces. If you are designing large functional units, use an abstract class. If you want to provide common, implemented functionality among all implementations of your component, use an abstract class. Abstract classes allow you to partially implement your class, whereas interfaces contain no implementation for any members. { Is there any example for this t ounderstand throughly?

I have read the tutorial out there on internet and I saw some examples too, but those examples are so general that they dosen't fit into real world scenerio like I am searching for a shopping website. Same questions again and again comes to my mind that why to made a class only to give the declaration of methods and property.

Why Use Reference Of Abstract Class To Create Object

Jul 22, 2010

Why do we use the reference of abstract class (or base class) to create object of it's sub-class. eg: TextWriter is the abstract class for StreamWriter & StreamWriter.

TextWriter writer = new StreamWriter();

why can't we simply use :

StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter();

Architecture :: How To Design A Centralized Business Or Service Authentication Architecture

Sep 22, 2010

i want to create a centralised business or Service authendication architecture in .net. for example, we have a clients like c1, c2, c3, c4, ... etc. everybody logins seperatly as well as grouply. ie, if client "C1" logins [with login authentication] he can access c2 , c3, c4 also without login authendication. So its like a google. if we enters gmail account, we can access orkut, picasa like that.. i need the cetralised architecture.

And, client "c1" seperately asks seperately how will be the authendication architecture.

so give me the single solution for both these two scenarios. how will be the architecture for these two and how is the Data Base (Login) Structure.

Architecture :: Entity Model Design Framework And N - Tier Architecture

Dec 25, 2010

recently i've studied on ADO.NET's Entity Model Framework and say 'wow' as ORM is one of the fevourite pattern i practice..but suddenly i've come to an ambiguous situation when i'm going to start. i usually follow the following 3-tier architecture..

1. UI Layer
2. BLL - business logic layer
3. DAL - Data Access Layer
a. DTO / DAO
b. Gateway (contains the sql query/stored procedure and connection with DB)

now when i'm going to use the Entity Model Design, where the DBML/ .edmx File should be placed? Because many a times i'm using the DBML file as DTO because of the mapped objects.. in the same time, sometimes DBML ( .edmx file in .NET 4.0) contains CRUD methods and stored procedured method as well as methods with different selection operations,- which should be in Gateway. so where the .edmx file should be placed !?!! IN DTO namespace !? or in Gateway namespace!

moreover sometimes there is no need for the BLL which breaks the rules of inter-layer-communication (UI > BLL > DAL.Gateway)! what makes me confuse is, what should be the ideal n-tier architecture when i'll use the ADO.NET Entity Model Design Framework

C# - Real-Time Database Update At Specified Time

Mar 31, 2011

Given a Database that has a table Called [Bid Transactions], which contains records of all available auctions that are currently running on an ASP.net website .. something similar to Ebay.com, when the deadline of the auction passed, I should close that auction, Send a notification message to both the item owner and the bidding winner to inform them.

how should I keep track of all open auctions? how could I monitor all their ending time and update the Auction status to be "Closed" on Real-time basis? ..

(1) Using SQL jobs ? .. that should reduce system performance .. shouldn't it ?

(2) A back-end service that is running on the server and uses Threading ? .. I have no clear background about that solution.

Creating An Abstract Class That Will Define All Database Manipulation Methods To Implement

Mar 3, 2010

I am developing a couple of small ASP.NET application and would like to know what pattern. approach do you use in your projects.

My projects involve databases, using Data access and Business logic layers.

The data-access approach that I was using so far is the following(I read in some book and liked it):

For DAL layer:

Creating an abstract class that will define all database manipulation methods to implement.
The abstract class will contain a static "Instance" property, that will load (if instance == null) an instance (Activator.CreateInstance) of the needed type (a class that implements it).

Creating a classes that implement this abstract class, the implementation will be according to the databases (SQL, mySQL and etc) in use.

With this I can create different implementation according to database in use.

For BLL layer:

A class that encapsulates all all retrieved fields , and static methods that will call the DAL classes.

Forms Data Controls :: Binding Repeater To List (of Abstract Class)?

Feb 18, 2010

I am attempting to bind a Repeater (but it could be a GridView or ListView) to a list of objects. The List's type is an abstract type, which has two different classes derived from it, both with different properties. Because they have different properties, I cannot just have one ItemTemplate. If I bind a control to a property of one type of class and the other type doesn't have it, it throws an error.

Here's where I'm at:

I cannot use <% if (whatever) { %> some stuff <% } else { %> some other stuff <% } %> because I cannot access the databound item to make the choice based on its type. I cannot use the <%# %> syntax, which lets me use the databound information, because you cannot code logic like if...then...else. I cannot (rather not) call a function and return a string with the code because what I want to render is complex and contains further nested databound controls. Has anyone found an ingenious way of doing if it is this type of object, display these controls, else display these other controls?

Architecture :: Create architecture design For WCF Service?

Aug 10, 2010

I am try to create architecture design for WCF service.

We have WCF service that we have to expose to third party so then can request with xml and get back xml response.

The wcf service should do the following:

- Accept the request call with xml

- Check xml against the schema

- Parse the xml

- Authenticate the incoming xml by username and password that will be in xml

- Send back the response

If anybody can let me know what kind of design I can use or is there any pattern available that I can take it and then extend it as per my requirement.
