Web Forms :: Read An Excel File From Client Machine In

Jan 15, 2010

I have developed an application where I need to create a page to read data from Excel File and then update it to the database. The code that I wrote works only when the application runs from my machine. When I deployed the application to the server it gave an error- 'C:PRFileIimport_File.xls' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides. here is mu code -

protected void InsertData(object sender, EventArgs e)
OleDbConnection oConn = new OleDbConnection
(@"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=C:\PuertoRicoFile\Puertorico_Iimport_File.xls ; Extended Properties=Excel 8.0 ");
OleDbCommand oCmd = new OleDbCommand("select * from [Puertorico_Data$]", oConn);
oConn.Open(); //Here [Puertorico_Data$] is the name of the sheet in the Excel file where the data is present

Data Controls :: How To Use XML File To Store Offline Data

Oct 17, 2013

I am developing a application which is social related, and medical also, where there are lots of offline data which we have to show per user, insted of asking database for all the data, to reduce the preassure on the db server, i have thought of using xml for the offline data source.

When a user logs in, the old data will be loaded from the xml file from his folder which approx of ( less than 1 mb) each file). the updated info will be fetched from the db with the index of that table.

Can we use xml in getting data using writer and reader in vs 2012.

Forms Data Controls :: Display Data In An Excel / PDF Or CSV File Format?

Apr 10, 2010

I'm building a User Control that will allow a user to select input parameters, run a query and then view the results in a GridView control. That part is obviously very easy. However, I've been asked to also provide the option of viewing and/or printing the data in a PDF, Excel or CSV file format.

Are there any .Net 2.0, built-in classes that allow for exporting and printing data in these formats in Visual Studio 2005?

A couple of years ago, I worked on a website that offered this functionality in Crystal Reports, but on this particular assignment, we aren't currently using Crystal - I'm not at work right now, and I can't remember if we're running the "Standard" or "Enterprise" edition of Visual Studio.

Getting Appending Html In Csv File (open In Excel) After Download From Server To Local Machine

Dec 9, 2010

I have created a CSV file on the server and want to send it to the user using the following code:

Dim strPhysicalPath As String
strPhysicalPath = Server.MapPath( "CSV/" & PathVirtual)
Dim objFileInfo As System.IO.FileInfo = New System.IO.FileInfo(strPhysicalPath)
Response.ContentType = "application/"
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" & objFileInfo.Name)
Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", objFileInfo.Length.ToString())

This seems to work fine except when the downloaded file is viewed in Excell the html code behind the page from which it came is also appended to the file. Does anyone have any idea why it does this?
