DataSource Controls :: Deleting Formatted Record Returns "Input String Was Not In Correct Format"
Oct 19, 2010
I have a bound data field, a detailsview, one of the records I have formatted to currency in the item template. Yet when I go to delete a record, I get a error message "Input string was not in correct format". Take away the formatting and the page runs fine. I tried changing the datatype from int to money, it makes no difference.

I get the Erorr: Input String was NOT a correct format.
The first three controlparameters are STRINGS and they work fine.
However the last two populate the controlparameter from text boxes that can only accept numbers and decimal point.
First the text boxes for {3} and {4} string parameters in the SQL filterexpression:
[Code]....
And then the SQLDatasource control parameters[Code]....
The last two control parameters are the ones is question as they feed {3} and {4} parameters in the filter expression, NOTICE how I set the type="double".The data input is expected to be like 152.25 or 3.6 or 4 etc,So why am I getting this error: [Code]....

Assigning a var with a value from a database grid
currentID = Convert.ToInt32(GridView_ABC.DataKeys[0].Value);
I get the error 'Input string was not in correct format' currentID is an integer var. When I hover over the GridView_ABC.DataKeys[0].Value it is """, it should be an integer.

there is a template field in gridview this is basically for showing amount.
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Amount" ConvertEmptyStringToNull="False">
<ItemTemplate>
<%#GetQTY1(float.Parse(Eval("Sub_ContractAmt").ToString())).ToString("N2")%>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
if my data base field has any value then it shows no error. but if this fiels is null then it shows error
input string was not in correct format while binding the gridview.
so can you please tell me the method that if this field has null value then what should I do so that i dont get this error. this fields might be null.

I'm stumped on this one... it seems really simple, but I can't get around it. I am pulling 2 values (discount percent, discount amount) from a formview label control. I want to use these numbers in a calculation, but I can't seem to get the format correct.
I hit the error on this statement:
DiscountAmt = Convert.ToDouble(fvDiscountResults.FindControl(
"DiscountSubtotal1"
).ToString)

I am getting "input string not in correct format" error and I have tried a few variations and still no dice. zSessvar1 is equal to 159 and when I substitute the actual nbr, it will work.
Dim cmd1
As OleDbCommand =
New OleDbCommand("Select nbrofcomments from table1 where PID = "
+ zsessvar1, myConn)

I have a Data field of type "Integer" below is my Edit Template for this Data field
<asp:TextBox
ID="OfficeSqFtTextBox"
runat="server"
Text='<%# Bind("OfficeSqFt", "{0:#,0}") %>'
Here is my problem When I try to edit this record, in the Edit mode, this Data field shows the number correctly with formatted e.g. 22,344 if I click on Save the record, it will give me the error "Input string was not in correct format". If I edit this number and remove the "," between numbers then it saves. What can I do to make this work? If I remove the "{0:#0}" then in the edit mode the number will show as 22344 without any comma separation. Note: On the same page I have other Data field of type "Money" and it works with the format applied ???? why does it works with the Money type and not Int???

I followed the tutorial outlined at
http://www.codedigest.com/Articles/ASPNET/232_Picasa_Style_Photo_Album_Using_ListView_Control_in_ASPNet_35.aspx originally written in C#. I'm using VB.Net (Asp.net 4.0) and I'm getting the following errors for Albums.aspx, Photos.aspx, PhotoViewer.aspx pages. I have attached a screenshot of my two tables.Input string was not in a correct format.

I got a "Input string was not in the correct format" exception but can't see the problem. The exception had no information to show what was causing the error. It's thrown before the BLL or DAL are called so it must be in the mark up. The parameters are in the right order.[Code]....

I'm trying to populate a detailsview according to the selected row in a gridview. How do you choose what the selectedindex is? For example my sql statement is:
SELECT [Assignment_ID], [Staff_ID], [Client_ID], [Day], [Month], [Year], [Start_Time], [Job_Type], [Billable_Time], [Travel_Time], [KM_Travelled], [NC_Time], [SP_Time], [Billed], [Description] FROM [Assignment] WHERE ([Assignment_ID] = @Assignment_ID)
and @ assignment_ID is gridview.selectedindex
but when it runs I get the error:

As far as I can tell, I've got the input string in an acceptable format (It's pulling a number that is the value from the Agent dropdownlist) and I'm even having the code convert the value to Int32. The database column is set to "int" and the DAL and BLL both reinforce this. Am I missing something? I can't post everything because the sensitive nature of some of the code, but here's some of what I've got. I'm bulding document-from-template engine. At certain points I need to match on Reg Exp groups and replace template text with content from a db.
I 'hardcoded' my RegExp initially, doing something like: Regex r = new Regex(@"{DocSectionToggle::(?<ColumnName>w+)::(?<ResponseValue>.+)}[[(?<SectionContent>.+)]]", RegexOptions.Multiline);
it does group capture, so the syntax isn't the prettiest.
Just to make things neater and because I want' to keep the patterns in web.config or elsewhere, I've 'evolved' algorithm to something like:
[code]...
But I'm getting an error: 'Input string was not in correct format'.
Is this a limitation of string.Format(...)?

I have a Date Range in my asp page
<ks:DatePicker ID="txtMinDate" runat="server" Width="65px"></ks:DatePicker>
-<ks:DatePicker ID="txtMaxDate" runat="server" Width="65px"></ks:DatePicker>
Based on the date range selected and input in tthree more textboxes I populate the data grid. The code for the Data Grid is
grvLamination.DataSource = this.Controller.SearchLaminationMain(txtMinDate.Text,txtMaxDate.Text,txtJobNumber.Text,
txtJobName.Text, txtOperator.Text, System.Convert.ToInt32(txtShift.Text));
when i run this code it says Input String not in correct format, if i pass null values for all the parameters , I am using Linq to sql and If i execute the stored proc with null values in the database it works fine, it does not let me pass null values from the C sharp page.
