Configuration :: Set Up Multiple Websites In Godaddy's 4G Hosting?
Mar 23, 2011
I just upgraded to windows 4G hosting from old windows hosting on Godaddy. I have hosted multiple websites on this hosting account. The primary domain website [URL] is working fine after the upgrade but all other sites hosted in same account report some errors.
tag to stop other child web.config to inherit anything from parent.
I use asp.net to code my websites. Before 4G upgrade everything used to work like a charm.
Has anybody else also experiences the same issues? If yes, what are the changes that we need to make to support multiple web sites in same 4G hosting account?
I have in the past used Godaddy shared hosting with .net 4.0 and had no problems viewing and logging into the administration pages of a asp.net 4.0 website, using the default ASPNETDB.MDF. I don't remember if there was any changes to the web.config file. I can view the site but can't log into the site throws a error which has no detail just the custom error message explaining to change the custom tags for a more detailed message and even then it don't work get same message.
I have an application in the root. I setup BlogEngine to run in a directory of the account. There is a web config in root and another one in the directory. If I have a Web.Config in the root, then I can run application but not the blog. However, if Idisable the root web.conf then the blog will work and, as expected, the application will not work. How can I get both to work without having to integrate the Blog and the Appication? I understand this is a common problem in GoDaddy's hosting account. Has anyone found a solution?
I recently upgraded one of my hosting accounts on Godaddy to unlimited in order to eliminate several redundant hosting accounts. I ftp'd a website and published the databases into the unlimited account ok but I'm getting server errors which seem to be caused by the fact that the primary website is somehow interfering with the website which was transfered into the hosting account. The latest error is
I am trying to deploy Dundas charts in .aspx to my Godaddy hosting account, but they are not showing up. The Dundas support team said I need to do the following:
If you are not using BinaryStreaming, the ASPNET user must have enough rights to write temporary images on the server's Hard drive. If using Windows 2003, the IIS_WPG user requires Write and Modify permissions.
However, of course the Godaddy support team told me I need a dedicated server to do those things. We are on a tight budget and I have to work with what I have now.
I would like to have several websites that use the same styles, scripts, and App_GlobalResources. What would be the best way to structure my websites (web applications) to use the same files? I also need to share user controls with code behind.
I have a big probelm that i want to use profiles at godaddy hosting , it didn't work good and make a message said :
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
I have a GoDaddy shared Windows hosting plan and I'm running into a small issue with multiple domains. Many people have previously reported such an issue, but I am not interested in trying to resolve that problem altogether; all I want to accomplish is to change the format of my ActionLinks.
Issue Let's say the domain that is mapped to my root hosting directory is [URL]. GoDaddy forces mapping of other domains to subdirectories of the root. For example, my second domain, [URL], is mapped to [URL]. I uploaded my ASP.NET MVC site to such a subdirectory, only to find that ActionLinks that are for navigation have the following format: [URL] In other words, even when I use the domain that is mapped to the subdirectory, the subdirectory is still used in the URL. However, I noticed that I can also access the same path by going to: [URL] (leaving out the subdirectory) What I want to achieve I want to have my ActionLinks automatically drop the subdirectory, as it is not required. Is this possible without changing the ActionLinks into plain-old URLs?
I recently switched from Godaddy shared hosting to Godaddy 4th generation hosting or grid hosting.
As per my other question UrlRewriter.NET with .NET 4.0 and Godaddy not working I was unable to get UrlRewriter.NET to work.
So now I have tried ManagedFusion. It works locally but does not work on the Godaddy servers BUT the errors are different and I sense that this might actually work and I have done something wrong in the configuration.
I have three asp.net 2.0 websites running on the same host server and recently upgraded to 3.5. After making changes necessary in the root web.config all sites run, but I've lost the stylesheet for the primary site.
Before the upgrade I had the following in the root web.config
<pages styleSheetTheme="Red" />
I got errors on this line because the upgraded web.config had another <pages> section. I tried adding the stylesheetTheme='Red" to that section and the primary website ran and looked right, but the subs got an error that there was no StyleSheetTheme="Red".
Each site has it's own stylesheets. How can I restore the stylesheettheme to the primary site without putting it in the root webconfig? Or, is there another way to handle this?
I contacted GoDaddy and they informed me that their Shared Hosting accounts only allow partial trust and Report viewer requires Full Trust and therefore I cannot use Report Viewer on my website. (nor do they know of any report tool that will work on their site) I just have a hard time believing that of all the accounts on Godaddy that NO ONE is running any kind reports, I can see some uses for databases with no reporting needed, but not as many as need reporting. Just a quick question, has anyone been succesful with a report tool that will work on GoDaddys shared hosting environment ?

the account we use to copy/publish websites to our web server is not allowing us access to push websites. I've added this account to the permissions in the links listed in the below link, but i don't have success when trying to push remotely. When the account is in the local admins account, everything works flawlessly, but we are not allowed to have it in there. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/31be047e-4716-4974-b8a1-be0111b50199 I've googled and searched a lot for this particular error, but am not finding an answer that helps. We get this error, 'Unable to create the Web 'http://edea01/test/planning'. You are not authorized to perform the current operation', and the above link is the scenario that matches mine the most. I don't do develompment work, but am asked to figure out this connection problem.
I have multiple sites hosted at a hosting company that does not support domain pointing. Right now I have all of my domains go to the root directory and Response.Redirect() to a sub-directory which leaves me with mydomain.com/subdir/. Is there a way to make my own pointer to eliminate the /subdir/ portion of the URL?
I am using the login control from visual web developer 2008 express edition. Works fine locally. So i upload everything to godaddy and the login controls dont work. I cant login/register.There error i get is A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. My web.config looks like this:
This is the last thing i need to get done by the project deadline of tomorrow.
I have spent hours researching a solution in the forums and newsgroups with no success. I created a simple ajax enabled website using VS2005 express. It works fine locally but when I upload it to Godaddy I get an error "the message recieved from the server could not be parsed". I can demonstrate the error message directly on my live site [URL] (the third label is in an update panel and should display the current date when the button is clicked). Here is my code:

I have tried to solve problem myself. I just can't figure it out. The step by step tutorial for the ASP.NET MVC Movies application runs ok on godaddy. That is you can go ho the home page and about page and login page but when you try to go to the movies page it blows up. here is what I am getting

I hosted my project on Godaddy server and they say that the settings required for Url rewriting was already there. But I am getting a blank page when trying to use virtual url to redirect to a aspx page.
I have an Unlimited Hosting account with Godaddy using IIS7 (Shared Hosting). I host multiple domains on this account. I am unable to get URL Routing 4.0 (Non MVC) working on any of the domains that are being hosted. I can get routing to work via the root site, however, I need it to work on specific sites that I host under the root domain.
ie. I have sjfm.org which is hosted on my shared account in the directory sjfmnew
When I place the global.asax file and associated routing page in that directory the routing just shows 404 pages. However, when I place those files under the root site I am able to see the results. how I can get it to show correctly for that one domain?
