Created Submision Form Ajax And Store In Database?
Jan 23, 2010
I have creted a form for a job submision it has a number of text boxes / date pickers / text edittor and async file uploader, onload it creates a random string and stores it in a text box (this becomes the job id) this id is also used to create a folder (of the same name) to store any file uploaded, I have tried to store the file location so I can add it to the database but the textbox/lbl remain empty.Secondly I would like to submit this form to a database I am using asp.net 3.5 with rules / membership / state on sql I would like to be able to post the user role / name as part of the data store if this is possible.I have attached my code the asyncfileUploader was converted from C# Demo and modified using suggestions found via google.
aspx file:
[Code]....
aspx.vb file:
[Code]....
the code seems to function fine apart from not returning the uploaded file location (so it can be downloaded via a link later)

Our application lets the administrator create new users. Since the administrator is logged in, I have set Logincreateduser = false so that the administrator is not logged out even after creating the new user.
The problem is :I need the userid of the newly created user to store additional details of the user in another database table. I see that i can get the username using Createuserwizard1.username; but how do I get the userID?

Is it better to store images directly in a database or to just store the name of the file in the db and display that file? I would think that just storing the filename of the image would keep the db size low...

Web service error response (code/message etc) would you store it in a database? or would you keep the error response in a method.By the time I'm done with this, there will be hundreds of error response, maybe in the future, thousands? (I dont know yet, depends how large this web service grows).EDIT: error response is the response returned back to the application via the web service, (not to be confused with error logging).

I am beginning to write a dynamically generated, database driven form. It will be split into several sections, each section having a "next" button, that will save the current section and proceed to the next.
Ive not begun yet but as its generated dynamically this will all be on the same page and either postback, or redirect to itself and the questions will be loaded into a repeater, choosing the input type based on whatever in the database.
My problem is that one section of the form works slightly differently.
I need to ask all the names and birthdates of everyone who lives with you, so I would need the form fields, an input button and then when pressed save the data and load into a repeater, which will have its own delete button as itemcommand.

My question is that if the user click on button (which is place in default.aspx, for example) then the database table is created in database (SQL express), how can do that? I have tried but errors are occuring during debugging, errors are:the best overloaded method match for 'system.data.odbc.odbc command.odbc command(string,system.data.odbc.odbc connection)'has some invalid arguments.
Argument'2':cannot convert from 'system.data.sqlclient.sqlconnection' to 'system.data.odbc.odbc connection'.
The code written in c# behind the button (button is placed in default.aspx, for example) is:
using System;
using System.Collections;
using System.Configuration;
using System.Data;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.Security;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;

I have created a web application and an SQL database using Web Developer 2010 Express. I have SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server Management Studio Express. In order to deploy the database to my hosting space I need to create a .BAK file from my new database. I think I can do this from with the Management Studio, but can't figure out how to get it to connect to the database. I have used Management Studio before to retore another SQL database and the only connection I see when I open the Management Studio is the old connection to the old database. How do I connect to my new database?

I'm quite new to Web Development. I'm creating a web site and it has a Registration Page where I managed to create the form. But when the user clicks on the 'CreateUser' button, how do I display a message on the form to show that the User is created. And also, at the moment, I don't know where the user details are being created. I wish to add the details to a Login Table in the SQL Database. How do I go about it?

Below is my rough first attempt for a generalized method for textboxes:
Load Session:

However, it appears that the Controls collection is not working for me. What am I doing wrong?
this.Controls.OfType<TextBox>() yields no results at run time when I do a quick watch on it.

I have created a contact form using asp in visual web developer 2008. I have created a set of text boxes where the data is input. First name, surname, email and comment. They all have validation controls on them as required fields and the email also has validation to see if it is a valid email address. I then created a submit button but I don't know how I would be able to set it so when pressed and all the fields have passed the validation that it will send all the input information from the form to me via email. Does anyone know how it can be done as I would be very grateful.
